2016-08-03_03-46-55 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr Ok, I think I've figured it out. It was a sorry looking thing, and had been left for dead for years. He got it running, and the transmission was whining. He brought it down and we put new gears in it and generally fixed all the mechanical woes. The fairing was broken up, etc.. so he repaired and painted it. Uhhh, it rocks.

would that be the Angel ST, or GT's Chuck? I used Road Attacks on my K1200rs and liked them a lot. Is the "kid" on the forum/pics of the Spot? We like Spots! He dosen't do forums much. He was the previous keeper of Lowryter's Greenie. He found the Spot laying on it's side in a barn after it had been lightly crashed. I'm out in SoCal as we speak pecking on a tablet, so don't know if Ican copy/paste pictures or not. I'm kind of a tech luddite..

Strangely enough, I've been a fan of Angels, too..but the Kid said they suck. Now, after bringing the Mighty Scura back from Socal, I understand what he was saying. Out there, they wore evenly to the edges, didn't cup, flat spot, etc. Now that I've brought it back to Indiana, the high crowned chip &seal roads are tearing them up. The left side on the front is noticably worn, the rear is flat spotted in 1500 or so miles. He put classic attacks on the Spot and really likes those.

True, Rosie's paint marks were off one tooth.

Good idea, Scud..
-
Agreed.

Oh, that cam will buff right out..
-
Why? They are *much* better when hot. No contest.
-
I don't think you're going to find that.. it's pretty much a "feel" thing. Uhhh, "Vee Vill Do it By Zee Book!!" Just sayin..

You've gotta love oil threads. Just the same, some of the manufactures must have recently changed their formulations.. I'll still look for SG.

Abso freakin lutely. An aunt gave me a book titled" Sun, moon and the stars" when I was a pup. Basically it said that we'd never make it to the moon, much less farther. I thought, BS.. I was right. *many * of the things that were common place now were science fiction then. Just tonight, I asked my Google assistant (early Christmas gift from the Kid) what the weather looked like. She told me. Instantly. Told her to set an alarm for 5 minutes so I could turn the meat over on the grill. "Sure, Chuck.. five minutes.." I can remember Sifi novels that something like that would have been over the top. "Since calculators will never be powerful enough to calculate interstellar distances, future spacecraft will use mathematical savants as their navigators.." for instance. I *could* go on..

Wayne and Vicky Orwig Injured in Crash
Chuck replied to JRD's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
Yeah, George is the guy. Doesn't look good for Vicky.. It's the right season, miracles are in order. I feel for Wayne.. -
Oh yeah. You can see where it's been apart if you look.

All Redline oils *except* their 10-60 syn are rated SG. Motul dino 20-50 is rated SG, their 10-60 syn is rated SG and several others including SN. As far as I know, Amsoil is still rated SG. Mobil 1 used to be, but changed formulation. Possibly their V twin still is? Valvolene 20-50 dino is rated SG. If it says SG on the bottle, I'm good with it.

Come on knowing that Moto Guzzi would replace the cases with new ones back in the day under warranty must have given some indication that it would have been a bit of a pain lol. But hey you are having fun. I do not recall that that is what Moto Guzzi offered for that defect. I recall that they would have the dealer "refinish" the cases, or the owner could elect for some compensatory accessories (a jacket or otherwise?). I know one owner who went through the painful disassembly/ refinish process and heard of others who opted for the "accessory" option. Anyone with first-hand experience? What happened was the dealer would put new cases on it. The original owner of the Mighty Scura opted for that.

As Scud says, it's probably linkage related, possibly the lever hitting the pork chop.
-
Plus the "additional" 300 un-numbered Rosso Mandello = 1470? 300 un-numbered Rosso's? do tell........ or a link to that story please... I don't have a link, but it was true. After the "limited edition" sold so well, they made another run. Guzzi, you gotta love em..
-
Ed the Rocket Scientist (really) told me the same story. There is no reason for him to fabricate it..
-
AFAIK, this was never an issue with the Sport/LeMans V11 motor . . . This. I respectfully disagree. No less than Dave Richardson told Greg Field to "run SG rated oil in your Guzzi." He passed that on. That's good enough for me.
-
Well, first.. it's a Guzzi. It won't burn oil. If you're on a trip, run what's in it until you return if you are using a quality synthetic. Mobil 1 Vtwin is available anywhere if you really need it.
-
Yer new to Guzzi ain't ya?

Heat is a coil's enemy. The insulation begins to break down. It's a common failure on aircraft coils. Starts up and runs fine until it's shut off and heat soaks a while, then won't fire or misfires. I don't think that is the OPs problem, though. I'd clean up fuse/relay/connectors then a good tuneup.

3D printing is amazing. We're at about the same stage as when the first Commodore 64 and Ataris came out. It'll be interesting to see where it leads.

So, I guess that means you don't care for the new stuff, Pete? Shame, really.. a brand with all it's sporting history reduced to building bar hoppers. The Mighty Scura will continue to be my new bike.
