  1. I put 42000 miles on a Centauro. Rode it all over the country. The WP suspension is fine. The engine is more torquey than a 2 valve. That said, Parts are no longer available for the suspension. Many top end parts aren't available, either. The oil pump runs unbushed in the casting, and will need to be addressed, as will the aluminum timing gears. What 68C found was typical. When I first test rode one, I wondered if it would make it back to the dealer. (!) The one he rode was not set up properly either. I've always said the reason they assembled them was to make sure you had all the parts. It was very much a kit bike. It took me fully 2 years to get rid of that last little hiccup, but cemented my love for the Spine frame bikes.
  2. Yep. Gives you something else to think about other than wishing for spring.
  3. Original poster has not been back on since the week of the original posts a year and a half ago . . . I hate it when people do that stuff. Post a problem, get their answer, leave. No thank you, etc. much less throw a couple of bux at the forum.
  4. What Docc says..
  5. Those Titaniums are sweet sounding exhausts..
  6. Now, there's a blast from the past. It's probably been 20 years since I've had Theakstons.
  7. They deserve talking about. After all, they are the last of the *real* Guzzis..
  8. First, I'm not a painter, but I can paint. A little. My Kid taught me well.. I'm *guessing* the RM is a base coat with a "candy" coat over it. Sure, it can be duplicated by someone with a good eye. The scanner Al is talking about will get you close, but it takes someone with an eye to get it perfect. Normally, it's a woman. Without women, there wouldn't be any colors like puce.. Decals are easy with photographs, vinyl cutters for either paint masks or stick on. The KId found this Spot laying on it's side on the floor of a barn, crashed. He repaired, painted, and made the Spot decals, etc. 2016-08-03_05-31-54 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr
  9. Gotcha.. it's silk thread. Red is hard to find..
  10. Real gaskets stop leaks on aircraft engines with their flimsy stamped valve covers. I've used them for years. The screws holding them down not only don't need to be tight.. they *shouldn't* be tight. Just snug em up.
  11. I'd be a lot wealthier, Al.. but I can count on one hand the beers I didn't like.
  12. Grandmother said it would make you go blind..
  13. Al and Dave, yours went out USPS this afternoon. Total is still $53.50 including shipping and fondling. Paypal to 59 dot Chuck at gmail dot com would be fine, or I'll send you my mailing address for a check if that is what you would rather do. Martin.. pinging Martin.. I still don't have your shipping address..
  14. After much tinkering (Yee Haw) in the SoCal canyons this is the recipe that works for me and my dainty 190 lbs. First, the Scura was undersprung from the factory. That needs to be addressed to get the "sag" right. That is number 1. Then.. from maintenance records: set front shock compression +3 from full soft, rebound+6 from full soft. Rear suspension Rebound 24 clicks from full soft, compression 12 clicks from full soft. On smooth roads, totally back off the steering damper.
  15. Did you make the adapters? Nice work..
  16. Who says you can't teach an old dawg new tricks? Part drawn in 3D with new software, sent to the updated cnc mill with a new operating system. Bluetooth handheld gizmo (technical term) that you can walk around with and move any axis as little as .0001". Pretty kool, but a big hill to climb for this old dog.. it's a pleasure to run, though. Got em ran, at any rate. 2018-11-01_10-47-58 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr
  17. Martin, I still don't have your mailing address. Either PM it to me or send it to the above gmail address. I'll be shipping these last three Monday.
  18. Al, Martin, Dave.. I have recently upgraded the cnc and computer, and will use up my available blanks to make some for you. Send your mailing address to: 59dot Chuck at gmail dot com.
  19. Dunno. Don't se any part numbers on your drawing.. 21 is 01161331 24 is 01154631
  20. My parts drawing sez 26 O ring GU 90706010 it goes over the male end of # 21under the nut on 24. It's for an 03, though..
  21. Well, duh.. I finally got an look at the parts manual, and you're in luck. It'll just be that O ring. Probably. At any rate, I'd run it until the next oil change, then take it apart and have a look. It *could* be that gasket..but from your picture, I think it's the o ring. Cheap. Shoulda used AN..
  22. Ok, *if* it is an AN type fitting, the male part coming out of the sump will look like the piece on the left. You can see the flare on the tubing inside the nut. Normally, a failure is a crack in that formed flair. The good thing is.. it's not suddenly going to fail and dump all your oil on the rear tire. The bad thing is you have to take the fitting apart to inspect it, thereby losing all your oil.. 2018-10-30_03-33-13 by Charles Stottlemyer, on Flickr
