Might as well complete the wardrobe. You've got the rest of that gear, though your shoes are a slightly bigger size. -
Have you no principles?!?

He'll be flinging farm animals around soon. At least, I believe that's what they do. I wouldn't know, personally. -
Yes, you. You know who you are.

Hey - it's two different green V7s! Am I the first to spot that? Well, no one else said, so I get the prize, right? -
Great achievement - sounds like party time alright!

I'd have to agree. It's only risking more damage and heartache. My experience is that a bad mechanic 'fixing' things just wrecks more things in the process. I am NEVER taking my bike back to that dealer and I've given up on getting parts that he owes me (as have other people). Unless you have good reason to do otherwise, take the bike away to someone who cares about what they do.

Old McWilliams, XR1200, Barber
belfastguzzi replied to belfastguzzi's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
What exactly are you trying to say? You act like a horned hubby somehow Hubert Ask Baldini. I think you have missed out on some excessive 'discussions' in the bearded Guzzi world recently. Now, where are my slippers? -

So..... what were you referring to Luhbo? The bike behind, with the V configuration installed the wrong way..??? -
So it's taken from an early motorcycle, like a tankbadge for instance? This is a badge for wearing. There were new ones produced regularly (every year?). Jacket / tie badges. It's the Twitter / Facebook of its day. I'm just wondering if it was used in other contexts... publicity posters, a particular model name, maybe even as a tank badge? Yes, GR – I think it's definitely derived from ye olde ancien lettering stylee U/V.

Old McWilliams, XR1200, Barber

Mmmm I like those pics too. Unfortunately you failed your Guzzi Beard Test. The complete sentence should be: "Reminds me of the old [...blah blah whatever] when Guzzis were Guzzis, men were men and bikes were nekkid!' -
I don't know anything about this stuff. I quite like the picture though. "Former MotoGP rider and recently crowned Henderson Harley-Davidson XR1200 Trophy Champion, Jeremy McWilliams, has emerged victorious from the final round of the 2010 AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 series at Barber Motorsports Park in Leeds, Alabama on 26 September. The Warr’s Racing rider competed in the series as a guest rider after sealing the title in the inaugural UK series at Cadwell Park in August aboard a Harley-Davidson XR1200 motorcycle, prepped to a similar level as those raced in the AMA Pro Vance & Hines XR1200 series. Best British rider McWilliams proved that he is still world class with a convincing race win on his first outing in the US championship. The Irishman lined up for the 11-lap race alongside the season-long contenders on the grid in difficult conditions, determined to bring a Transatlantic race win home to London-based Warr’s Harley-Davidson. McWilliams, supported by Warr’s, Roadracingworld.com and HOG Racing, led the race from start to finish with veteran Michael Barnes closely shadowing him aboard the Jones Brothers XR1200. Despite a close race-long contest between the two, it was McWilliams who pulled away to claim the race win and the accolade of being the only rider to claim XR1200 race wins on two continents. McWilliams said “Winning the final race in the American series was the icing on the cake in what has been a fantastic and fun year racing the Warr’s XR1200. I was in some pain over the weekend due to the cracked ribs I sustained during a testing session in Spain, but I was determined to end the season on a high. To beat the other Harley riders in their own back yard is a testament to Warr’s experience and expertise in prepping bikes and providing a reliable package.”"

excellent competition indeed! Not so much 'The Times They Are A Changing' as, How To Become An Instant Veteran and Buy The Old Times In One Go. I like it. Nice jacket and goggles – shame about the bike! -
I guess you are joking.. but just to clarify this is an early factory badge, from a big collection of factory and MG publicity badges

Wot, no links! Some salesman you are!! Make it hard work for the customer: have you thought of working for Moto Guzzi Customer Service?
-
Nice thinking! I assumed it was the first bit: I like your further possible presumption. Yes, that was an interesting educational insertion. Of its time, I think. You wouldn't get such practical helpfulness now! Rather, a bemusing description of essence of exhaust from the latest glamour Guzzi as being like the rose-scented breath of some mythical fish-god that rises from the deeps of Lake Como when the full-moon glints among the waves' shifting shadows. Then, a boast of world-shaking 45 BHP from the space-age marvel that is the latest Guzzi sports race air-cooled leviathan.

I put the old MOTO GVZZI factory badge in the Bits & Bobs photo thread because of the interesting style of type used. Does anyone know of other examples of this lettering, where the U is like a V, being used so prominently? I presume that it dates from a very particular time period?

What time is it?
belfastguzzi replied to belfastguzzi's topic in Special place for banter and conversation
Is the full stop final? I suppose we would have to consult Aristophanes of Byzantium to know if the full stop is truly final! I've no time for consultation. I'll just make a ruling that the full stop was a tragically pessimistic mistake.
