  1. Class. That's the way to do it. Keep the tank clean and put the name on the motor.
  2. I'll NEVER get a quiz point
  3. There's no bodging on a Scura, only fettling. In future, all work on a Scura should really be referred to as 'Screttling'. "I'm got some new sandpaper, so I'm going out to the garage to screttle the Scura." I imagine that Tennis get pampered, rather than bodged, so the specific technical term for pampering a Tenni would be,'to Tamper'. "I'm off to the hair salon: it's time that I had the Tenni tampered with." If only because of its name, the Norge is probably the Guzzi most deserving of a bodge. In this case, we need to talk of,'Nordging'. "When I busted the headlamp of my new Norge on a camping trip to South Cape, I couldn't get a replacement, so I had to nordge a fix using a 35W flourescent strip from the campsite toilets." As for the naked Norge, well we all know that the best thing to do with it is give it a good bash. "The Breva dripped on the garage floor again last night. Give me a rolled up newspaper. I'll give it a bashing that it won't forget." What do you do to a Griso? What will it do to you, more like.
  4. Snarl. You beat me to it. I thought I was in line for a quiz point at last.
  5. Woah.... you coulda blown-up the whole internet thingy doing that!! You'll need to come up with something better than that if you want Al to look at it. He only checks out tanks that have double vortex self-rectifying push-pull return valves – minimum – and are lined underneath with leopardskin pill-box hat lining. Sheeeeesh No. There's another word for that
  6. Looks great. This isn't really the right thread to start asking about things that aren't BigBores, but... you mention foam tank pad. Do the early bikes have foam pads set on top of the tanks? Mine's the big plastic lump that is set on and in a large recess in the tank top. Perhaps it looks 'good', but it makes a pretty poor surface to set a tank bag on! As a matter of interest, do you have or are you putting any logos (MG or anything else) on the bike – or are you keeping it all plain, solid colour?
  7. You forgot the springs. I think one broke, somewhere. oh yeah, & the avatars have a Curious Bug. There's a new bike too. Called the Breva. No one in America has seen it yet though, so you could be the first with that news.
  8. You're surprised, at this old boy? Perhaps it was the 1880's?
  9. (thanks to slug)
  10. mmmm..nice, nice, nice. Did you recover the seat or is that some sort of special paint?
  11. Oh well. Try this one: That's nice.
  12. That's Scura Gang – with a capital G – to you, laddie
  13. Aprilia wheel clamp – 22Nm seems about right, sensibly snug, and I'd give it another wee nip up. ________ Now I've got home and I've checked in the manual. I guess what they mean about the prescribed torque is the generic values in the table in Section B, page 12 so for no.8 you'd be going for 25 to 30 Nm. That would be it. The other thing that interests me in this dept. is the value for the rear wheel axle. I don't understand Guzzi's diagram in Section F where it shows 28 – 30 Nm as the tightening torque for the axle/spindle. The table says 120Nm Rear wheel spindle screw (housing side). Also: why does it specify 'housing side'? --------- ---------- BTW I see that Aprilia's axle/nut tightening torques are 80 front and 120 rear
  14. you must have walked into Orange County Choppers. Don't be leaving your stuff in there, boys.
  15. I can't see that it's necessary to be overly concerned about having to use a torque wrench on these. I did them all up 'sensibly tight' and the wheel hasn't fallen off yet. I used a standard thread locker, not high strength stud locker.
  16. Sometimes you have to play the T*nni Guys at their own game. They think they're the pretty ones, but you know, there's something about black...
  17. ...and you better not say that to my face
  18. Look, I'm not responsible for the shape of the thing. This is the bike that Guzzi use in their handbook illustrations. They must get the guy who assembles the gearboxes to do these drawings. He hasn't a clue where the parts go. Anyway, that's irrelevant to the competition.
  19. Mines a Scura
  20. Griso arrival?
  21. Look in the Norge
  22. Try the Griso Palais de Sin for that
  23. If you can – there's a Quiz Point in it. Well, I can't actually confirm that, as Jaap may not agree. But I'm counting on the fact that Christmas is coming: surely he'll be giving them away then?
  24. Ha!! You can't resisting coming into THE gang hut, can you?
  25. That's def. far too much. BTW, you're charged seperately for environmental disposal AND tyre disposal The price I mentioned was £179 for the pair – including vat, fitting, balancing, disposal and one stainless steel valve... That's generally what you should be paying if you buy and have them fitted in the same place. Not over £300. Of course full Recommended Retail is much higher, but it shouldn't be the real price. Guzzirider's site has good prices.
