  1. "To be honest, I'm sick of designing bikes around V-twins" – the rest of the interview is interesting too.
  2. Motorcyclists? – They look like Policemen to me
  3. This thread seems to have become mixed-up with the 'Catchy Girly Phrases for your number plate' thread. How could that have happened?
  4. As per web report & photos: it was an accurate simulation to ensure that such a thing could be done, if necessary. Since doing the fix, actual roadside repair has not been necessary, as all in the garden remains rosey.
  5. You think that will be easier? These things are/were meant to be in England now. I'm in London next week and wanted to try to see one. I've e-mailed and phoned one of the main dealers, but I can never get a clear answer about anything from them. What I have been able to pick-up is that they will probably get 4 bikes and that they are all spoken for. Although they had previously said that there should be Grisos in the showroom by this stage, I don't know that there actually are. The other dealer that I have contacted, in London, gave a more precise answer. This morning they said that they have had the press bike on loan, but it was being taken away today. Seems there may not be any real 'for sale' Grisos arriving yet, just a press bike doing the rounds. That second dealer had an open day on Saturday. Said there was a lot of interest and with orders taken, any bikes coming in are already sold. However they don't expect any real bikes to arrive anytime soon. The only way of anyone getting a Griso will be to place a definite order and then wait..... .....for some to arrive from Italy. sometime They say that supply will be extremely limited. Even if someone placed an order today it is extremely unlikely that they would get a bike before next year.
  6. MGS is heavier, but I think that it looks better. Any idea what the price difference is? (Academic question)
  7. Gosh, the 02 V.11s weren't the first model that suffered from bubbling/flaking paint. On new models: Bike says that the basic specs of the liquid cooled models are finalised and designers are already working on a new range. That may be old news.
  8. Definitely the best thing is to get your hands into the pre / selector parts, as nothing major has to be disassembled to do that. Everything is obvious once the cover is off. I found a post where I had commented on the potential for the selector to hang about between the higher gear positions, "there is a relatively big physical shift needed to move the selector mechanisms between gear positions, except for first, neutral and second which are right beside each other– so there is potential for mechanism to sit between selections" old post here So it might just need a quick disassemby, clean up (or slight tweaking) and careful reassembly. If you are lucky and that is all that it needs, these are the (easily accessible) parts. see left side on this picture
  9. Are there any new ones anywhere, for the next bikes coming after Griso?
  10. (Don't know if these have been shown here before) So this is what it's all about? A more rounded perspective Little Bruvva bashed Do you really need any more?
  11. Guzzirider spends too much money at the French Market
  12. Are you sure you know how to use that sat-nav thing?
  13. Thankfully, Sir Robert Peel isn't 'available' to post in Tech Topics an explanation of why he still uses dino oil in his V.11 "Sir, I would fain hope, that although the course which I take is an unusual one, yet that I am acting in conformity with the general wish of the House, in availing myself of the very earliest opportunity of giving that explanation which at no remote period the House will require from me. I would fain hope that I am not obstructing the course of this discussion upon the Address by giving that explanation at this period. But, if no consideration of public advantage could justify me in taking this course, I am sure the generous feelings of the House will deem it only natural that I should desire that not a moment should elapse before I explain to the House the motives by which I have been actuated, and the principles which have governed my conduct. I may feel hurt at having been the object of much accusation upon vague surmise; I may think it unjust to have been condemned without a hearing - I say nothing upon that head; if any momentary feelings of indignation were aroused, the recollection of great indulgence and of great confidence was quite sufficient to efface those temporary feelings. I shall make no allusion, therefore, to particular expressions, or particular accusations; but this I do ask, even while I do not require the reversal of the sentence; I ask for the opportunity, after condemnation, of explaining the motives of my conduct. I ask you to listen at least with patience and indulgence to those facts and that evidence which I shall this night adduce, and which will form the materials on which other tribunals, judging under less excitement, will ultimately pronounce upon the motives and the conduct of men charged with deep responsibility in critical times... My own opinion was founded upon the evidence which I shall now adduce; and it was impossible, upon that evidence to come to any other opinion... I came to that conclusion; and I was adduced to advise that unusual - not unprecedented, but I admit unusual - course, upon the following considerations. I will proceed first to an explanation..."
  14. shifts like a buffalo with two legs tied togethe probably lack of basic maintenance? Linkage not adjusted properly or kept tight. Is he wanting you to do something about the bad paint?
  15. That seems to be true, but Helicopter'The Bard'Jim is the only one that I've noticed slipping in a Shakespeare quotation as yet. Pearls before swine.
  16. Try bottling water – same idea. And yes, people are bottling plain old air now (from the top of a mountain say, or somewhere with sentimental value) and selling it. If you're going to cable tie something useful to your bike, make it a lunch box for your bacon buttie.
  17. Seems to be ok now No. It's gone again. I don't know... sometimes it's there, sometimes it's not – EDIT: maybe I was getting a bad page from the cache, as I think it actually is working As a workaround, if you haven't fallen asleep from boredom, you could try going to homepage, here, then at the bottom of page, select the exhaust sounds and when that opens, select mp3 at top right, then download. I'm curious to know if it works
  18. Compromise, forget 'Land of Hope and Glory': you need a starter button, and then this sound – When, some time ago, I posted a direct link to stream this, people said they couldn't use it as it was an mp4 file. This is an indirect link to an mp3 file that needs to be downloaded first, if anyone can be bothered. It might work. this is not a Breva
  19. take heed
  20. It's got that, er, hiss that I like. kapow! you take this!
  21. Electratherapy In Blue my favourite movie
  22. Zoot alors etc !!but I already have my dentures parceled up and ready to send ya! Hot rats!!
  23. NO, no, no: surely that's not the point here? Objectively, we can probably say that the thing rides just dandy (from all reports). Most of the reaction is about the look – and that is a big part of what will sell/not sell the Griso as well (given that both ride well etc). Subjectively, some like the look and some don't. Some like the look of both the V.11 and the Breva: Chris J can choose whether he looks at the green meanie or the blousey breva, depending upon his mood. I wouldn't mind a Breva for touring about on, if Santa gave me one, and it was all smothered in panniers and tank bag. I wouldn't mind a Griso, which I think looks better and imagine will perform better and feel better. I wouldn't get a Griso at the expense of the V.11 and even if I had the money for both, I'm not sure that the Griso is different enough from the V.11 to justify both. When would you use one instead of the other? It's not different from the V.11 in the sense that a Quota or some sort of Gelände/Strasse is. There were some reports before the summer, but does anyone know any more, anything more definite, about what else is coming down the MG pipeline? ______ EDIT maybe you didn't mean just how it rides – you probably meant geting the opportunity to assess how it looks 'in the flesh' as well. EDIT 2 about the 'look'. As soon as I saw the original add for the 'new' V.11, gorgeous green real-style motorbike, I loved it. Never dreamed I would actually have one. Breva doesn't do that. Griso does 80%ish
  24. It depends what you're going to need it for of course, and who knows about that? Apart from specific needs, it's great for general reading and info, some of which will relate directly to your bike and some of which you might just be interested in anyway as it increases your background knowledge of Guzzi machinery & techniques. Guzzi's own manual isn't great. Take out the extra languages and it's pretty thin. It's extremely expensive. Guzziology is much better value and may be more practical help for some things. If you are going to do work yourself, it can't hurt to have both. Guzziology can be got mail order (probably from some MG dealers in US?) or from Amazon.
  25. that would be your metal helmet, then
