  1. All I can say is when I was looking at Carl's diagrams, when I'd look at wires, it would be different colors on my bike. FWIW, when I was fooling with The barn find Strada, I couldn't get Carl to understand there was an extra relay that *wasn't* on his schematic. That never did get translated to his drawing. Believe me, I'm not knocking Carl..it can be confusing. At any rate, when I looked at the wiring "that I was working with" on this latest thing, the colors were the same as the black and white I posted from the back of the owner's manual.
  2. Wire colors are different where I was working fooling around.
  3. LIke I said.. the 02 is "different" from the 99 and 04. I know I spent way too much time looking at the wrong diagram, saying Uhhh.. fortunately KR set me straight.
  4. It's different from the 00/01s and 03/04s Just trying out imgzeit..
  5. Why wouldn't that be N.O.? It grounds with pressure..
  6. I'm not going to do it, but I'm trying to understand. Would that be pin 87 of the start relay?
  7. A mechanic friend says it means Bitch Moan Whine..
  8. Needless to say, that did it. Thanks again, Roy.. I don't know what the Guzzi Community would do without you..
  9. The light works normally after the key is on. I would think if it's grounded, it would stay on.
  10. Yeah, I have ACF-50.. I'm an airplane mechanic, and it's used all the time. I have a can of Caig DeOxit, too, and I know how to use it.. This little issue is beyond a squirt and a wiggle, though. I'm sure Kiwi Roy will come up with a simple solution. If not, I'll go with Doccs adda relay deal. Looking at the schematic in the back of the owner's manual, though.. I still don't see the underlying issue. Electricity certainly isn't my strong suit, but I can generally muddle my way through.
  11. Well duh. The schematic I've been looking at bears on resemblance to what's in the owner's manual. Just texted that to you. I misspoke (mistyped) yesterday, it isn't the oil pressure light that has been flaky all it's life, it's the generator light. Thanks for looking at this, Roy.. I can't afford to tear any more hair out at my age..
  12. You can just turn the lever clamps upside down. The mounts will be unobtrusive.
  13. As the Gold wing guy said while I was sitting in my Kermit chair with beer in hand waiting for the Kid to come rescue me.. "An Italian motorcycle with electrical issues? Who would have thought?? " IMG_20190801_193356953_HDR by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr
  14. Well, my thought was if I was going to have to add another relay, why not use the solenoid wire for a trigger and use some #16 aircraft wire down to the solenoid. That would give an even bigger smack upside of the head to the solenoid.. It may not be necessary though, and your method would be considerably easier. It's cranking better than it ever has, even with a depleted battery from fooling with this thing all day. What are a couple of more wires to that birds nest on top of the battery, anyway?
  15. So, if I'm reading this correctly..I should go back to the original wiring and install another relay with the solenoid wire used as the trigger for that relay? <scratching head>
  16. Nope..
  17. I've put it on the squawk list before, but would you listen?? Noooo.. "Right engine missing." "Found right engine on starboard wing.." This is bizarre. I'll bet a dollar if I rehook up the wiring the way it was the OP light would still be on. I'm about frustrated enough to try it, though..
  18. Have you heard the one about the older couple that mixed up the Vaseline and caulk? Their windows fell out..
  19. I certainly wouldn't think so. Vaseline..
  20. No these are the Omrons..
  21. Crap, that wasn't it. I was ready to buy you a beer. Or maybe a brewery.. FWIW, the oil pressure light on this bike has always been flaky. If voltage was low..as in it had been sitting for a long time.. it wouldn't come on. After a hard run in the mountains, on the interstates coming back to the beach etc. it would work. The next day it might or might not work. I didn't care. Just the same, I can't have it on all the time with the ignition off. I'm not above unplugging it.. Can you tell I'm pretty frustrated right now?
  22. Ahh, I saw that, but thought it was power to the tacho light. I'll run out and try that..
  23. Actually, as they say in the NFL.. "Upon further review"" I chickened out and just made up a fused lead from the battery.
  24. No. Just the oil pressure light. All other lights, horn, etc. work normally.
  25. I'm at my wit's end. After hooking up a fused wire to pole 30 of the start relay, the oil pressure light is on with the switch off. All I did was that and clean/lube the ignition switch. Thinking I must have put the switch together incorrectly, I took it apart again.. and again. It certainly appears to be assembled correctly according to some pix on this site. When I turn on the key, everything works. Starter cranks and it runs. Oil pressure light goes out. Shut it off and the oil pressure lights again as soon as oil pressure falls enough to trigger it. Why is that circuit hot all the time?? What I don't know about electricity would fill a couple of volumes..
