  1. Thanks for that.
  2. Congratulations. Now, I won't have to find that picture of the same thing I made up. I put the nozzle on the lathe and turned a little taper and chamfer on it to help. Third attempt is pretty good.
  3. A friend brought a swingarm to me because he couldn't get the bearing out. I brought out my blind bearing puller and tackled it with a grin. I couldn't get it out, either. I ended up welding a (don't remember) nut or bolt on the bearing and jacking it out. Nasty job, probably took an hour.
  4. From my maintenance records.. Rear suspension Rebound 24 clicks from full soft, compression 12 clicks from full soft. We're "about" the same weight. This was on the Mighty Scura.
  5. I'd weld a nut on it, myself. .
  6. Must....keep....wallet....closed..... Red...
  7. Uh oh.

    Scura clutch

Thanks for that, Phil.. I'll relay the info to Mark.
  9. I think there is a possibility of this stuff working. Guzzi Bob (RIP) used to slime his tubes on his T3 and Green frame. He said, sometimes the tubes would come out looking like a porcupine at tire change, but he never had a flat.
  10. Ahh, I've screwed up myself once or twice. The OP came clean, *bought a manual* and hopefully will be a contributing member.
  11. I won't argue that, but the OP really had no other choice. The "mineral spirits trick" has been done many times on Guzzis without a problem as far as I know, though. I did it myself on an LM5 when a shop "mechanic" had serviced it before I saved it.
  12. I know where there is a low mileage greenie in Wisconsin. Unfortunately, the electrical system is a literal mouse nest. May need a new harness. Interested?

    Scura clutch

Thanks for that. He's on top of what will work now. The problem is, he can't find *any* 6 speed input hub.

    Scura clutch

Thanks for all the replies. I'll give all this info to Mark today. I'm out in SoCal, so don't have any machining capability. I agree that Mark doesn't want to fool with electronics.but.. this is a nuts and bolts job. He'll be fine with this job.

    Scura clutch

I should mention that Mark has a 98 V11 twin plate clutch available. What does it take to make this usable?

I don't think I understand what you're saying Phil..can you try me again? I don't have either in my hand and my memory is not terribly long. 🤔

    Scura clutch

My friend Mark at MG Classics, has a customer with a dead Scura. When I came through the door, he said.."here's the guy that will know.." He was wrong, of course. I told him that I thought Ram made a single plate kit if you have the original input gear. It does, but it's toast, too. Mark can't find one. What is involved in installing a dual plate clutch? Parts availabity? TIA
  18. From memory I think I remember "nothing special, just a little richer across the board." Or, it could be a false memory. Pete will be along..
  19. I bought a pair for the Kid's Monza for Christmas. They are done on a machining center, and *very* well done.
  20. They certainly do. Fortunately, the end cap comes off easily and the dings can be bumped back out, according to some. I haven't tried it.
  21. Airplane springs. Add airplane to anything and the price goes up by a factor of 10. Or more.. Not always though. Some tools, hareware etc. are cheaper to buy from Aircraft Spruce than you can get at the local hardware or McMaster Carr.

    Staintune cans

Yep, had them for years. They're awesome.. strong men weep when I fire up the Mighty Scura.
  23. The Mighty Scura has a twin plate clutch. Pete had it changed out because of "dangly bits" close to the single plate clutch..
  24. I agree that it's 'safest' to leave it in gear at stops. I watch my mirrors like a hawk and make sure no brain dead cager is coming up too fast before bumping it into neutral. That rattle is what causes the damage.
  25. I'm going to pile on here. The worse thing it does is wear the input hub and clutch splines. Because of the uneven firing order, when the plates are free, they rattle back and forth. Doing that is a guaranteed clutch replacement before it's time.
