  1. Might havw been 83 actually, Joey started on the road, this was in the Thursday practice for the Manx Grand Prix that year. The "Amateur" riders started from the pit lane that day. If you look at the pit lane you can just make out a TZ350 starting alongside him, number 26, it was me!! One of my very minor claims to fame. I was lucky enough in later years to share a road with Joey and see the master at work, awesome talent and a very nice shy guy
  2. Dimitris Keep the Breva for touring and the V11 for scratching...problem solved
  3. Disagree, that would be the start of the decline doing away with the heritage etc. What about the families who have supported Guzzi in Mandello for years (and of course who have been supported) I feel Guzzi are starting to break out of the niche market they've been in for years and this would be a backward step. If they can survive at all by staying in Mandello then they should try. But thats only my opinion, I've got 5 Mandello Guzzi's and would possibly not be inclined to buy one that didn't come out of those famous gates
  4. Personally I'd keep that quiet !
  5. Moto Ecosse in Rutherglen, Mel (the owner) is a whiz wi Fuel injection systems
  6. I find mine has a bit of a flat spot between 3 - 4K which is possibly what you've got. Mines is standard and to be honest it only bothers me in the town but again thats not where the V11 should be! Funnily enough my V11 Breva pulls like a train all the way through. If you look on this forum you can spend money and time getting it better but my thoughts are if you want R1 performance buy a R1. Enjoy the quirks of the V11, character they call it
  7. Don't know any answers to the questions but if come along to the Scottish Guzzi Rally in Guildtown (just outside Perth) on May bank hoiday weekend I'm sure there will be loads of experts!!
  8. And this one I thought was funny, not a goose but a very inquisitive Duck
  9. On my annual easter trip to Applecross at the weekend thought I'd share these with you!
  10. Well guys, I did have the relays back in the wrong way!!!! Number 1 Relay, the starter relay needs the 5 pins! Anyway thanks for all your advice, it was the wires under the tank. Sorted and now a happy V11 and owner again. Great Forum this, plenty knowledge out there.
  11. Yep guaranteed I've mixed them up, I'll check out your advice tomorrow and report back
  12. Just checked fuses. All OK Tried the sidestand up and managed to get it started but no rev counter no gen light and no oil light or main lights? Relays?
  13. OK before I get the meter out and start poking here's the symptoms Started & ran fine then wouldn't start No oil light or gen light Neutral light on Kill switch OK (been caught out with that one before!) Pump primes OK & I can hear / feel relays operating when I switch on. Now after swapping the starter sidestand & headlight relays around I have no start & no lights? This would lead me to think its more than just the relays? Expert opinions please
  14. I picked up my V11 yesterday from my mates garage where its been since the winter ( I don't have enough room for all my bikes so have to rotate them!) , all excited about gettin a run out on it today. Got it home and gave it a check over and a polish. Up this morning and it felt good on the one mile run to the petrol station. Filled it up then pushed the button...............Nothing!! I think its possibly the relay(s) decided to give up. Bump started it and put it back in the garage and went out on the breva instead. So I think its probably been fed up stuck in a garage with no other Guzzis (although it was alongside a 49 racing Douglas) Bloody Italian electrics
  15. Any type in particular? I take it you also have / had a Norton?
  16. John, hope its fixed now, hopfully see Kevin in May back over in Scotland for the Guzzi Rally.
  17. Sorry to bring up the dreaded subject of oil, I'm a bit confused as to which oil to use where in my 1100 Breva. I take it the Agip Racing 4T can be replaced with fully synthetic equivalent. Whats the recomendation for Gearbox & Carc, my old guzzi's use the same oil in each. been trawling the net but not finding any sense yet.
  18. I picked up my 2002 V11 from a guy who was 6'5", he did think it could be a bit cramped, his loss my gain (I'm 6'1") I tend to think its not height thats the real problem but weight and suppleness, if you struggle get to the gym, get the pounds off and enjoy
  19. Funnily enough last September I was in the Ardnamurchan peninsula in the most westerly point of Scotland (and one of the least populated) I broke my ankle falling over going back to my tent (yes I did have a drink but wasn't pissed) I called the insurance company to recover the bike as I was off to the hospital. They asked me to fax a Doctors report, from a field in the middle of nowhere!! I told them I'd just leave it there and if it wasn't there in 6 weeks when I'd be fit to ride again it was their fault. They picked it up that day!! Moral of these stories is, never travel more than 10 minutes from a fax machine !!
  20. Maybe its a Scottish thing .......
  21. A guy goes to a fancy dress party dressed only in his underpants The hostess opens the door and asks him what he's meant to be "I'm a premature ejaculation" "A premature ejaculation? how's that?" "Ive just come in my pants"
  22. The rear end
  23. Its similar to this really nice Guzzi I saw at a Cafe Racer meeting in Belgium last year (the guy rides it well, you cant see too much on the photo but the rear tyre was feathering like it had been working hard)
  24. Aye Yorkshire's ok but a very poor second best to Scotland!!
  25. Well whoever gets it good luck and I'll come and visit you often!! I like the scenery, beer wine & weather as well a truly wonderful place to stay. I used to like it when Mark was there (RIP) and I think he liked the banter fron visiting Guzzi (and Norton) owners. Robert it's only a 2hr flight from Embra and it goes every day :-) you could commute
