  1. Time is terribly uncooperative and has not been kind to my Scura. As for the Griso, it's time to get new tyres. But what? I haven't read a TYRE/TIRE THREAD in about five years. I'm sure they're still black and circular, but other than that, what's the fashion these days?
  2. Coincidentally, I thought so too, Jim. I have been thinking about the V.11ers (and was going to post a little note) as I opened a bottle of Bushmills that has been sitting around for a few years – bought when I had the Guzzi Ulster Rally here and we visited the Bushmills distillery. Time for a toast: your good health, sir. Slainte!
  3. please don't use photobucket, pics not there! Hello I have replied to the Private Message, where you are rather cross that I have not got photographs in my old posts on this subject, to explain that there are indeed plenty of photos, which can be easily accessed via FAQ. Following that, I now see the above exclamation – which makes me wonder if you need to check your internet service/connection as you appear to not be seeing photos? The photo bucket hosted photos above are 'there' – they are visible to me.
  4. There is plenty of info on the Forum, including photos, e.g. here, boss filed down with hand file. > http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16872
  5. There is a lot of on the Forum from earlier years. Unfortunately the illustrating photos were lost when the web hosting closed down. I did a summary in early 2012 with some of the photos. That thread is here >> http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16872&st=0 The original threads can be found in the links within the FAQ topic http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=16872 And yes, as mentioned in previous years, I even now still get emails from people looking for info on this nuisance subject! I think these springs are destined to break for ever and ever. As far as I remember, no surprise frogs leap out during disassembly. There aren't hidden little springs. But you do have to put things back in the right positions. That should all be described in the threads. Gearbox dogs need to be in the right position too, when all is closed up again. There were a number of variations in the box internals over the years. The older photos and description might still be of general use to you.
  6. LM Mk5 He made the tank and seat from fibreglass. There are nice little details that can't be seen in the photos.
  7. Great, it's Baldi. No, LM still sitting, as is Scura. Things continue to break and be bad on the Griso, though it's great when going. Aprilia continues to be perfect! Monkey man, yes, the builder agrees with that: the seat is torture. It's a first go at it. He made the seat base/hump/tank etc. Engineering details are nice. I wish I knew how to work a lathe and other such tools and had access to them. (More basically, I wish I had a big garage and could have room to work at the bikes over time.) Keith, were you able to see the photos in the Facebook albums?
  8. Yes, the Scura is not a distinct construction from a V11. It IS a V11, with simply a badge and an add-on name, like all the other V11 stylistic variations and 'limited' editions. As the posts say, it is the year that is more important as far as the frame, mechanicals, electrics, wheels etc are concerned.
  9. It's not my bike though. I can post in one of the other (special) places (for banter). It's this (Facebook links) > Fbk album 1 > https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10152210028456493.1073742183.628571492&type=1&l=1403167b14 Fbk album 2 > https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10152210301441493.1073742184.628571492&type=1&l=27ec55e986
  10. you're trying to get me started…
  11. Would another method be to check against a GPS speed reading? Are the consumer units or phone apps accurate enough for this? ________ - looking at comment on the web, GPS is dependent on circumstances and not 100% reliable for complete accuracy. But I imagine it might be as good as other methods unless you can access specialist equipment and even your unit isn't going to give consistent 100% accuracy, as you change tyres, wear the tyre, lean off the tyre centre etc. So trials with a gps might do it?
  12. Great to see these pics.
  13. That was short'n'sweet, so back again. Yes, it's really the colour and the carbon bits combined with the frame geometry at that time, the bar position, little fairing and Ohlins. No major items of uniqueness. Changes come aftermarket.
  14. I have forgotten just about everything, but from what I possibly remember, the fuel pump change was just a year thing and the change was across the V11 range when it happened. There were various changes to the V11s over the years including to the frame, exhaust system, engine paint, wheel rims and handlebars and I think the Scura would have been in step with the annual model changes (improvements or otherwise). The particular things that make the 2002 Scura (as distinct from the later one) what it is, to my mind are... I have a 10.30 meeting, must go, will return later, by which time I expect someone else will have completed the sentence,
  15. Oh... I've just read this post: "I and a colleague have been developing maps for the G8 and I was wondering if he'd like to try one out. It might make him fall in love again!" Intriguing!
  16. Hi Pete, are you around & about? Thanks to Jim also.... better late than never.
  17. I should post some photos of the little café custom based on Mk5 LeMans, that was out for a run a few weeks ago. I think you saw the Facebook pics, Jim? Is Baldini still around? He would like the engineering detail.
  18. Good grief, I've forgotten how to post a video on here! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jEC_8BjLQoE
  19. Oh, new look board! I saw this come up on Facebook via Jaap. As things stand at the moment, that weekend is about the only one that I could do. Even then, it's probably when I will need to take my family holidays. It would be great to have a get-together so plough ahead. D
  20. This is great. I wish I could understand the narration. Film of 1970 Elephant Rally
  21. I've just realised, rather late as it's November: this is 2012! ! 10th anniversary of the birth of Scura, out of Moto Guzzi ! Party in the Scura Hut Bring Your Own Spanners
  22. Was playing with these boys yesterday, among others. Can't beat fire & flames – and electricity in all the wrong places.
