  1. I've given away several jackets over the years. Gloves get worn out. Helmets, I dumpster when they've passed their "use by" date. My good "old gear" lives in SoCal in semi retirement. Austin is impressed with the almost new jacket I gave him. He's never had a real one..
  2. Thanks, Laurent.. I've been looking for a right one since I got the Mighty Scura several years ago. Pete binned it on the way from picking it up at MPH to SoCal, and beat it up pretty badly. From the pix, yours are better than my "good" one. Sometimes, patience *is * it's own reward.
  3. Oh, I thought it was the one hooked to the throttle bodies.
  4. You'll have a vacuum leak with the hose off. Either hook it up if you want to keep the canisters, or bin them and their mile of hoses, plug the vacuum ports on the manifold, or run a hose from one to the other.
  5. I had two bevels back in the day, an 860GT, and a Darmah. Looking at parts prices, I wouldn't want to restore either. Gimme a Guzzi..
  6. That's what you feel like you get when you are standing at the parts counter..
  7. That's a good looking scooter..
  8. The regulator is a common failure, generally caused by lack of a dedicated ground wire from the regulator mount to an engine case bolt. How did you determine it is the regulator?
  9. Mine idles at 1150.. that's what Guzzi recommends. If yours is at 1000, no wonder it dies.
  10. Yeah, those are killer. I use them on the crown wheel of small blocks. Really pricey, though.
  11. I do pretty much the same as Docc.. balance at around 4000, do the best I can at idle with the air bleeds, and set idle at 1150.
  12. FWIW, the FAA doesn't allow spring lock washers.
  13. Yep, that's them all right. As the Indy used car salesman used to say on 50s TV.. bring your wife, let's dicker. I'll send you a PM..
  14. What Scud says. Take all three off, align everything, assemble. Do it right the first time.. Nothing to it..
  15. I'm interested if they are the same version as mine. There are apparently two versions. How about a picture?
  16. This makes perfect sense, actually. Why would you want to add air to the mixture at idle without fuel? I'll try setting it to 1 turn on both ABS's and then balance it using the white knob (and my CarbTune). Question: if this is really the case, what are the air bleed screws for anyway then? You can tweek the idle balance with the air bleed screws. A little more air causes leaner idle mixture, and it speeds up, and conversely.
  17. I was thinking 1 turn out was about max?
  18. Looks like you already checked for a vacuum leak. Sounds lean, for whatever reason, though. Of course, that means it's probably electrical. Do you have GuzziDiag?
  19. x posted from WG I found a schematic (I'm certainly no electrician) and the ringer here to me is the fuel pump isn't running. If I'm reading this correctly, fuse F1 powers the ECU relay, which triggers the INJ relay, powered by fuse F2, which powers the coils, injection, andfuel pump. You *have* checked for power at fuse F1, and F2, right? Kiwi Roy was right (of course) the headlight being on rules out the ignition switch. There is an Amp connector 35 from the ignition switch that I'd suspect. This deals with the kill switch, sidestand switch, yada yada.
  20. I would check for a vacuum leak.
  21. Attaboy, Scud.. really nice.
  22. Ok, in that case, it sounds like the ignition switch to me. I'd check for power to the sidestand switch and fuse F6.
  23. I looked pretty hard, Docc.. but I don't see a hammer?? I'd think it would take a two pounder for a job that size..
