  1. I did some prep and paint on the Lario Rehab thread, pages 5 and 6 http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=58695.150
  2. Standard stuff on airplanes.
  3. The sleeve type won't work unless you have the piston off the rod.
  4. got it covered.
  5. I dunno. I've heard a breathed on Scura and Centauro at full cry a few times, and the're not to be denied, either.
  6. Me, either. Maybe that Delrin or Ceram P bushing idea I was thinking about isn't so bad after all.
  7. Well.. seeing as how you are there.. that statement has gotten a lot of people in trouble.. it only takes a few minutes to lap the valves in if necessary. Edit: I see we were typing at the same time, Phil, so let me say that if the valves aren't leaking, I wouldn't bother. You can turn them upside down, pour a little kerosene in the chamber and see if they leak.
  8. Look at the plugs. It certainly does. Too rich will wash down the cylinder walls and it won't last another 6 years. Oh, welcome to the V11 forum, btw..
  9. Scud.. you can do it either way. If you want to install the cylinder over the piston, you can slowly work it down by pushing each ring together with your fingers, or use a ring compressor like this. The trick with these is to lube everything up well, tighten the compressor just enough to make the rings flush with the piston, and give the cylinder a good smack with your rubber hammer. The idea is for all of the rigs to go into the cylinder with that one swat. Being hesitant about it will (probably) leave the oil ring still out of the cylinder. The old rule used to be if the rings came out of the cylinder, to glaze break it and install new rings. Not so much any more. I wouldn't bother at that low mileage..
  10. Congrats on dodging a boolit..
  11. I used a wire wheel on the rubber and post, applied a little super glue, then put pressure on them in a vise until the glue kicked off.
  12. I've used super glue on them to good effect. (after proper prep, of course.)
  13. Cheesehead and Gordon have been doing this Guzzi thing for a long time.. and *know what they are doing.*
  14. really? I've never seen grips that weren't different sizes. I like pro grips gel, BTW. Takes out that little ticking in the bars. YMMV, of course.
  15. I'd say you need gorilla hands for the 1100 Spot.. but twitchy is a matter of degree. The early V11S turns in a *little* faster, but nothing like the Monza or Lario. 2016-08-18_02-45-05 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr
  16. I don't think so. Somewhere.. there is an intermittent connection. Take apart *every* connector in the charging system, clean, and spray DeOxit in them. Reinstall, wiggle around, etc.

    lubing uj joints

Found my setup. Like I said, it worked fine on the later version V11, didn't work without pulling the wheel on the early V11. 2017-03-21_12-21-46 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr Edit: You can see the end is ground down a little, too.
  18. I put 42000 on mine. The WP suspension was quite good, engine was a sweetheart, if high maintenance.
  19. Wow! That's *quite* a day's riding. Thanks for the pix.

I've done it by a simple bent 1/8" pipe the grease fitting was screwed on to. Seems like I learned how to do it here. I'm guessing a search will find it. I'll go out in the Guzzi Garage ™ and see if I still have it, or took it out to SoCal where I no longer need it.

    timing marks

Ok, I'll take a stab. *I've never done this on the V11* but I'd bring the S cylinder up to TDC ready to fire. I'd install the phonic wheel so it had just gone past the sensor. That's just a SWAG, of course.
  22. As docc says, the most common failure is the regulator, caused by a poor ground. You can check the alternator at the yellow wires. They should show somewhere around 45 volts AC when the engine is running.
  23. Longer than you will.. There are *many* 50+ year old airplanes flying around with OEM breakers..
  24. I've seen the tach go crazy with low voltage on the veglias.
  25. I'd say definitely refit the bush..it's used as a dowel for location. all you have to do is drain the oil yet again..
