  1. With dentists in the UK moving from the National Health Sevice to Private practice, there now aren't enough dentists left who are willing to read the Personal Dental Files of the great unwashed British public. The Govenment has made an agreement with the Dutch royal family to send British Personal Dental Files to Holland where they will be read by the Dutchy citizens as a new and progressive form of National Service for the C21st. Citizens will be called for service in alphabetical order. That is, starting with people whose names begin with 'A'. This post isn't the post formerly called 'Government Motorcycle Strategy' and containing a pdf of same. This post has not been edited at all and especially not by belfastguzzi
  2. Well thanks for the lead, once again, Guy. I was outbid by £1. I was out all of today when the auction finished so I couldn't do anything more about it. The Scura tank being for sale sure was a coincidence.
  3. It has been outside but under a good quality, lined bike cover. I don't put the cover on when the bike is wet, but wait for it to dry. I don't think that it was wet for an 'extended time'. This is the original paint, definitely not a repaint. There is no white primer showing, just the black and the thin clear coat. When moisture gets between the layers it looks grey. It's difficult to get a really good photo, so it may look like white – it is in fact the 'lifted' aeas of the clear coat.
  4. I had them valued –> for the lot
  5. 'motorcycle chaps in distressed buffalo leather' It's a sure thing. When even the buffalos get distressed by this sort of thing, the govt. has got to act!?
  6. Not before I sell them, he won't! Wanna buy some?
  7. aye begorrah, the boys is out the road practising away
  8. In fact, there is a clear coat on the matt black tank. This is what is lifting off. Perhaps it is wearing thin and then moisture is getting under it? This is only going to get worse. There are a few raised spots in the area. I wonder are these blisters forming? I took some quick photos but haven't had time to closely examine this – I think that there may be a hole that actually goes deeper than the clear coat, into the black underneath. This is different from your problem finish, Al? There are few different pics here > Scura tank pics
  9. Espèce de loup-garou à la graisse de renoncule de milles tonnerre de Brest Karma points, quiz points: you name 'em, I've got 'em – think I'll off-load some of these on e-bay
  10. obviously bandanas have the same performance benefit as 'go-faster stripes' what if you combine the two?
  11. Excellent. Thanks to all. Hopefully I will see some daylight at the weekend and will get a few photos.

  13. thanks, I was looking for blistered, rather than bubbling – I kept finding posts from people whose boots didn't ft right. This isn't related to tank suck. It is on the rear, rather than the sides. Yours looks different, but it could all be due to the same underlying cause i.e. a deficient prep/paint process. Alex: the tank is indeed plastic and the finish is matt, there is no clear or protective coat.
  14. Like when you put batteries in a torch – hope that was illuminating
  15. I'll post a picture when I get a chance. Advice on repainting these plastic tanks would be welcome.
  16. Beyond the Pale London to Galway in January And a couple of other trips from this site: Pyrenees on a Guzzi T3 Take a Breva
  17. Yes, original MG paint. It seems to have happened just today. The paint around it looks pretty thin and it is on the rear of the tank, where most wear happens. However this is a low mileage bike. It's 2002, but only bought and put on the road at the end of 2003. No 'wear and tear'.
  18. Ok, we know that some of you chaps like your Mans Naked, but honestly, I think that this going to a far enough stage. Surely this is naked enough? (BTW the text with this picture says, 'Our motorcycle jackets and apparel have been protecting motorcycle riders in comfort and style since many of their grandparents were riding.'...so this may be yankee style...but protection??? Le Mans in distress 'Plain Unisex 2-panel front motorcycle chaps in distressed buffalo leather' nice
  19. The paint on my fuel tank is blistering. A section of the black paint layer has come off and underneath looks like a polythene bag with an air bubble in it. It looks like other sections are going the same way. I wonder if this is similar to the condition that Al reported? I tried searches but can't find his posts. Anybody else seeing this problem? I can put up with some bad paint on the engine, but a peeling tank is much worse. Matt black Scura.
  20. Yeah, that's what I said, above, but now, this next bit, what on earth does this mean – It looks contradictory Pity about the headers: apart from anything else, the shape looks good – better than the MG pipes (from photos anyway). The U.K. price I quoted above includes the pipes.
  21. When removing the battery, disconnect the negative terminal first, to minimise the risk of this happening.
  22. phew!
  23. I think it just means, delivered from the factory. They want your address to then get a delivery price from the local outlet / factory / works to your home town / country.
  24. Hey – is that some sort of S-M bondage gear? I also notice in the list under your avatar that you mention Naked Men... and you say it with a French accent, which is even more kinky. There are a few other 'odd' things in your list, but we'll not go there.
