  1. and The Road Goes Ever On, my friend
  2. You must be disappointed that it will be so easy I bet you really wanted to prise that bevel off.
  3. a)No. Not exactly. b)How much curl, exactly? PS, what's more fun: grip or gorilla snot? Maybe it's a nationality thing?
  4. Ta. Are Ducati parts generally cheaper than MG? I wonder why - is it more numbers, more sales? Is there any cross-over with Aprillia and MG parts?
  5. As far as I remember from opening the tacho to try to clear the Lake Como fog, the bulb just pulls out for replacement, once you have taken the unit out of the plastic housing. That's where I (vainly) directed warm air in. That's probably enough access to fix the stud too. No need to pry the thing open. Surely NO-ONE would be so contrary as to make bulb replacement that difficult? So it only takes a few minutes, though I don't know if your fairing slows things down.
  6. Alternative parts: Does anyone know if the black brake lever, as fitted in 2002, is the same as fitted to some other make at a cheaper price? A dealer couldn't give me an accurate quotation but said the MG lever would be 'about £70'.
  7. well spotted Though I believe it has only been summertime since 1am, not midnight. I have to remind you that you can't mess with time – only Guzzi does that. However, I hope that you enjoyed your extra hour of summertime, at midnight
  8. !!!!
  9. It would probably drive them round the bend.
  10. I must say, since this thread appeared, I've been more aware of a sharp and abrupt nature of the clutch. Before, I just didn't think about it. I would say it hooks up pretty quickly.
  11. There's a coincidence. I was going to put in a 'First Thousand Miles' post today and I find there's already one here. I was going to say the bike's great. No leaking oil since I sealed up the timing case. Only slight downside is it's not perfect around 5,000 rpm. After some wear and tear and the passge of a bit more time, I could be tempted by those MG Ti cans & ECU. A few more thou and it will be starting to get run-in I suppose?
  12. We know Guzzi has the power to warp time but look what happened this road after they sent about 50 MGs done it at once. Warped or what? It used to be a drag strip. (Sorry about he big pic. It's much better than the little one.)
  13. What EXACTLY do you mean by 'two years'? What EXACTLY do you understand of the word 'now'? Did you take account of the time it takes the internet to cross the date line and the fact that the clocks go forward tomorrow night? Someone might not read this until next week. Time is not to be trifled with :!: BTW it's 10:00pm. Time for a shower, as I'm going out tomorrow – on my motorbike – see, this thread is connected with V11 Moto Guzzi and it's about time too!
  14. Man, you must have overdosed on that " Lucky Charms " cereal. ( Billy Bob ) formerly known as Tx Redneck ) Which Texas did you think I was refering to?
  15. OK so there are probably easier ways to check the world time zones, or maybe everyone else just knows that sort of stuff. Anyway, I see I'm here one hour behind Jaap's euro time and 8 hours ahead of west coast Cali time. And probably about 10 years out of sync. with Texas? Facinating PS nice try Dave P, put I think it was always too late to make this post interesting.
  16. Hmm. 16 members online and 4 guests. What time is it out there in Guzzi world, just at the moment? It is nearly 7:30pm here. Post quickly, or the moment will be gone. C'mon, share some information just for interest. I'm wondering what time difference there is between posters.
  17. I would never have described my Scura single plate as on/off or snatchy/snappy. That's probably as I'm not comparing it to any other Guzzi clutch so wasn't expecting it act in any particular way. It's perfectly usable in any situation. I like it. I'm glad to see confirmation of the robustness, as I couldn't remember where I had read about the single plate testing (as I mentioned in another thread). John T, can you remember where that was reported?
  18. When things drop, that you are not expecting, they can get lost. So as you haven't done this before, a very small addition is to watch out for the big 'penny' washers when you take the bolt out at the rear of the tank. They are liable to fall when you lift the tank. If you have a nice clean, tidy garage to work in, that won't matter – but just in case... As well as the electrical connections, I grease that bolt and the washers to keep long term corrosion at bay. You might as well, while you are at it.
  19. You are giving it to me? Thanks very much! You welcome, being a Guzzista is a brotherhood!!! and you can have this – enjoy it
  20. You are giving it to me? Thanks very much!
  21. Two V11s together like that must sound pretty good. As a matter of interest, does the balance pipe on the headers make any difference to the sound coming out the other end (compared to 02 without it)?
  22. My opinion – I'm not sure that 3-D metal badges would look great stuck on to a plastic tank. I'd be inclined to keep it all flat / smooth, which means a decal or paint job. I agree that the 2002 graphic isn't anything special.
  23. Maybe it's another of these dealers that doesn't appreciate the differences between different models and years. The only one dealer that is near to me told me that there are no differences between 2001 and 2002 models. That's why I went to England to buy the bike, get parts by mail order and do the work myself. (Hey - the big giant long 'no pics' smilie thing has gone! That's you guys complaining about it )
  24. Putting that in your tyres must cause problems with unsprung weight? Does it come in bars, or do you buy it by the pound? Has anyone used this yet? –>
  25. My one man's one vote is with good old Castrol GTX until a reasonable amount of running in has been done.
