  1. while i've not found my '02 LeMans clip-ons uncomfortable (i'm 5'8", although kinda long inseam & arms,) although no back pain from riding, i've always had neck pain. and always had *sport* bikes. quite by accident after my last helmet purchase (AGV S-4 couple years ago) i found my neck pain gone. realized the visor cutout has a higher vision area and i'm not having to tilt my head up to see now. what a difference. i guess bar risers would kind of do the same thing by lifting the body up a tad. i did have to lower the pegs an inch though, that really helped, especially after the knee replacement. good luck
  2. Anyone went with 2" drop pegs? - 24/7 V11 - Moto Guzzi V11LeMans.com Forum
  3. yeah, the white face veglia odometer lasts a bit longer, mine went breasts up at 19001 miles a couple years ago, although the trip meter & speedo still work fine. apart from that, she's been trouble free, & great fun to ride...... and will always be low mileage. welcome, WG & i hope you enjoy your '02 as much as i do mine. steve
  4. i know the 12" atlas, friend is a custom bicycle framebuilder, he has one. chuck, i actually ran a leBlond regal MANY years ago in a jr.college course, a VERY nice lathe. if i ever retire, i'll have to buy a bigger lathe, as at home i only have a 9" south bend. i've had it about 35yrs, & actually cut a couple whitworth screws for an old norton i had. seems many M/C riders have a soft spot for machine tools. cheers, steve
  5. yeah, these sightings are quite rare. especially in the sticks where i live. about a year & half ago i was at liquor store close by( bottle of single malt) & a person on a blue 1100 sport (WTF? talk about rare) was just leaving, haven't seen it since. BTW, i always look at lathes on the back of trucks, occupational hazzard i guess. what kind, what size? cheers. steve
  6. if you have a welder or a friend with one, try running a small stripe of weld on the inner race, when it cools it'll shrink & come right out..
  7. tom, although i haven't creased my mistrals yet, (although i've come close) i'll be on the lookout for some harpoon IPA in my neighborhood. cheers s
  8. thanks for the input guys. chuck, i looked at H.F. #95987 & it looks like a neat project on my lathe, & i have a slide hammer. i have made similar expanding collets for machining blind hole pieces at work. but......probably a lot cheaper & faster to just buy the puller....... cheers, steve
  9. anyone have the part # for the harbor freight wheel bearing puller? this sounds much safer than pounding them out. all of my pullers seem to have gone awol since last time i moved. thanks, steve.
  10. don't be overly scared of the '02 bikes. i think they get kind of a bad rap. i've had my '02 for about 4 yrs, it's been very reliable & always a blast to ride, & i ride it a lot. only thing has broken is the odometer, speedo & tripometer still work fine. (white faced veglia) and from what i've read, the shift pawl spring failure is kind of an across the board thing with all of our bikes, not specific to '02 bikes, i haven't had the problem, but i intend to put a new one in soon, kind of a preemtive strike. as far as being the 4th owner....i don't think guzzi's are for everyone, and as neat as having a guzzi sounds, a lot of owners end up selling soon, & buying something more mainstream. anyway, i think the guzzi picks you, not the other way around. good luck with your hunt cheers, s
  11. there was a burgundy V11 sport for sale in portland some time back, i saw it somewhere...it was pretty nice. maybe the same bike, as you're from oregon (and there's not that many burgundy V11's, or any V11s for that matter). as for the purple stock pipes, i've seen them on photos of other V11's. could the finish on some of the stock bikes turn that color over time? can't tell you what to do, but i love mine & would buy it again in a heartbeat. cheers, steve
  12. if you guys do this, count me in for $20 also, email me. i went down on my street bicycle last week, front end washed out on some wet maple leaves, my fault, traveling WAY to fast. not hurt, bike was OK. had it been the LeMans, i suspect i'd be buying myself new headguards. (and turn signal, & mirror and new mistral, and clutch lever, and, and, and.....) be safe out there, steve
  13. well, not crazy about the bike, but...i do like odd art objects. and it's really quirky. and you're right, those pipes really are...something... and, the presentation was great, thanks cheers, stef
  14. first time i changed my oil & filter i looked at guzzitech page on V11 sport capacities. it was listed as 3.5 litres, 3.7 us qts, or 3.08 imp. qts. that's how much i put in and with the bike warm & level & dipstick NOT screwed in it reads at the full mark. find out where your dipstick reads when full on sidestand, level or whatever and keep it there. i keep it at full (not a problem as it doesn't use oil) & as i don't (yet) have a roper plate i DON'T EVER want to see the oil light come on. this is what works for me, as always YMMV. cheers, steve
  15. keep us posted on the fenda extenda when you add that, i,ve also been thinking of one of those. cheers
  16. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=17072&st=0&p=182936&fromsearch=1entry182936 there's been lots written on this topic, hopefully this thread will help. i have a write up on what i did with 1" drop buell pegs. it made a HUGE difference for me. after a month or so i extended the brake & shifter ends 1/2" as bsmarble recommended & it's even better. i have a lathe, but you can do all this with hand tools & a drill with a little ingenuity. BTW i went out for a somewhat spirited 150 mi. gallop today between rainstorms (that'll last until next july) & got 40.7 MPG US. cheers, steven
  17. hmmmmm....they do look a tad large for watchmakers collets....
  18. every time i fill up (premium of course) i always do MPG (US gallons) it's always 37-40 mpg, doesn't seem to matter how i ride it, almost always the same. and the tripometer seems to be right on, although the speedo says 85 when we're doing 80 (and the odometer packed it in couple thousand mi. ago) has mistrals & power commander. bike will ping (loudly) when warm & accelerating hard in one gear too low, so i keep the revs up, bike is happy. she runs great. i've never seen my low fuel light on, don't know if it works, but have never gone beyond 160 miles. cheers, stef
  19. hello bandit. xlnt choice in the V11 sport. given a bit of maintainance these bikes are quite reliable & great fun to ride. but(from what i've read & experienced)the guages can be problematic & you'll have to make peace with that. cheers & happy riding
  20. boy, no kidding. and no guard rails there, eh? Hooahh. talk about a white knuckle ride, thanks for that.
  21. well, i do not have a scura, but i did have a black suzuki GS750E that i purchased new. it was a good motorbike that in a moment of weakness i sold. so it goes.
  22. the memory thing is called CRS (i think). although i cannot remember what those letters stand for....
  23. i believe it was slav who posted a photo of his V11 dis-assembled all over his living room floor with the pork chops hanging on the wall, still makes me smile. he'll be missed, such sad news
  24. My last dirt bike (which i bought new) was an '87 CR500, essentially the same bike. I rode MX, enduro, cross country & hillclimbs on it for a number of years. what i remember most about it (after the constantly bruised right arch, from kickstarting the beast) was the power when hillclimbing, which was almost like cheating. That, and it was WAY more competitive than i was. stef
  25. So far none of you mentioned the prime necessity, the you-know-what. ping/snap jesus clip pliers? edit on further inspection of the port side photo there they are...well now....hmmmm
