Huckleberry Hound

No he didn't! -
When I was about 4 or 5 I listened over and over to the soundtrack of Huckleberry Hound cartoons on a long-player record. What more entertainment could be needed? I've just listened to the very thing on iTunes – and watched the moving pics too. Is this not marvellous? Huck and Dinky Dalton just like it always was!

Griso 8v Oil pump issue? http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?...st&p=139026

Grief. I'll add that to the 'sorted, question mark' thread then. Good luck with the Stelvio testing.

Can you comment on a particular thing Greg? It might be of little consequence to most people, but some of us have talked about it here before. The point where the front top sub-frame bolts to the engine is, to my mind, poorly considered in the V.11, given it's structural importance. The timing case is very thin there, where it bolts to the main case, and so can crack there, at and around the bolt hole, where it thins below the bracket. Is the case below and around the bracket beefed up on the later engine design, to make it stronger? Is the hanging placement / arrangement at the front still essentially the same as it was with the V.11? I particularly wonder if they've addressed this with the Stelvio, which is made to be loaded up with gear and is intended to have some capability for a bit of rough-roading. The potential for damage from a heavy drop should surely have been taken into consideration, especially as a cracked timing chest is really not repairable on the road / on tour. I suppose you guys won't see the Stelvio for some time yet, but what about the other recent models? I forgot to look when I saw a Griso in the flesh a few weeks ago. Thanks, DB

Breva, Griso, Sport, Norge - - - Now that they've been out and about for a couple of years, some a bit less, some a bit more, what's the longer term experience of the newer generation of Guzzis? All machinery has niggles, but do they have substantially less troubles than the V.11 has had? Better fit of parts, better durability, strength and accuracy of construction, oil tightness? Better quality control? Is there more integrity to the overall machinery, a cohesive sum of parts? What about durability and resistance to corrosion? General long term satisfaction? If folk reply, you could specify which model you have.

Oh Spring must be here. The Corkman is out of hibernation and probably looking for.... a 50" plasma ...or something -
I think you'd change your trousers too.
-
Yeah, yeah: they said that about the V.11 too.

On sunny days, I like to accessorize. (Guzzi connection? The dirty looking bird – it's an eagle, yes really.)
-
Show your wardrobe? OK My favourite, for the damp days: you know those days when your tacho fogs up and people try to tell you that everything is miserable?
-
Ah, ok. Got you.
-
At last a sort-of answer! Or at least a move towards a plausible theory. I didn't know about the acrylic ring (or plate?). As in old thread, I drilled holes in tacho in positions to replicate the speedo case, so I still don't think that the whole answer is in the speedo's 'ventilation holes' though I need to look at the things to properly understand what you're saying. Thanks

Well, like I said in the tacho thread, the climate is damp here. PS there are plenty of pics around here from Guzzirider's wardrobe over past few years, though Jaap may have removed them for his private gallery. Suede leather, fringes, lacy blouses. Say no more. The pics speak loudly enough.
-
You'll find information about various attempts to fix this. I have tried, but have found no solution that made any difference at all. Jaap says that drilling a hole worked for him. The climate is probably damper here, but I don't know if that really explains why it didn't work for me.

Have you used Eu-Expedition for bikes and car transport?
belfastguzzi replied to a topic in Travel & dealers
I'm tempted to say that you should contact them about transporting your big shaft for you – the one that you can't get in a Tupperware box. But I'll not. (You'll probably want to keep your problems to yourself in future.) -

Well, sorry to tell you that mine's even bigger! It's a V.11. Ever seen one of these monsters? Trouble is it's so big that it keeps bustin' its guts – so I have to haul it about. I'm getting a bit tired of that, so I'm looking for a transport company to do it for me. I heard that either Europe or America might be a good place to find such a company. S'pose if I had access to that internet I could find out about these sort of things. Oh well... some day. -

I heard they run real gut, I mean good. I would get at least one myself, if only I could get one or two transported across Europe to where I am. That's the bit that has me stumped. If only there was a way to transport them.... ? -
Looks good on the map. I'd go for that. What says MacG?

What's it like heading north-east through the Southern Uplands? Cross-country rather than main road routes.
-
I'd want to get around the hills. I'd like to have time there, rather than them just being a through route. Yes to Glentrool and Clatteringshaws Loch. Arran is fabulous, but I don't fancy the ferry waiting and traveling time that would be taken out of the day. Could be persuaded, though the ferry is also an extra cost. I and others will already have ferry journeys at either end of the weekend. I hate and loathe the Stranraer - Ayr road. It's always raining. It's always grey. It's windswept. It's always cluttered with traffic. It's often misty / foggy. And aren't there speed cameras all the way? It's a road I always feel pressurised on. Probably due to too many dashes for the ferry in atrocious weather.

As it happens, I saw the 8v yesterday too. A dealer not too far away has taken on MG and now has a full range of models in stock! Wonders will never cease! He said it would be a few weeks yet, before a Stelvio arrives. He's going to Donington where MG are putting on some sort of riding day for dealers to try it. In a week or so? I should have asked more about it. Maybe you could put on your 'Official Guzzi Meister' disguise and wing one out the gate. There's an 1100 Griso in the showroom with a Termi pipe (sounds good) for £7,399 or so. Shop-guy says it's the most enjoyable/addictive bike that he's ridden in recent years and he's ridden most, also does some racing. When he took it home and was about to park up, he had to just carry on down the road for a few hours instead, which he says doesn't happen with other bikes. I think that Helen should have one. There's also an MGS 01. An Italian has just bought it, to the dealer's disappointment – as he fancied saving up to buy it himself – and unfortunately the bike will leave the country after a while when the purchaser goes back to his home-country. He's putting it on the road. Looks like I'll definitely have to organise that MG 2009 Ulster riding weekend. To prep you for the Stelvio, have you seen the V7 in Bolivia stuff on YouTube? etc I sense Spring in the air. You'll get a personal delivery, if you'll take it in red
