  1. WHAT! It wasn't the same bike, if it was silver, not yellow. Anyway, I demand a recount of Guzzirider's points. Something's not right there.
  2. what's a little . between friends, or between tappety bits? Frank – Can you post a link to the original info?
  3. ...and Slug should devote his spare time to making better use of that dead area in the fuel tank. What about a little wine cask in there, with an outlet tap from the bottom right corner of the tank? Gets rid of hip-flasks in chest pockets, lowers/centralises the weight. 97 octane house red. Win-win. On the other hand, a secondary fuel tank in that corner would also be useful. Feed it back out into, say, a hip-flask: empty hip-flask into main fuel tank. Extra fifty miles range. Bob's your uncle. This solution by-passes the horrendous double-vortex push-pull recirculation problems that plagued previous attempts at solving this problem. Is it dinner-time yet?
  4. Isn't that for mustard?
  5. It's all 'pros' The extra storage space could be handy, like, say you sometime wanted to go out and buy another battery. The extra deadweight when carrying it home would be kept nice and low, under the seat, instead of up in a backpack. Slug, you're a genius! An improvement would be to relocate the battery to inside the fuel tank. As well as getting the weight forward, you also gain space to carry two extra batteries, or a small chainsaw if it's split into two parts. (Put the battery in the bottom right side of the tank, where the petrol is 'wasted' in dead-storage anyway.)
  6. Yeah... I can't go through Coney Island, County Down, without thinking of fun-fairs and hot-dogs! And now of course, Van Morrison too.
  7. And m-m-m-maybe there's grease in the shock-mount... swingarm... head-bearings etc?
  8. Rubbish! Don't you know nuffink, Bendy? Prove your points you scoundrel! Anyhow, the protocol is: you offer me the point – then I refuse it. You can't rob me of my principled stand on behalf of the common man!
  9. I'm sure I had pics of a Fox in an earlier quiz. So more definite details are required. I might even ask for pictures. Depends what the 'waders' are made of. Now, if they were to be leather... (not that I'm insisting that they are) Anyway, I'm off to London and then Brussels. Need to make sure that Jihem is maintaining a healthy diet of raw horse mince. That there list sure is making me hungry
  10. or not, as the case may be...
  11. €£$1 Prize Fund to the first person who can prove Ratchet wrong. C'mon, nothing's impossible.
  12. Who can come up with the best list of motorbike names, which connect with the list here? Preferably a model as well as the manufacturer, for each beast. A bonus BFG point for best identification of the bike make / model that the two chaps ride. The leg-wear is a bit of a giveaway, but judge for yourself.
  13. Actually, it should be a quiz for all the animals. Obviously there's Guzzi and Ducati there, Honda too... Right I'm off to the QF.
  14. That's the sort of sidestand that I need.
  15. A bit off-topic and could well go in the Quiz Forum. Spot the MG connection:
  16. If you mean the clutch, I'd say definitely no – problem is in the gearbox. My gearbox oil was fresh. I filled it more, when I eventually found a garage with the right stuff, but the level didn't make any difference. Problem later reoccurred, on the way home from that trip, where it happened last.
  17. The eccentric wouldn't suddenly go out of adjustment and make the box lose shifting capacity, would it? Have people found it working loose? Surely there would be a noticeable degradation in gear-change, before complete lockout? Suddenly locked out of shift: must be the spring? Well, probably the spring, but a second thought: there's the other mystery problem that has been reported over the past few years but has never, to my recollection, had a satisfactory answer. Sometimes the box refuses to shift up and I've found it to be from second gear. Wasn't there another recent thread about this again? I don't know how that ended. Anyway, for me, all I could connect it to was that the engine / box was hotter than normal. It simply wouldn't change up from second. I even ended up opening the box at the side of the road to change the spring – but there was no sign of anything wrong. Linkage all working fine too. Others have also related this to heat. It's a mystery alright.

  19. Yes, though my mistake was to get off with engine running. It was the engine vibration that walked the bike forwards over the stand. True, it would have happened quicker if I'd also put it in gear. Just get it over and done with - is that what you're advocating.
  20. The RULES are clear. It doesn't have to be a motorcycle. It can be 'something'. "1) Post a Picture of something preferrably a Motor Bike of some origin"
  21. Saw a pristine 750 triple out yesterday. A 'badder' bad boy than the Z1?
  22. They probably don't vibrate and shake as much as the Guzzis. I don't know anything about Harleys: someone said last night that their sidestands lock in position when they are down/out, so the big V twin can't over-power the stand mechanism. Maybe that was in older days?
  23. Yeah. I replaced a set already. Only 2,500 miles ago. There's more than the seals needs done. And then it's been the old and dreaded space / time / weather problem.
  24. Absolutely - that's the question. Even on this newishly designed model, the sidestand is short, almost vertical (and in an awkward position). It takes very little forward movement of the parked bike to collapse the stand – and down goes the heap. Don't Guzzi know that two wheels just aren't stable? I see DL's bike broke a pivot bolt (different one) at the same time. It MUST BE an epidemic. Bikes are collapsing as we speak, er... type.
  25. Oh yeh. It's as good in a different way. Except that it's not going, which is a drawback. Well, it's going, but it's not fit for the road. New fork seals or a new bike? It was easier to buy a new bike.
