so youre saying thats a bad thing I take it I get it, thats bad but how big of a problem is that? would it be extremely optimistic to get 30k on one of these? I've seen many aprilias in that range without a single problem ducati scares me because I haven't seen many over 20 without lots of problems. I could point u at several high milage unit with no problems and my sister inlaws bike with 125000ks still going well not blowing any smoke or using oil

How about that I was very close, just got the shock back service and rework damping :$160 oil, gas and valving shims :$40 bottom out rubber :$20 spring :$175 total $395 inc gst Can't wait to try it, this guy did the shock on my DR 650 and it was the best money I've ever spent on a bike

You're right, why should he. It's been a 3,5 only. The only good thing with those is that they are so low, making it easy to put the feet down for pushing when you try to overtake someone on a motorcycle. I haven't bothered to look at the manual yet but surely there is a manufactures replacement scheduele. As with cam belts chains can and do break with horrible results. better some maintenance than kaboom

I've found the problem is more the contact between the relay base and the relay rather than the relay itself. I had this poblem just last weekend as I had some spare relay's with me but this did't fix the prob, it was still cutting out whilst riding. (at first I thought it was bad fuel as I'd just refuelled when the problem started) When bike finally stopped completely I removed seat and checked relays, bike started, replaced seat, bike stopped(it had been running fine for previous 6mths) swapped relays around as the most rear one was slightly taller (aftermarket) prob solved 500 meters up the road miss fire stop. removed rear most relay put a slight twist in each of the blades coming out of the relay with some pliers and pushed it back in , fired up and is still running fine a week later. I belive Kiwi-roy as provided and excellent write up in here to fix this prob, I've just gotta extact the digit and do it

I have the same or similar problem except mine only happens when I shift down several gears for eg a tight corner. If I try push it into the lower gear from the false neutral it grinds badly, I can change back up a gear. I've also checked linkages, pawl spring, clutch action to no avail. Sometimes it seems to drop into the lower gear after I've released the clutch giving a very jerky downshift . I thought maybe rider technique although I don't have a problem on any other bike(and I've been riding for 40 yrs) so I made a deliberate effort to make downshift slow and positive and this has helped but not completely fixed the problem. I've convinced myself that this is a clunker gearbox not built for rapid up and down the gearbox work. -

A friend who's had a mk1 for the last twenty years it all seems correct. the engine could have been misread as his engine number is stamped very close to the edge of the casting so the bottom of the "E" could easily be missed. going by the numbers he thinks it could be an early series 2 mk1 . There were 2000 series ones and 4000 series two's his is in the 1800"s . If I had 8k I'd be tempted to buy it but not much more as I've seen good condition or restored one's going for 15 to 18k. How much do you want it?

Yea I know it's hygroscopic, so how do they arrive at the wet boiling point , must the fluid contain a certain pecentage of water to be classed as unsafe , how do the calculate it
