Does anyone know the part numbers of Ohlins suspension as fitted on the 2002 models? Can you add any more info to this? Edit: thanks, I've added some more numbers in now. 1 Ohlins, MG 2002 Front Forks The forks are Road & Track 43mm's (on website: FG 43) Code number: FG 8470 2002.01.25 (Right) FG 8470 2002.01.23 (Left) spec: Springs: std 8.5 N/mm? or 9? R&T43 oil Oil level / air gap: 80 to 110mm. Stock gap is 85mm (can more people confirm this?). Dave L posted these figures: "Here is the Fork Spring Info (from an Ohlins Fork Manual, but not the Scura manual...): " OEM spring rate 4745-95, 9,5 N/mm Optional springs: 4745-75, 7.5 N/mm (marking -75). (MG kit: MG 127, shock absorber 46 HRCS) "Ohlins list 46HRCS as aftermarket fitment has remote preload adj (S) so... ours would be 46 HRC (Ext res =H, Adj reb =R, Adj comp =C). Presumably they do not supply 46HRC set up for V11. [baldini has] 100N/mm (85 std) spring but may go for next stiffer in future." "Cycle World changed shim stack, reducing comp damping by approx 5%" The Rear Spring is Code number: 1091 - 26/85 L511 1091 is part no. for 160mm long spring (1093=150mm) 26/85: 26 is Ohlins code for 85N/mm spring rate L*** is just a batch no. spec: -Spring is 160mm long- -approx 80mm outside diameter -made with approx 11mm diameter rod (10 mm wih coating ?) -has 5 complete coils at full thickness or 6 complete coils with taper of spring included. 2 Ohlins, MG 2003/04 revised suspension, numbers/spec: ??????????? What's the difference? Info from previous posts. This info isn't comprehensive or up-to-date. A lot more on personal settings/adjustments has been posted since this thread was originally done: 3 More on custom changes Baldini, about 200lbs, changed springs: Front – 10 from 8.5 AND increased air gap to 100mm Rear – 100 from 85 "W/heavier springs I reduced damping - b (now 6-12 clix out) & f - & got a better ride... it's working on the spring rather than the damping - damping's to control speed. Setting comp damping for comfort means bike moves around a bit more. At first this is a bit disconcerting but only becomes a problem if pushing really hard on bumpy roads or you can't trust your tyres. I use Guzzi book pressures, which are lower than manuf rec'd." DBD, 252lbs, had changes: Pro Pilot revalved both the front forks and the rear shock as well as changing the stock spring on the rear shock to a heavier one. • "Valving front and back were modified for weight, and plushness with more controlled damping from the initial compression, smother transition into mid-stroke, and rest of travel with applicable bottoming resistance corrected for rider weight. Should feel "more controled action" (less springy and jumpy) thru whole stroke front and rear with more usable function at adjusters (better damping / much more comfy)" • forks: a slightly different weight oil, (245/262W) rather than heavier fork springs. Pro Pilot didn't feel the range increase was worth the expense of changing springs. • spring: SPG 1091-29 261F/248INS 13MM PRE. (Doesn't match number format above?) DBD says, I assume the 29 number refers to the rate, the 261 is the length and the 248 indicates the preloaded length as installed?

Ain't it grand (I think they had them knocking around in the parts bin, the one where the keep the furry slipper material and the green paint that was left over from that time they planned to paint the windtunnel but had second thoughts when they saw the colour.)

Re. eccentric screw: But it's in the wrong place (as far as I can see). I think that the piece you found might be the roll pin that could have dropped out when the case was taken apart. In your photo, the spring seems to be in place ok and therefore, presumably, not broken. Can you post a photo of the spring and/or the piece that you found? I had added this edit note to my previous post, but you might not have seen it as it's on the previous page (on my browser anyway): "Another Edit: actually, sorry, it probably is broken. In the photo it looked like it is still in place but there is only one turn showing in the coil. Did the hooked end break off?"

I wondered that, but does anyone actually know? My bike is 2002 and it doesn't have those changes which are really 2003/04, aren't they? If I hadn't read this thread I would (when I get around to doing this) have followed MG's instruction and used 465 – seems that could be wrong?

There is info somewhere about setting the eccentric adjuster. (Posted about a month ago?) But hang on – are you sure that you have the parts in the right positions? In the photo, is that the eccentric adjuster, sitting there? Perhaps back to front? Surely that is where the roll pin goes? It is a stop for the pawl arm. You also need to get those two big toothed rings in exactly the right position – the right relationship to each other, when you put it all back together. Check the F.A.Q. for more info. I'm a bit confused by your photo. Check this thread, which has a photo and the exploded diagram in it. Check here Edit: Yes, I think that's the eccentric screw that you must have screwed the lock-nut off and then screwed it right out of the casing. That end should be on th eoutside of the case. Do you still have the little roll-pin? Are you sure the spring is broken? It looks like it could be ok? Another Edit: actually, sorry, it probably is broken. In the photo it looked like it is still in place but there is only one turn showing in the coil. Did the hooked end break off?

Why are the settings different? What changed for 2002? What does MY mean or stand for? (as in V.11 MY 2001or V.11 MY 2002/2003) Thanks...

Yes, Ireland is, geographically, part of the British Isles. The Republic is not part of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. My experience in trying to deal with mail order from England is that although companies bill themselves as being 'THE BEST [whatever] in the UK!!', some of them actually mean England and they have refused to sell to / deliver to N.I. :!: After complaining to one major company, they changed their advertising (could have been coincidence) from being 'the best... in the U.K.' to 'the best... in the Nation.' Nation?

Yes, mine are well worn after 6K while the fronts are still as good as a new pair of EBCs! That surprised me. The EBCs don't have the vertical grooves cut in the front pads: how do the Ferodos compare with the originals? EBC were £50 for front & rear. Didn't price Brembo as there is nowhere to walk in and buy them, but I assumed they'd be a lot more expensive. Ferodo (premium?)?

I think Baldini & maybe some others posted the UK contact/mail order address here before. Do a search and it should turn up. I'm waiting to see if they have a stand at the local bike show, though I didn't see them last year. It must be a few years since they came over here.

Nome beneaugurante, quindi, che la Norge condisce con una linea moderna e piacevole e un bella dose sostanza. Non è una Breva rivestita, perchè la Norge cambia tutto e cambia anche nella cilindrata. Il bicilindrico a V di 90 con raffreddamento ad aria cresce fino a raggiungere i 1200 cc e quindi dovrebbe anche aver migliorato le sue prestazioni. Does anyone happen to know what thickness the OE front brake pads are, new? I needed new rear pads and bought a complete new set of EBC pads. I'm interested that the original front pads, with 6,000 miles of wear, are still as thick as the brand new EBC Double H pads.
