On a ride with a few of the local Guzzi guys on Sunday I noticed I was getting a lot of false neutrals. When I went to reengage gear it was with a load grunch and then gear would be engaged but it had shifted 2 gears i.e. 5 to 3 or 2 to 4. This was happening either shifting up or down. Most gear shifts are happening like this. When taking of from standstill clutch engages fine. Gear shift linkage appears to be fine. I put bike on workshop stand and tried to shift gears with motor not going. It would only select 1st. With motor going shifting up and down gears was fine. Bike is a 2001 V11 Rosso Mandello with original Ram clutch 65,000 ks. Oils changed 5,000 ks ago Any thoughts on what cause of problem could be?

Fellow RM owner here Where did you get the fairing from? What was involved in fitting it? I've looked at the Magni fairings but been blown aware by the price and not been happy about lowering bars
-
Glad others have to resort to pliers to turn pet cock. Here I thought I was the only one who had to resort to that. Good idea about the quick disconnect
-
Will you advertise here? I would be very interested in the fairing

Great looking bike. What have you done with indicators?

Many thanks for advice. I'm on my 3rd oil pressure switch so yes totally agree they are not very reliable. Will investigate oil pressure gauges

Took friday off work to go so see family in Dunedin at weekend. Its a 800 k round trip. On friday it was warm and windy. On way back on sunday it was cool & wet. Yesterday about 30 k's from home the oil light came on. Initialy it was quite bright but it then faded to a low glow. I stopped and checked for any oil leaks & strange noises - none. I had checked oil level before I left and it was about 1/2 up dipstick. I had done an oil change about 2,000 ks before. I then started motor and oil light didn't come on so I road home. After motor had cooled a bit I rechecked oil level and it was about 1/2 way up dipstick. Motor does not normally use oil. Its done 63,000k i'm thinking (hoping) water had got into oil sensor on top of motor and caused light to come on. What do you think?

Try Peter Kelly at Motokiwi in NZ. Did you know about NZ Moto Guzzi rally? Also know as Tattley Rappit Rally. Its at Motueka this weekend so probably no go if your clutch need replacing. I've got an RM to. Done 60k clutch still good.

Got bike shop to fit Guzzi ones I got from Guzzi dealer.

Thanks Guys. Will check it out

I replaced Neutral Sensor/switch in left hand side of gearbox a couple of months ago because it was leaking from the plastic end. This solved the leak but now neutral light comes on when in gear and goes out when in neutral ( the opposite to what is meant to happen.) Is it likely to be just a faulty switch( Cheap at $20 odd) or an electrical problem? Old switch worked fine.

I'm thinking it maybe a Ventura rack https://www.ventura-bike.com/fitments/moto-guzzi/moto-guzzi-1100-v11-sport-00-02/

Yes I was thinking satin clear coat paint to. Will talk to a mate who is a panel beater/car painter see what he thinks

Has anyone else had problems with the paint on their grey tail unit on their Rosso Mandello? Mine goes from grey to a dull white colour. I've used Meguiars Liquid Wax which brings colour back to normal (photo attached) On attached photo I've waxed the top but not bottom to show difference. With panniers frames and a carrier to do a good job you need to remove them both so its not a 5 minute job. Any ideas whats causing the discolouring and of a way to avoid having to use the wax?

Not so far

First long ride since last summer. Tacked on a couple of days to last weekend and headed for Blenheim to visit family. East coast north of Kaikoura still has a lot of road works as a result of the earthquakes a few years ago so you have to be patient with numerous stop/go guys. What was a 4 hour trip is now 6 hours. Return trip was quicker but colder from snow that had fallen previous day. Bike went well. Just clicked over 60,000 ks. Rally season coming up here so should be able to get a few more rides in.

Thanks guys for the advice. I surpose torque on these bolts wont be that much so helicoil is way to go.

Hi MartyNZ I won't have time this weekend so no panic. But many thanks for the offer Time sert is not cheap. Best price I've got is $220 for kit. That's from Wurth with works discount. Rep trying to get me a better price (Fellow motorcyclist) Will be worth it if I have to end up replacing all 16 threads!
-
Many thanks Doc. I want to order kit today and forgot to bring bolt to work
-
I've got 3 bolts in tappitt covers on my RM that the threads are stripping out. As these bolts are being taken out each time I do valve clearances I'm thinking a Time-sert thread repair is the way to go rather than helli coil as they are stronger. What size do I need?

Dirider High Vis jacket and trousers, TCX boots, Shoei GT Air Helmet, 5 Gloves plus Alpine ear Plugs

Hi Do you know your V11? See attached photo of bolt Where does it go on your V11? Question I really want answered is how do you tighten it when there is nothing on head to use a spanner etc on? Mine have come loose. Otherwise I could replace with something else like a Button Head Cap Screw

Oil leak has not gone away. I now suspect its the Neutral switch/sensor that is leaking. I've read of this happening with Aprilla's & late model Triumphs. Does anyone know of it happening in Guzzi's? I've ordered one from Moto Kiwi. I'm planning on going to Sundown Retreat Rally this week end so hopefully its here before then. Hi Tinus89 - Thanks for the confirmation. I will contact Don at Motiv and see if he has any left. I see it was welded with engine still in place. What did you do to protect electric's?
