  1. So, I guess that means you don't care for the new stuff, Pete? Shame, really.. a brand with all it's sporting history reduced to building bar hoppers. The Mighty Scura will continue to be my new bike.

    Zinc chromate

Uhh, we *might* be overthinking this..
  3. Shamelessly stolen from WG.. http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=87377.0
  4. The WG guys have started a fund for what will no doubt be considerable expenses for Wayne. I used ill gotten gains from the shifter extenders.. http://wildguzzi.com/forum/index.php?topic=87359.0
  5. You can't trade Guzzi parts for crack, so Guzzis are almost worthless to a dirtbag. I know of one that was stolen in Europe, but it was found shortly. I know of two chromed out Eldos that were ripped off in SoCal. The perps probably thought they were Harleys. I've never heard of a V11S being ripped off.
  6. Big valve Guzzis are pretty hard on the guides.
  7. ^^^^ yep. Hard to imagine a magnet losing it's ju ju, but the book sez to store them together.
  8. I thought it was interesting.. should have taken a picture. When I pulled the pre selector off the Mighty Scura after draining the transmission, the gears were still totally covered with the RL light. I've seen a picture somewhere where it looked like the gear oil had drained completely off them. I can see where if you drain, measure, and refill the rear drive for instance.. it could become overfilled.
  9. You too, blue lightweight? I would call it green, but it sez light on the bottle.
  10. ^^^^ me, too.
  11. "Yeah.. we bad.."
  12. ^^^^^ Buncha rookies.. I unloaded mine by myself. Backed the trailer where I wanted it, slid the lift back, let gravity put one end down. Wrapped a sling around the top, hooked the cherry picker up to it and drove the trailer away. Let it the rest of the way down to the floor, cut the box away, and rolled it off. Easy peasey.
  13. Uhhh, I back the bike up and clamp the rear wheel in the vise.
  14. Guilty as charged. It's actually a decent lift. (!) Yes, I've used the high priced spread when I've done some work for Mark at MGC, but for the occasional use that I do.. it's fine. Mine came with a missing nut that could have been a disaster. The cylinder needed to be topped up and bled. That was all. Just the same, inspect, lock tite, grease, etc. It would ruin your day if something came loose. The Mighty Scura is the biggest bike I've had on it, and it is no issue. Yes, the "vise" sucks. I hear from a reliable source that Santa said I've been a *very* good boy and he'll bring me a good one. That said, I have used the vise for several jobs, and with (of course) tie down straps, it's been usable. Seriously.. I bought it to rehab the Lario. For the chump change they cost I could have used it for that one job and thrown it away. Since then, I have had many projects on it. It makes you wonder why you haven't had one for years.
  15. Of course, I've been accused by lucky Phil of having taste for shit, but I'd go with black.
  16. Oops.. sorry about that. A little background. Mory Hummel was a gifted designer/builder back in the day. He was a marvelous metal worker, and his ship had compound curved fairings all over, a gorgeous thing. I'm pretty sure he's no longer with us, but he sold the rights to this company. A (ahem) 93 old friend built one and flew it a few years ago. His 70 year old kid was worried to death, but I told him, "sometimes, you just have to let them do what they want to do.." He just smiled and said, "Yeah, I guess you're right.." Fred loved that little bird and flew it a fair amount.
  17. That would be a Chuck-idea . . . I would say it was a collaborative effort..
  18. Well, you used to be able to drill a hole in a penny and have a copper washer. Not any more.. I don't know what they make em out of, but it's not copper.
  19. If a guy's serious about flying a half VW (good little powerplant) I'd consider this well proven design by Mory Hummel. http://www.flyhummel.com/ultra-cruiser A legal part 103 ultralight. Good flyer, and designed by a guy that knows what he's doing.
  20. Oh, I don't know. Ducati posers are always putting the "latest bling" on their ducks, and many times very low mileage rotors, calipers, etc show up on the bay. I upgraded my Jack All tractor when I put a hack on it to a dual rotor front end with duck Brembo stuff for a little less than 150 bux.

    Brand-new Scura

Attaboy, Scud. Pretty soon, pimply faced kids will be looking at you in awe and say, "That got a blower onnit?"

    Brand-new Scura

    yeah, that, too.

    Brand-new Scura

You shoulda gotten the proper Harbor Freight sockets.. (Guzzi content) and.. that's what I remember reading on WG.
  24. Chuck

    Brand-new Scura

Not really. People *have* used them successfully for that job. Probably with a rattle gun..don't remember, but I have read it on WG. What have I used? Don't remember that either. No doubt made something. I give all the "special tools" I make to my friend Andy who tries to make money working on Guzzis. Whenever I need a special tool, I just go get it.
