Hey guy, unfortunatly my schedule has changed a bit. I am still suck in Afghnaistan for the next couple of weeks. Looks like April for my return. I'll post when I have them availalbe..

Hey guys, I appreciate the comments and requests and I will make sure I get them done while I am on break in March. That time of year in Northern New York is still a bit too early for any serious riding, so I should have the time to get them done. Please be patient, and I'll post when I am ready to ship to all who have requested. Thanks again. Ride safe

Hey guys, I appreciate the continued interest in the guard and support for my current work situation. I was home for a few days in December and managed to get a couple pieces done and out and I am sorry if I missed those that I had promised already. I received plenty of stock and have already templated and cut all. All that is left is the hand forming but unfortunately, that will have to wait until March since I have not figured how to get a goose over here yet! I promise my next trip home I will get them formed and done and post here for those that are still interest. In the mean time, Ride Safe

My brother passed this site on to me and I do not remember if it has been posted here already but it is worth the visit. Although a bit of a graphic reality check of what lies out there there is something to be learned here. Having been downed by a SUV a couple of years ago, I get it, and remember everyday http://home1.gte.net/res0ak9f/bike.htm ride safe MG brothers, Edge

Bill, I would finish the job of paint removal and have them polished. Have them polish the head guards too, you wont be disapointed, it will beat the layout for new covers.

I have watched this on unfold for the past 30 years with the military, and you have hit the nail on the head. Bottom line is; the past decade has really escalated with the young 20 somthing soldier/airman/seaman or marine on a gixxer or some "RR" that has put the military "instItution" into this corner. Their safety centers look at the daily carnage and try to reduce the loss of life through mandatory compliance guidance. I too have endured the MSF training (and learned), and get dressed to enter the base with resentment but I also understand the awareness it is all trying to instil. Granted the dress and visibility codes do not stop all the accidents but they certainly make you think about "safety", reduce the numbers, and the severity of some. Granted it won't save the kid with a couple of beers in him blowing through a traffic light, not making a turn due to excessive speed, or the sudden stoppage a maple tree offers. Don't get me wrong, I don't like the policies anymore than some, but I know why they are there. I applaud your efforts but I am not sure you'll win this one. Anything that goes against "Force Protection" is probably not going to get much traction, especially when an organizatin like the Army, often looses more soldiers to off duty motor vehicle accidents than in combat. As for freedoms, or right to chose; as you know, you surrender most of those at the gate when you enter any military installation. This is true for military and civilians a like. In the US, I feel it is almost criminal to sell a first time bike owner a high strung crotch rocket. You cannot expect good things to happen without any training (MSF or otherwise). A 600cc bike today compared to 20-30 years ago is not the "entry" bike it used to be. Ok, rant off (and no I am not a safety guy)... And on the good side... There is this guy at the gate on a Goose I find the gate folks actually cut me a bit of slack at times due to either the admiration of the mark or the mature guy that is driving it. I often get the wave through without much hasel as they recognize the bike and know I am probably not part of the problem. ride safe my brothers

Pete, I am in for one too. I would expect a prototpye or two in the process so please keep us posted as you proceed and get it right before you pull the trigger on the big run. also, based on the 3 pages of "I want one too" responses, it is clear we all have nothing but respect for your wrenching and honest approach to community. thanks

I believe Will C. has already worked the niggles out of that bike with Guy. I know Guy spent many hours getting it right with the mods and maps. I was lucky enough to get a few mile in the seat of that bike in the Adirondacks last year and it was a wonderfull ride re. the ceramic coating, Guy had problems with that pretty early, it wasn't too bad when I last saw it but it needs to be redone with better prep or thickness. Not sure what the cause was but there was a little rust like blead through in spots

Well I am not sure what rock I have been hiding under while I missed Enzo's return. I honestly thought Enzo had left the building and sold off the cobra in favor of the thundering Honda??? Well, anyway, welcome back and thanks for the latest incarnation of the Ghetto Goose. Bravo

John, I use the TBR setup with the longer of the three risers. Modest improvement but in the right direction of up and back. They fit fine under the fairing and for an under the TT install the pain was minimal. I use the Buell peg mod as a cost/cosmetic/availability compromise over the Centauro peges. both mods, along with keeping the speed up, help me bunches. One of these days I'll do the RM seat which should have been first IMO. ride safe and welcome,

That bit is a "Laminar Lip" I bought that to increase the pocket and reduce helmet buffetting. At the time I paid $65US for it. Love or hate the looks, it is moderatly effective in increasing comfort. At the time i bought the LL, the "MRA touring windshield was not readily available. For a little more money, you get a new windshiled that is better suited for touring and IMO looks a bit better too. I won't switch now but there are other options if more windshiled is something you are looking for. FWIW; The LL doesn't really do much until you get up to speed in the 65+mph and then it does what it is designed to do and increase the pocket and reduce helmet buffeting. This is the web if you want to know more about the product(s): http://www.laminarlip.com/

Hey guys, I am really sorry to inform all looking for another run on the edge gards that I will be out of the fabrication business for the next 6 months due to my return to Afghanistan. I am enjoying my last couple days at home and it is not possible to order the plastic and get them turned around before I launch out of here. I will be glad to do another run in September (yeah I know, a long time but probably shorter than waiting for MG parts!!). When I get back in the groove, I'll post on the board and respond to those that PM'd me for availability. Again, I am sorry I just can't kick them out in time

BBR; There are several threads here from a while ago that give a good rundown on how to and what was done. If I remember right, I think Al R. had done a little work in that area. Suggest board search "headlight modulator"

The walnut shells are an industry standard in aviation. Works well on alloys but as mentioned above, be carefull of the oil passages as they will get cloged if not properly cleaned. Albeit not MG related but there was an infamous CH-47 (Chinook) helicopter accident over Manhiem Germany back in the early 80's that was attributed to depot maintenance using walnut shells to blast a transmission clean during overhaul. Long story short, gear box failed due to oil starvation from cloged gallies (walnut shells) with resultant rotor mesh @ 8,ooo' over Manhiem with a sport parachute team abord. Pretty horrendous accident with most not making it... a few survivors were able to un-ass the bird and sequence through the rotors unscathed

Doc, I have used Orrin Meyers a few times and is very quick and resonable. He has done my valve covers, sliders and other bits. 100% satisfied. He'll strip, polish, etc.. He'll give you a quote if you need before you ship. http://home.mchsi.com/~jdm366/wsb/html/vie...home.html-.html

It helps a little with the rain. I did a 3 hour run last fall in non stop cold rain. I still had to tuck behind it when it got heavy but it was much better (at speed) than w/o. It also helps move the pocket up a bit and does it's share with the bugs too (It does nothing at lower speeds). The looks are not for every one, and with the availability of the MRA, I would go the extra 20 and go MRA if I had to do it all again. Not worth it to change now, I am happy with the LL and will keep it. I see them on eBay now and then as people ditch the LL in favor of the MRA or just don't like it
-
I think they are available in smoked too.. Might look a bit better on the BB
-
I use one on a lemans and I am happy with it moving the pocket up a little at speed. not the best looking bit but it is functional, I think the MRA is a better deal for lemans but I cannot speak for a coppa bug diverter

Just checked my 2002 again and and no corrosion, cracks, etc...

Ya'll need to be very carefull with the MEK... Nasty, nasty stuff! Cancer, blindness, nerve damage, etc.. A HAZMAT & MSDS nightmare Don't get me wrong, that shit is a great cleaner and will strip the paint to the metal before you know what happend Ya just have to handle with care.

Concur.. Seat is comfy enough but the Mrs. might not appriciate the leg position especially when compared with the dual sport
