  1. Decided to blow off the Midwest Antique Airplane fly in and come to the Fourteenth annual Southern Spine raid instead. Called Walt and straightened out (I hope) a balls up on the reservation. My Sweetie, Dorcia, is coming, too, so we'll put the Mighty Scura in the van. It'll be our 40th anniversary trip. She's a good girl..

  3. I'm having a hard time keeping my wallet closed.
  4. No.
  5. As delivered, the Sport (and the Norge) engine is pretty lean. That is the popping you are hearing. Changing exhausts will make it irritating, and it won't run as well without a new map. Fortunately, there is Guzzi Diag, a free (!) program, and maps available. It is also available for the V11S, and is a wonderful resource.
  6. Must....make...sure...the Mighty Scura doesn't see this.
  7. The 1200 Sport is essentially a naked Norge, and reminds you very much of one when riding it. Pretty refined, civilized, but has that top heavy feel of the Norge. Like the Norge, it is a real mile eater. V11 Sports are a different animal.. but in a good way. It's the last of the *real* Guzzis.. a more elemental machine, that is easy to connect with and addicting *if* you get it.
  8. Good on ya, Docc..
  9. It was several years ago when we ran the Jack-All rig up there, and we were mere youths in our 60s. It was a chore to walk, much less run..
  10. Nice work.. Gotta keep Docc mobile.
  11. Yeah, me too.. but I don't think I'm (ahem) quite that good..
  12. Nice wind chime, Docc..
  13. Picks pretty fair lines..
  14. Very nice.. Greetings to you, too, Niels..
  15. I'm guessing, of course..but.. is likely the culprit.
  16. And which "style" wrench do you prefer Chuck? Inquiring minds... It's hard to beat a beam for accuracy. I have several types, though. I use a clicker in a production application.
  17. A torque wrench is best at the middle of it's range. Shouldn't be off more than 5% from low to high, though..
  18. NEP is my "go to" throttle lock. I have one on the AeroLario since it is my traveling bike.
  19. From my mini Southern Spine Raid report: "After the grand tour, we walked out to the bikes, and Brad said, would you look at that? WTF?" One of the bolts that holds the driveshaft coupler was backed off a thread. Most people would have never seen it, but an aircraft inspector just sees that kind of stuff. Now the question is, Why? That bolt is just not likely to have backed out on its own.. but the Kid is a pretty competent mechanic. He said, I can only guess that I never torqued it properly. I told him that it was no doubt the final test. You are worthy.
  20. There are a couple of bullet connectors on the left side up by the steering neck. Take em apart, spray with DeOxit, put em together, wiggle them around.. oh.. you know. Forget about them for several years.
  21. First, that ain't gonna buff out. Second, I agree with Lucky Phil. It appears to me to be a yoke failure for whatever reason. I would have thought that if a bolt caught on the collar, though, it would be trashed, too. At any rate, the Sausage Creature is ok. That's all that is important..
  22. Isn't tearing down your ride a common theme around spine raid time? That sucks, Docc. I'd help if I could. What was the first clue?
  23. Radial aircraft engine mechanic..
  24. The mighty Scura has been abused sit for long periods ran hard set for long periods Etc. Never a drop.. of course now she is jinxed.
