  1. True enough. Thing is I'm pretty much on my own here, so have to get information secondhand from somewhere/anywhere. I've no means of comparing bits and pieces at first hand – at the moment anyway. Looking forward to V.11 rally in England, June. Maybe one of those MG Ti set-ups will turn up there. Thanks to Al for pointing out nature of the 'advertisement' article. You're clearly impressed with your stuff, Janusz. I don't need more speed, but I would like to free-up some good-natured sound and get the thing pulling smoother through 4-5.000 rpm. The Guzzi exhaust would seem a good bet too, if one can be got, but I'm worried about the need to have final set-up done by a dealer with the right equipment. There's none here. I need something that can be done at home and then maybe by a dealer who can make adjustments with a PCommander. {Exciting news. I've just had an e-mail from someone near-by who has got hold of a black Centauro. So: another Guzzi at last.}
  2. Yeah & Yeah! An unbelievable finish at San Marino too. This is the stuff.
  3. What A Screamer! It's time to lie down now. Phew.....................................................
  4. It's Moto GP time at last!!!!! and Rossi has the Y@*&%! on pole!!!!!! it's gonna be tasty (Come on Jeremy McWilliams I don't think so)
  5. Have you seen this moto-euro article?
  6. Have you had the bike from new? If you haven't had these parts off before, they must just be 'baked' on. On my new bike they came off easily enough, so maybe penetrating fluid and more brute force is needed. :!: BTW, I think this question/thread probably belongs in Technical Topics, as I think this forum is for explanations / demonstartions of how to do things? I could be wrong – Jaap? Mod? What is the Official difference between the two forums?
  7. You can't treat royalty like that! Off with your head! The spring boss – are there any photos or diagrams of this sitting around the site somewhere? From what Baldini describes, the boss is on a removable part – is it a big job to get at it to examine and, if needs be, remove it and file it down to size? I wonder would the edition numbers of bikes be a guide to when they were assembled and so possibly point to a particular period when out of tolerance parts crept in? Does anyone know if a batch would all be made at the same size, or is it just an individual thing? Have many others who replaced springs had them break again? Does anyone know what the difference is between the original spring as fitted and the replacement spring as supplied by Guzzi? Questions, questions...and I'm sure some have been answered here before What is your limited edition number, Baldini (and anyone else with a broken spring Scura)?
  8. That style is tried and tested, though most see it as a temporary measure. A big box of coloured felt-tip pens are great for further mods. Doesn't usually increase speed.
  9. I don't know what 'easy' or 'hard' engine braking is referring to, sounds like a play with words. Engine braking in itself is the FRICTION from the engine and driveline that transfers to the rear wheel to give a braking effect. This friction includes the piston rings, valve springs, cam and lifter friction, trans drag, driveline, rear differential, just about every moving part in the engine has some level of friction. This braking effect that is experienced when the throttle is closed at speeds is the result of engine friction, NOT compression or cylinder pressure. To put into perspective, when the throttle is closed and the bike is moving, there is now very little air/fuel to be compressed. Cylinder pressures take a nosedive. No, surely not 'parts friction'. Cylinder compression acts as a brake. Take the spark plugs out – the engine turns easier because air compression has gone, not because the parts have all gotten a lot slippier. High compression engines brake hard, low compression engines don't. Diesels give great engine braking. Then there's the 2-stroke system...
  10. Throttle Position Sensor - tells the ECU where the butterflies are in relation to their extremes(open/closed), so the ECU can then deliver the proper amount of fuel. al After looking for more information, it appears that the proper diagnostics software is required to set everything up properly. So any old garage with an exhaust analyser probably can't do it then? For me, that would mean a ferry to Britain and a trip to maybe London (as per Baldini). It would be interesting to hear more from people who have fitted the Guzzi kit as a 'plug and play' without further adjustments. How has it performed?
  11. See – I knew it! And what's all this about, Jaap? I've heard of ventilation, but I think this chap is taking it to extremes. He'll catch his death of cold, going about like that.
  12. For the MG Ti cans kit I have been given a costing of "around £1,200" from Motomecca. That is a lot more expensive than I had expected, from what people have said here. So I guess that's a no-no then. $2,200 ?!
  13. Really – You've ordered! I wondered if there would be a delivery problem. I've been meaning to e-mail Motomecca to ask about fitting requirements, availability & price. (Was too busy tonight, clocking up 1,000 miles.) Don't know where else. No point in local 'dealer' really, as they will probably order from Motomecca anyway. Where did you order? So you've had that bother around 5k rpm too. Presumably you have seen & heard other options and considered them? I haven't, of course. Another question: how was your tuning done. Was it the TPS business?
  14. I knew he really meant Fatty the other day, when he named you Taffy. Of course wool has its own built-in lard, or lanolin as the sheep prefer to call it. Vaseline is no substitute.
  15. Now we're getting somewhere. That's good news on the fluid front.
  16. Natural wool, surely, has become all the rage again. I used to wear my granda's old woolen vests for mountaineering when it was deeply unfashionable and everyone was in plastic. Although I am out of touch, I think wool has made a comeback as a 'perfect' material, though it's probably called Special Organic Insulation Fibre or something and costs 5 times what it used to. It probably doesn't scratch any more. It stays warm (heats up) when wet, is fire resistant, lightish, renewable, long lasting, biodegradable.... and you can probably get it in second hand clothes shops, still in nearly as good condition as the day it was made, 50 years ago.
  17. K&N Analyser, as found on site that Jonathan referred to in Filters thread. Maybe this would do the trick, though it's too expensive for limited use.
  18. Thanks, very useful. I had wondered about the possibility of twisting to fit stock bracket position – so it has been done. I don't know about this business of setting the TPS. I have only worked with real carbs before. As for my 'dealer', he doesn't even know about the moly additive that Guzzi say has to be added to final drive lube. I'm still trying to find something suitable, but no one can help. (I actually bought some Wynn's Gear Oil Treatment today: maybe that's the same stuff, but it doesn't say what is in it.) Could a car garage with exhaust analyser set the TPS just as easily as a 'proper' MGuzzi garage?
  19. Can someone with the MG Titanium exhaust & the ECU confirm if this is a 'fit and go' install, or is any adjustment work meant to be done by a dealer with specialised equipment? I thought the new ECU should take care of fuel/air changes needed. Someone mentioned that their dealer said that there has to be further set-up to get the right air mixture (exhaust emmission reading?)? I think it was a dealer in England but I can't find the post here. Is there any further feedback on results and happiness with this set-up, particularly from UK riders? Are you running with OE air filter or have you also changed that. I assume that additional change would then require a Power Commander to get the right mixture.
  20. Of course I'm serious excellent. They must tickle your thighs a bit, so will keep you in a good humour when you get out riding. That can only be a good thing; what with The Crisis and all.
  21. Are you serious? Where is there information about this? ok, I found some dates, but maybe it is a 'members only' thing? The dates aren't good for me anyway, but I would love an excuse to travel in that direction at some time over the summer. (& yes, this really belongs in a different forum, so back to Jaap's KiNky pods)
  22. and Jaap – are you serious? Your Guzzi would look like it has udders if you fitted gloves there.
  23. Are you serious? Where is there information about this?
  24. Times are bad, what with the Crisis and all. So It's time for a break. I'm off. You people keep a good check on the time while I'm away and make sure it's kept in good order. People like Baldini don't have a watch and they rely on this place to keep 'em right. and remember
