  1. I just got in from the garden. It was time to do the first grass cut of the year, now that it's reached 3' high. They showed John Britten's fab V1000 too. Maybe I'll get around to uploading the V8 footage (MG doing 190mph in those days) – or I could just send you a tape if you want.
  2. Good news, but I think Antonio made it pretty clear that one girl won't be enough for him. Are you going to a campsite near Spean Bridge, or camping 'rough'? If I can get over that direction I might stop at Glen Nevis for a night or two.
  3. I too was puzzled when I first read that. Then I realised it was a typo. Ant meant: "I didn't have a camera with me, my hive was with me." It's well known that bees don't like having their photos taken. As soon as a camera is whipped out they go mad and start stinging all round them. So it was a choice between taking the camera and taking the bees. Obviously Ant ( ) chose to take the hive.
  4. (note to ed: lightbulb smiley needed) – why didn't I think of that!
  5. You're mistaking me for, how can I put it... a Welshman. Sshhhhhhhhhhhh!
  6. Too late JR, ain't you seen DL's new exhaust mod in that other thread? It feeds straight to his nostrils, direct injection. West Coast boys sure like their fun. Do you think he's related to Enzo? Anyway, guess my pipe won't break down as it just seems to circulate water (as per Oil Consumption threads )
  7. too much information, R100
  8. So, the other one you're making must be my Christmas present! Sorry I cottoned-on and surprise is spoilt, but I'll really look forward to this anyway. (Could you paint it blue, with red underneath? Thanks) Can't wait
  9. I decided not to do that piston mod. I'm waiting for YOU to do that one first. How much do you reckon needs taken out, on the cut & shunt, to get her up to a 2.5?

    Suck This

Great mod, D! It'll look fab when you get the cans on. You're probably tempted to go for Quat D, for practicality, but I think you should stick to your guns: megaphones would look nice. What sort of mpg do you reckon you get with this set-up?
  11. YES. Same happened. If you mean the valve was completely loose because there was no nut to hold it in place, I've posted here before to say this happened and of course the tyre goes completely flat because the valve drops into tyre when you're riding. The nut split, of its own accord, and disappeared. Valve stem also splits around circumference and gives a slow leak. They may be light, but these are rubbish parts for a motorbike, especialy a heavy V.11. Replace with stainless steel.
  12. 10 Greatest Machines type series on tv now. This week is about motorbikes. Have just started with Harley knucklehead, but I think they're going to show footage of MG V8 – they've just said they're going to show the most audacious racing bike ever.... oh too late chaps... the ad. slot has just finished and it's on now, as no.9....bye
  13. hmmm... see what you mean, pretty similar parking signs I suppose it could just be coincidence...
  14. oh, right ?
  15. I remind you
  16. - that's cars BTW I think that Dave R. in Guzziology says 10,000 miles for oil filter change (and 2,000 for the oil)
  17. Good answer: but still, you're wasting your money and precious time, as I'm sure you know.
  18. Haven't you read all the other oil threads? Haven't you read all the other oil threads? If you're tight, why are are putting a new gasket in?
  19. oh yeah, thanks. I should have thought about that.
  20. It's not a real answer to oil not having time to get hot enough, but I'm just thinking that it could be worth blanking off the oil cooler.
  21. Need to carry a car, in case the Guzzi breaks down? A dealer might have some of this old luggage stock in the store.
  22. I think that the pick-up does sit very close to the bottom of the pan, but we'll see after Nog's experiment. Bet we see a new thread next week: 'My oil lines are blocked with plasticene – is it a warranty repair?'. (BTW Nb, it has not escaped my notice that you keep copying my maintenance programme – one week I'm taking out a needle roller bearing and next, you're at it; then I drop the sump & change oil & filter and next week you're doing the same. Please note that next weekend I'm taking my pistons out to do a cut and shunt modification on them.) BigJ, sorry I omitted to post a photograph of the bottom of the sump pan. Here it is now: (I sent Fred in to check the clearances)
  23. That's what I've done, as per the other (part 2) thread. So far, nothing has collected – to my slight surprise, but I need to wait a bit longer and do a longer run. I then want to move on to the other parts of the system. I'm surprised if it's 'finely tuned' and if meddling with it will have dire consequences. But that's what I was asking about in the other thread. Thanks.
  24. I see you're lurking – you may have noticed, the boys are queueing up to buy your Centauro: get it on e-bay, quick
  25. The spirit's willing, Greg, but the flesh isn't up to it
