Myself and a bunch of buddies will be riding up from Kentucky, its an annual event for us - will be on the harley's - baggers, thats our long haul bikes but there are two lemans owners in the group, myself and another guy and we always walk around and check out the bikes looking for guzzi's and other interesting rides. If I see ya, will give you a shout out.

Just wanted to express my appreciation for this thread! I always get a "happy ending" now when I visit this site. Unlike WG and other "prudish" sites that dont allow such content....

I test rode a couple of buells before I test rode a guzzi v11 lemans, the buell (firebolt) was fun but I felt it was too small, my head felt like it was over the front wheel. I felt more comfortable on the guzzi, and liked the motor and looks better. I'm an engineer by trade and actually was set on the firebolt cause i like Erics engineering ideas, but to hear the bike run (the stock pipes sounded like crap) and actually ride one turned me off. Im 5'11" and about 220lbs, If your 5'8" and 170lbs a firebolt might fit... I am in love with the lemans and its a keeper, no serious issues to date. Have you considered a KTM? Their super motard, adventure, and Duke bikes look pretty good, they have excellent engineering. I have a KTM 450EXC dirt bike that I abuse regularly, Im impressed with how well that baby performs too. Should have bought stock in them about 10 years ago.

Sad news, I love the look/handling/character of the lemans, mine is a keeper for sure. They will probably bring that name "lemans" back around in a few years with some styling changes as they have done in the past (sure beats the name "Norge").

Todd, I dont have a line item list of stuff that was supposed to be included. So the items I got appears to be complete? I had thought that side bags were to be included in the soft luggage kit - but wasnt sure, the stuff I got sure looks nice. would love to have some side bags to go with it though. Judge

What exactly am I supposed to get with this soft luggage kit? I got a box in today. It had a backpack, tank bag, tail bag and rear aluminum rack. It did not have side saddlebags. Did you guys get them with your warranty claim (2002 lemans bubble paint issue).

Nathan at Orange county triumph sold my buddy a 2002 lemans about 2 months ago, and then after he let me ride it I knew I had to have one too (I had been buell shopping but I just didnt fit those small things)... took about 3 weeks total to get the bike, in fact just got it last weds, put about 100 miles on it so far riding around the recent bad weather. A couple of small issues, tail light was shorted out (blown fuse) due to the license plate lamp wires pinched under the mounting bracket - took about an hour to find it - fortunately there is a wiring diagram in the owners manual. Also had a loose mounting bolt on the right side of the engine detailed in another post here. Im very pleased with the deal and love the bike.

Wish I had a picture but it is on the x mission side, a long bar that comes up to the case with a 8mm socket head, bolt diameter is larger than that, I ended up backing it out as much as I could (the head eventually hits the exhaust header pipe while backing out) - coated the exposed threads with anti-sieze and re-tightened - hand torqued it as tight as I would a spark plug.

Got a 2002 Lemans, noticed the right rear engine mounting bolt is loose, anyone have any idea of the proper torque for these bolts (8mm socket heads). Also need to check the front ones (10 mm socket head) anyone got torque info for these??

I will bring up the paint issue as a point of price negotiation for sure - see what kind of bargains can be had. looks like I may as well plan on having problems with paint and be pleasantly surprised if I dont...

Looking at a new 2002 lemans but after researching here have discovered the bubble paint issue. still left with some questions. What is the percentage of 2002 models with black engines that have the bubbling issue? all of them? does anyone have a 2002 without bubbles? also how long is it before the bubbles start to show up (mileage wise)?
