hey guys...everythings on hold. my bike got hit... http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16203&st=0&gopid=174395entry174395

It was a runner. It was storming here in New York, so I didn't ride in to work, got home and she was laid out. Wouldn't totaling it kill it's value and be a major pain to bet the title clean?

Can you say depressing? My bike got hit while it was parked. Front end got smashed. I'm so depressed. Insurance adjuster is coming tomorrow.

Does anyone know if I can do a straight swap of forks from a 2002 to a 2001 v11 sport without changing the triple tree? gstallons said it should, but i'd like to get a definite before i decide to go through with it. They need to be Marzocchi, i know that. The tubes were measured at 54mm when I went to a shop that actually couldn't work on the bike. Also, i looked them up and it says that the 2001 are "40mm dual adjustable forks". Same for the 2002, but I just want to make sure, the length, the tube size...want to make sure it's a perfect fit without needing a new triple tree. Thanks everyone.

hey guys...can anyone tell me if 2002 fork tubes will fit in a 2001 triple tree?

The caps wil contain the adjustment screws......... Oh ok. I'm new to adjustable forks. Only a year + into bikes. Do you have pictures and how much do you want for them? Can you hold them till i find out what exactly i need?
-
If you want to buy them I'll sell the extra caps from mine. I think the issue is more then the fork caps. I need the adjustment screws and i'm not sure what else. Are you just selling the caps?

Hey guys, been swamped at work...luckily got the day off tomorrow. I'll get some pictures up then. Thanks for all the advice. Like I said earlier, I won't be doing the work myself. Live in NYC and don't have the space, inside or out, to work on it. But I'll get some pictures up. Any other pictures you guys need to see of the forks except for the caps?

So? You haven't lived until you see your bike fall over right before your eyes ,then give a harangue so filthy Chris Rock would call the cops on you. don't ask how I know. p.s. when you remove the second fork cap the front suspension IMMEDIATELY colapses. This action takes place best on dirt bikes with long travel suspension. With my first bike, i did come outside to see it on it's side, cursing the heavens and the bastard that knocked it over, only to realize the concrete caved in under one side of the centerstand. Heavy rains today in NY. I'll try for pictures again tomorrow. I got caught in heavy rain on my ride home and got soaked straight trough. Not enjoyable.

hey everyone, thanks for all the helpful ideas. I'll try to get some pictures up here tomorrow. I live in NYC, so working on the bike myself is kind of impossible. Don't have the space to keep all the tools needed. Plus, I'm new to bikes, so I don't know enough to dig into them myself with confidence.

hey richard, Thanks for commenting. I brought my bike to works engineering (worksengineering.com) in brooklyn. The Guzzi guy there, eric, took a look at my bike and saw that the fork adjustment screws were both broken. Before that, when I adjusting the forks, fork oil was leaking out through the adjustment screw on the left fork. He said that it is not easy to replace the adjustment screws and not cheap. He said it may be easier and cheaper to replace the fork tubes. Plus, I have been planning on getting rid of the clip-ons and putting handlebars on it, so getting a different triple tree might be an option instead of machining my current one. Do you have an idea what it would cost to get my current forks fixed from the info I've provided?

So it turns out I need a new front end. I've heard that monster and buell front ends fit. Anyone have any ideas about this? any recommendations. Don't want to completely break the bank.

wish I had a garage....Can't do it in NYC...not yet anyway. Don't know enough yet, to tear em apart. I'm going to check out PPS though...Thanks for that. I rather not spend a 1000 to fix them, so I think I'll go the standard route for now. I'm not getting crazy yet.

Another day, another issue. Thanks everyone for the help with the stalling and the handlebar tips....now onto something new! yippy fricken skippy. Looks like the past owner pulled a fast one on me. So, bike runs with a new battery, no problem. it's going fine. I bring it to my friends Duc dealer, he gives it a once over, tells me what he thinks. I mention that the past owner said something about needing fork oil, he said we'll take a look. The suspension was very tight and I've never had a bie with the fork adjustments before so i didn't want to mess with them without some insight first. So he looses them up, says they seem alright. Tells me to bring it back when I want to do the bars, fix the gauge and put on the new rear tire. So, I'm off...I get about a mile down the road and what I think is bird shit hits me in the face. My friend is with me and he's laughing hysterically. I wipe it off and I look down to start my bike back up, and I see this whitish liquid coming from the fork adjustment screw hole. I bring it back the shop and he says we'll need to take a look later. for now, just tighten it down and it's ridable. So that's where I am right now. Anyone have any idea what's happening here? I want to try and figure why I'm looking at, cost wise, to get this fixed. The Duc guy recommended I send the front suspension out to http://www.racetech.com/ or http://www.gpsuspension.com. he says they do custom suspension based on your weight. Don't know what that will run me, but I'm going to check it out. anyway, thanks again for all your help people. Maybe if any of you are ever in new york, i'll buy you a beer.

Ryan Moto International have what you need, see Guzziology. Depending on which model your bike is you can use a top clamp of a Cali and what ever bars you like. I did this and used Yamaha SR 500 bars from the wreckers. Some machining involverd here and you may require extra weighted bar end weights to quell the vibration. B. Hey Syd, thanks. I've got a 2001 v11 sport. Is any drilling involved in the triple tree? Did you perform this yourself? If not, what did it cost you?

Hey Guys, I recently joined up here. I posted asking for help with stalling issues and everyone was so helpful that I thought I'd ask for more help. Turns out I need new clip-ons and if I have to get new bars, i'd like to have a higher ride. Does anyone have any recommendations for getting a more upright position? I've seen some posts here on doing handlebars which I really like. Want I need to find out is what parts I need to do the change. Can you get it straight from guzzi or is there another company that's good where the parts are interchangeable? I'm not adverse to doing clip-ons if I can get a set that sit up higher. Does anyone know a set I can get? Thanks again, -ryan

How do I delete this? don't need them anymore.

He everyone...Thanks for all your help. I'm borrowing a friends extra battery and the bike starts up. I still have issues with it stalling out while i ride. I've had to do a few push starts, 2 on the williamsburg bridge (luckily on the downhill side). I did replace the 30 fuse when the whole problem started and the new one looks a little melted already. could that have something to do with it? Also, my brake light stays one. Roy has been e-mailing me on how to check for that issue, but I'm thinking that could be draining the battery. My idle is right around the proper level on 1000-1100, so i don't think that's it.

I guess there arn't any, you will just have to roll up your sleeves like the rest of us man, i wish i had a garage.

Any body know a good guzzi mechanic in NYC? I'm new to guzzis and could use a trust worthy wrench.
