  1. Bastard. It was 60F today, going down to 13 tonight. Oh. And raining while it can. And blowing 20 gusting to 35.
  2. Oh yeah, the prep is what it is all about. It can be a Zen thing if you do it right. Add beer, if necessary.
  3. For sure, cycling the injectors off and on several times without starting it will make the throttle bodies leak at the shaft.
  4. Very seldom will a liquid solution fix a mechanical problem. Nope, it's not the pawl spring. It *could* be the return spring, but as others have said, it's probably just a linkage issue.
  5. Nice. I love doing that kind of stuff.. or at least I used to when I had my temporary paint booth for 15 years or so.

  8. I wish. That guy is above my skill, tooling, and financial level by a fair amount. Back in the day, if memory serves, I could have built a NorVin with repopped Austrian powerplant and Norton frame for 20K or so. Of course, that was real money then, and I was seriously into building airplanes. Shoulda tried.. that is the koolest motorcycle engine ever built IMHO.

  12. Ok, like czakky said.. that is most likely the two bullet connectors on the left side of the steering head. It's 18 freakin years old, and they are probably corroded. Take the tank off, pull them apart, squirt em with some DeOxit, put em together, wiggle them around.. oh, you know..

  15. DeOxit may be expensive..but.. just today our robot vacuum cleaner went tits up. Googled the error code it gave, and everyone says, "She's dead, Jim.." It's either the switch which is soldered to the motherboard or the really expensive battery or the connector to it is broken. Unhooked the battery,squirted about a nickle's worth of DeOxit on the switch, cycled it a few times, squirted some on the battery connection and wiggled it around.. and.. it's just like a.... New $400 robot. I can't begin to tell you how much DeOxit has saved me over the years, not to mention keeping my scooters running. Believe me, before I had it, any bike I left sitting next to the ocean at Dorcia's kid's place had electrical issues.

  19. These bikes are meant to last and lately I think of myself as partly curating my Sport for the next owner, whoever they may be It's just like antique airplanes. You don't "own" one, you just maintain it for the next keeper.

  21. Dunno. A Norvin used the repopped Vincent engine coupled to a Norton frame. It was affordable to ordinary mortals, but still expensive.
  22. I'd take an oil stone to it if it's not deep. Just do the best you can to keep the profile.
  23. I toyed with the idea of building one of these back in the 90s. Fortunately, I had an attack of common sense..
