  1. No: – other inspiring quotations/sayings/phrases, as I've got a free space in my sig. It's a void that needs filled. And Alex could be the man to do it. Watch what you say. I quite like this extract, "If you kike it you can use it" but really there has to be something more. A typo only goes so far, when it comes to filling life's empty voids.
  2. (You're not making a veiled reference to the T*nni Forum, are you?)
  3. Thanks, much appreciated, but you are confusing 'time' with 'buttery mashed potatoes'. I'm still open to other suggestions
  4. Some strange comments. The fast idle does what it's supposed to do. My fast idle will take it all the way up to racing speed. Red line – as I remember. If you're only getting a minute little movement /difference in revs – that can't be right? I've always found that it starts ok even in cold weather. Wind the throttle a little, or set the fast idle, and fire it up. Docc's comment about bike stored inside and then started outside is interesting. Maybe that does cause some sensory confusion for the beast. Mine lives outside. There have been stark differences of opinion here as to whether the engine should be left to rev as a bit of a warm-up, or started and driven-off immediately. So there's no unanimous view.
  5. That was my question as well. Why should filters be coming off? They're just not being put on right...???
  6. What's a '98 V.11EV?
  7. I'd love to believe that Jeremy Clarkson is made-up. A figment.
  8. While there is still such a thing as road racing** try the North West 200 ** http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5184 http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=6427 http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7484 http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8307 http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=8673 etc
  9. As mentioned, the Quat-D exhaust is the one. Try a search in Tech Topics and maybe 24/7 for more info, or ask again here... I don't think that hugger, which partially covers the top area of the rear tyre, is a lot of use. It's just (perhaps)cosmetically better that the original plastic part. I would prefer one that covers right down to the swingarm level.
  10. Hmmmmmmmmmmmm.........something related to machinery, preferably motorbikes or time
  11. Excellent! I might have to put that in my sig. sometime. In fact, can I try it now? Ok, nice. I've got space for one more special and inspirational quotation. Anyone?
  12. It's shaped to sit higher than the Quat – which is a GOOD THING. See what's been done with the back brake Have you searched around to see what the actual buying price is for one of these?
  13. Didn't get what the link was pointed to, as copying the link just ghives the help page, but did spot 'The Folks on the Hill' after clicking the Northern Ireland link. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/northern_ireland/default.stm Fortunately for you, you'll not recognise many of the characters and none of the stories.
  14. allegedly those names are clearly made-up
  15. Has it gone down Under? You'll find it in Ropey's Beach Hut, being entertained by an Irishman and a bevy of cooks and hand-maidens.
  16. I really don't think so. The bend must be the coil bend. Is that not the 'hook' end that is pointing up towards the camera? Did you compare it directly against the new spring to see if the short, sharp angled hook bend at the end was the same, or as you seem to be saying, different, on both? Edit: ok – I see your edit. As for non-standard break, well it may be a bit of a lottery as to where exactly it breaks. The thing is that it broke in the section that is stressed when the coil binds. Often the other end of that section breaks – it is stretched more for the sharp bend – but I guess it could break at either bend (at either end of the short section). I'd still be suspicious that it wasn't a loose enough fit around the boss, somehow there wasn't enough space to allow the full movement that that bit of wire is forced to make. I'd be lookiing carefully at that boss again – size and shape. On the other hand, maybe there are batches of bad springs with weak wire? ?
  17. At first I thought that was what you intended, but surely it's not right? That bend to the right must be the bend of the broken spring coil. Turn it through 180 degrees. Like this:
  18. Try UK dealers to see what they have and what the current price is. Cost of the manual fluctuates wildly. There are printed copies in loose leaf pages, printed copies in folders with proper covers, photocopied pages... all at very different prices. If I remember, I paid top whack for the unbound pages, around £100 (the actual price is another recent thread somewhere) but I ordered it before I had the bike and before I knew anything about Guzzi parts prices etc. and I had no idea that the thing would be so expensive – when I ordered the dealer told me he didn't know what price the manual would be. Afterwards, when I checked with other dealers, I could have got the same thing for £40. So check around. Try Motomecca.
  19. Save the mascot money and start a clock tower fund instead. The current site clock is a bit on the small side, don't you think?
  20. It only seems right that we establish the facts around this incident
  21. How fat are you? What width was the mountain road?
  22. Our friend, DeBen, has a liking for the fine things too. He has MANY favourites, I'm sure the car is one of them. At least, it will be if he sees it.
