  1. No doubt your are the first to have this happen. I believe it has to do with conjunction of the planets. They are aligned when the grease gun finally slips on.. then while pumping, one of them wobbles on it's orbit a bit.
  2. Of course it's possible that you knocked the pressure sender wire loose, and it's grounding out.. but I'm betting on Luhbo's 2 gasket issue. Don't worry about not pre filling the filter. That really makes no difference. There are many old wives around, and this is one of their tales..
  3. Welcome, Jim.. the fairing works well, the paint may or may not fall off/look bad. The Ti exhaust sound is sublime. Billy Bobs are scarce on the ground, as you well know. I, personally, prefer the Ohlins bikes.. but the 'Zook bikes aint' chopped liver. As we both know, life is too short. I'd grab it, play with it, and keep my eye out for that BB that may or may not turn up.
  4. Absolutely..
  5. Yeah, once you get to the Ohio river there are many choices heading south. It all depends on how much time you have to get from point A to point B.
  6. I don't think it is *that* critical, but I shoot for .030". Obviously, they will run with an interference fit for a while. .050" is too much. I played with this stuff a *lot* with my Centauro many years ago. It took me 2 years of fooling around with it until I finally cured that occasional hiccup around 3K rpm. On my bike, the brass temp sensor holder was the last piece of the puzzle.
  7. .030" has been proven over the years to be ideal. Don't ask me how I know this, but if it is too wide the engine will idle only.
  8. (ahem) That might have been set a little closely..
  9. The Mighty Scura only has 39000 miles.. it's my favourite bike of all time.. comma but (Hagan content) I *do* have other bikes to ride.
  10. I'm not surprised. Ideally, it would be a big radius from the lower edge to the machined surface.
  11. Stainless cycle has all sorts of kits for Guzzis. I used one when I de corroded the Mighty Scura. Good quality..
  12. Yeah, that was a deal breaker for me..
  13. Thanks for that, Docc..
  14. Isn't that a picture of the circlip in pieces? I'd call it the gudgeon pin retainer if English wasn't my first language.. Graphic evidence of why you don't reuse them.
  15. That's a beauty, Dave.. I had an 07 2V that was a *great* mile muncher. Certainly not as good in the twisties as the Mighty Scura, but in central Indiana it seldom needed to be. The only real downside for me was a top heavy feel moving it around in the garage and at slow speeds two up. I rode a friend's 1200 Sport thinking it would be different, but they felt the same. Great bike, though..
  16. $483 for 5 liters??? cough cough "It's the big one. I'm coming to see you, Lizabeth"
  17. A new battery that has been sitting for a year is no longer a new battery. If you have a USB port on the bike, it will kill a battery deader than a mackeral. Don't ask me how I know this..
  18. There's a reason I coined the phrase "going out of business since 1921." They've alway been a small company hanging on by their bootstraps, and making wonderful motorcycles with very little money. The last really competently engineered machine was the V7 Sport, IMHO. There is generally a lot of afterthought engineering. The Centauro was one of those worst cases, and our beloved V11 Sports are it's children. Ahh, forward thinking is for Honda..

    Resurrection

Welcome to the best place on the planet for 02 V11s. Pictures are required, of course.
  20. Those things are entirely too close IMHO. Luigi must have been promoted to design.. At any rate, they need to be carefully located.
  21. Possibly a broken return spring on the throttle body? A friend has that problem as we speak. He can't find one anywhere, so I'm going to make him one. Hopefully.
  22. No doubt, that spike heel dented that muffler.. those things are delicate.
  23. Yeah, that's a beauty, Tom..
