  1. Oh, I thought when you said Peoria, it was "the" Peoria..as is "but will it play in Peoria.."
  2. Maybe. I, personally, would go for the V11S, the last of the "real" Guzzis.
  3. Better check the wx forecast. There is some seriously bad weather coming to the midwest..
  4. I don't remember that one. Wheels, crossover, but don't remember frame cracks. Oh, one other thing.. the original ECU totally sucked. That may have been the low mileage issues. Just the same, It's one of Guzzi's very best touring bikes ever.
  5. Yeah, that's the issue. They are molded in, and if torqued too much break the tank. I used a full kit of Caswell's epoxy tank liner and spent a lot of time making sure it was heavily applied on those areas. It worked, and repaired the "unrepairable" tank. Darth was capable of 50 mpg.. but I have heard of very poor mileage with the Quotas.. even as low as the 20s. (!!)
  6. Yes, all stock Qs had the single throttle body. Mine was pretty highly modified..it was the infamous "Darth Quota".. the Guzzitech commuter in SoCal. If the tank is full of gas and it's not leaking, it's ok. Mark at MG Classics had *several* for me to choose from when I was going to attempt a repair. It was a common issue, obviously. I made a semi permanent repair of the turnsignals on the MZ using popsickle sticks as a splint and wrapping them with self sticking silicon tape. They were still ok if ugly after a year. A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do..
  7. The red's turnsignal stalks have failed.. a common malady with them. Failing memory says they are the same as the V11S. My MZ Skorpion had em too.. replaced with some generics from Amazon. Cheap. (Guzzi content) The low mileage black one may have bad wheels? Exhaust cracks? I don't remember the issues exactly. I'm old The single throttle body is a PITA to tune, I think. Mine had dual throttle bodies, so I never had to fool with it. Edit: Almost forgot. One of the things you *really* have to look out for is the 4 screws that mount the fairing to the tank. If they have been over tightened, the inserts inside the tank will break loose and the tank will leak.
  8. from SoCal. All I had to surf the internet out there was my Galaxy Tab 4. For whatever reason, it wouldn't let me post on *this* forum.. strange.
  9. A two or three piece Nord lock or Schnoor washer is just the ticket.
  10. Not that I remember..
  11. Well, lets' face it. They are all just air pumps. The Mighty Scura had Mike Rich flowed heads, which IHMO was the main thing. He told me they were the best Guzzi heads he'd ever done..still had records.
  12. Even the "standard" autopilot is disabled at delivery. The owner has to toggle it on as they are setting up the car, and it clearly says BETA. All the features (driving mode, seat position, mirrors, climate control, speeds in autopilot +- the speed limit, etc. etc. are stored on the various driver's profile. You have to set all that up for each driver, and it is done automatically as soon as the car recognizes their phone as they open the driver's door. I don't know what else they could do..
  13. ^^^^ We have had a model Y dual motor for almost 2 years now, and I agree. There have been a couple of instances where the car saw a problem ahead faster than I did. (!) Safety ratings are 5 star+. We just have the standard autopilot, and it is a really good (if a little overly cautious) feature. I'd *much* rather have a Tesla on autopilot following me than some brain dead texter. Oh, and it's fast. Do I have room to safely pass? Yes, yes I do. We rented a Charger R/T when at a trip to Denver this summer. Big V8, paddle shifters, sounded bitchin. The Tesla would take it.. (shrug) It's eating me up on maintenance, though. I've had to put air in the tires once and fill the windshield washer bottle in 35,000 miles. Charging at home off peak at 9 cents per KWH is roughly $35 per month, and I'm not paying the oil barons.. I'm a fan.
  14. I spent the big bucks (Not Guzzi content) for a Goretex rain suit for The Kid and some friends annual Canada fishing trip. You had to be prepared for 40s and raining out in the boat..but the Walleyes cooked on the shore were definitely worth it. In the cabin one night, one of the guys was asking how much I paid for it. "$150." "Oh, I'd never pay that much for a rain suit.." and I chimed in, "Says the guy that's been bitching about being cold and wet.." Don't dis my rain suit over a Carhart suit in inclement weather..
  15. FIFY
  16. This. Slow idle damages the flywheel teeth, clutch splines, and transmission input hub because of the uneven firing order.
  17. Specific use. I suppose that would work with wives, too..(running and ducking)
  18. I love those things..
  19. I've had two BMWs, but I'm a slow learner. The R100RT is *quite* a bit more protective than the LeMans, but you have to put up with having a R100RT to have one. The RS is similar to a LeMans, but.. Honestly though, the fly screen on the Mighty Scura was more comfortable (for me) than the Rosso. My helmet was in clean air on the Scura. Rosie was better in rain, however. There is no perfect motorcycle, no matter what Melissa says.
  20. Most likely it will. It is already sacked from over travel. Compare it to a new spring, and you will see this. Maybe you will be lucky. I tested one that I don't think would have broken..
  21. I still have a few Extenders from that absolutely last run. Scud sent me a few springs that I could use as "party favors" if someone needs one.
  22. 2 and 3 are the lower cylinders. Unlike every radial I've dealt with it doesn't burn or leak oil. What's up with that? No idle cutoff, idled at 1000 rpm per the manufacturer's instructions during taxi back, and idled for a few seconds at 600 before shutdown. Unleaded auto fuel 90 (US) octane, no alcohol.
  23. Thanks, Phil. I just put them in the lathe and used a parting tool to cut through the crimp.
