On the valve clearance,: Yes, it is a little thing to do in the morning with the cold engine and I only do this after I get annoyed by irregular ticking of the pushrods, it is definitely not a daily routine. And the other part: I used to organize trips for the Guzzi Club overhere and it is not that I had all of this in my bags, but we usually had this as a group. The ignition coil helped people back on the road again, just like a spare fuel pump that some one saved from an old Subaru (it worked fine on a EV or Cali 1100ie) and inner tubes and tyre spoons. . It is actually a kind of anekdote. One of us started to run on one cylinder. We removed the side panel of this Tonti Guzzi and one ignition coil was much warmer than the other. Well, you can imagine the guy thought this would be the end of the trip for him, but down in my bag I had this spare ignition coil. Ten minutes later we were going again.

10 and 13 wrench and allen keys 5 and 6 are definitely necessary in the toolbox. I also like to have a filler gauge for setting the valve clearence right (although this is remarkable stable at the V11 Sport). And then you need a 11mm wrench and a something to hold the adjustment screw. And for my friends I bring an additional emergency starter battery, a spare ignition coil, tyre repair kit an extra 18" inner tube, inner cables and mounting sockets, some extra poles for their tents, inflatable mattress repair kit and a canister to swap petrol from one tank to the other. Yeah, we always make it home. :-)

Vinyl records and pick-up players. I offered a Thorens player (including an extra diamant needle) on a local e-bay site for 50 Euro (how stupid can you be?) some 20 years ago in an attempt to clear all the old audio stuff. Towers we called them, on top the pick-up, then an amplifier, the radio and below the double deck cassette player. All seperate units in a 19" rack. We had 3 of them, but this with the Thorens was the best. It was sold in 15 minutes, the guy arrived 1,5 hours later, had driven 200km (and 100km/h really is the max speed overhere. I knew by then that it could have gone for 10 times the price :-). Anyway, In all those 20 years after, I never played the records. So, I think, I should make somebody else happy with them. After all, they are getting popular again and before you know it they end up in a box behind all the windsurfing stuff. Anybody interested in a couple of boards and sails?

BMR Can motorcycles have soul?
motortouring replied to activpop's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
Many examples of mutual understanding between me and my California 2. Some years ago coming back from the south of Germany, the right cilinder started to rattle. Idle speed dropped, engine stalled very often. As we (Cali and I) were alone, we took it on our own speed and it said to me to find the engine speed that had the lowest rattle, use as little as possible acceleration and it would try to make it the last 250km. "It hurts, but don't make it hurt more". We made it. Over 200.000km then you hear and see all that you expect and especially what you don't expect. It also sounds a bit like a marriage🙈 -

Yes, I did. This is 70 miles from my home. 😀 -
Hi, I try to find the frame for the V11 LeMans fairing. Does anybody has it redundant? Best regards

I think you should check that again, import is usually done based on regulations tgat were applicable at the time the type was introduced. For us these are the KR, KS and KT. That was all pre ABS. I think NZ is using UN/ECE based rules. (Australia does that and converts it to ADR Australian Design Rules).

Funny story: I asked my insureance person what kind of lock I would need for the theft part of the insureance. He checked a list of numbers of stolen motorcycles. "V11... I think nobody wants them because no theft reported", he said. And I don't need a certified lock. A KLX250 would be different.

Yes Jaap, we see mainly the Dutch roads (and whether), but the more southern European countries use motorcycles a lot more. In many cases big scooters (this is not a universal term) like the Piaggio's, Yamaha T-max, Suzuki Burgman and the likes, with CVT automatic gearbox. But still I do not estimate this very high. BTW: I commute on my Cali 2 when temperatures go up again.

We have a kind of act together. Every question I ask turns out to be a dumb question. He starts with, " Did you touch it yourself, then we charge double, hahaha". I just like to go there for my cars. 🤣🤣 For Guzzis we are blessed in the Netherlands with several top guzzi specialised workshops that embrace the old ones as wel. The old V7-range is still rather popular and in good condition also worth dealing through the bigger Guzzi workshops.

When calling around, I would not start asking for a quote. I would try to get some long term relation. I do this for the older cars that I have. And I also allow the work shop to do easy stuff that could be cheaper elsewhere (or easy diy), tyres, oil change etc. If they mess up (it happens), it is part of the deal, I pay the hours and parts and we settle with a bottle of wine. Tricky things, 25 year old diesel injectors to be calibrated or replaced, we give it a try and otherwise it is a total-loss. The workshop owner doesnt like it to much, but the mechanics do. It is a bit like walking on a thin line.

That is a good remark. I think, I will do this too. -

It is actually funny that quite a few in this Guzzi forum have read Zen and the art... and also Lord of the ring past by as a read. Starting your motorcycle life on and with a cheap Honda with head gasket problems. It reads like someone wrote parts of my history. -
BARS AND BIKES ... Pubs we have ridden to..
motortouring replied to DucatiGuzziIndian's topic in 24/7 V11
And a bit further to the east (50km) is Herberg Hutterscheid (similar name but that is a coincident). Also the possibility to pitch your tent or sleep in the Bunkhouse. https://www.herberghutterscheiderhof.com/ -

High Chapparal in Heiderscheidergrund Luxemburg is a nice place to go in our area. You can pitch a tent, so no trouble having a nice Belgium beer. https://www.camping-moulin.eu/faciliteiten/high_chapparal -
Would you say it is a coincident that it is after 20 Miles? Or is 20 mi. 20 minutes? I could imagine that time relates to heating up, the Guzzi engine needs about 20 minutes to be nicely heated up (I would estimate something like this). It could be that for example the vent of the fuel tank is heated up and squeezed somewhere. But same for other failures of course.

By the way, I received a message of Bruno Saturno as well. They do not have the Monza body parts anymore, but they have a new set now. https://www.ghezzi-brian.com/en/modelli/v-twin-supersport-2/ Although it looks very exclusive, the price might need back-up from Mrs. No overhere, so I give it another thought.

I tried to get in contact with Ghezzi Brian for the tail section. But it is pretty quiet on that side. I thought the tail was a nice place to start working on some wheight loss.

FleetwoodMac, Peter Green, brings me back to this years Rory Gallagher Festival in Ballyshannon, with a lot of less familiar bands playing music of Rory Gallagher of course but also a lot of Peter Green. Oh Well(1) and Shadow Play, made the crowd go bezirk (big pogo in front of the stage) to such an extend that the artists feared for their audience. Great time.

Thanks for the clear explanation. I took part in the Round Britain Rally in the UK a few times and then we started to organize a similar style landmark rally with the Dutch Moto Guzzi Club. It sound very much as you describe the Texas Grand Tour. Our objective was a rally that could not be finished and it was all over the European continent from Poland to Spain, the Alps and of course Italy (and the countries in between). 150 Landmarks, and still there is always someone who visited all places. However, in 2005, before Google maps and Google Earth, it was never completely finished by one of the competitors. 2025 is the next Landmark Rally of the MGCN.
