Hey V11 fans I know it's a fairly common problem...my alternator cover is starting to look tatty as the silver/grey paint is peeling off. What have you done? Does it polish up nicely on the bare metal or have you repainted? Look forward to hearing your experiences and seeing pics of the work. Ride safe Pete

LOL @ Enzo... being English and a writer by profession, I can only take the view that the comedy 'English' in the manual was AFTER an American had edited it

Smply tightened up the nuts... my previous bike's wing mirrors wouldn't do that Sorry!

forgot to say...get red HT leads too!

Hey Scuroo...it took me a while to realise the your 'my link' was in fact a hyper link as it was same colour/font/not underlined...DOH! Yes that's what I was talking about. Even if Ram Air is a bit difficult to quantify there's no doubt that clean, cool airflow will help your engine breath far better than rear facing intakes under the saddle. But like I said, Enzo, it looks cool so what the hell! In sipte of all this dubious theory if it works on the raod when you test then that's what matters. Looking forward to your report back. Everything apart from the mudguard looks great, I even like the can, but you should twist it 90 degrees and put it under the saddle instead of the air intakes, then nobody would see it! Pete

Scuroo definately has a point...your intakes will be in 'dead air' Take inspiration from the Kwak ZZR1100 ram air intakes. Gotts admit it looks cool though Pete

Hey All My V11's rh mirror (useful in the UK!)has started to fold in in at about 60mph (100Kph)...has anyone had this and come up with some sort of solution other than buying a new mirror. I can't block it permanently because I need to fold it back to get up the side of my house. This is probably why it has come loose! Also does anybody know of an after market mirror in a shorter stem that I could use but not have to fold back every time I squezze up the back passage Thanks Pete

I am totally 'kin speachless, Enzo. Big respect from the rainy island! I am not worthy. Pete -
Interesting comment about the ECU. Mark at Twiggers Moto Guzzi, also said they run better with stock ECU than the race one.

Dave one half of the brothers Wykes who own Twiggers Moto Guzzi in Loughborough UK, has a Tenni. Not sure what number it is...he won't even let me look at it! Not sure it ever been ridden! If you need to fill in the numbers gap I can ask him which one he has. Pete

Cheers, sounds great, and yes ECU included. Do the higher cans interfere with the pillion pegs or can they be mounted as standard? Pete
-
Hey All, I've been offered a used but immaculate pair of MG Ti cans for my V11. Does anybody run these? They look sweet, but do you get and discernable power improvements and what do they sound like most imnportantly Pete

Right, I undid the cable at the gear box end and pushed the drive pin back it, it made a gentle click and I re-attached the cable. Hey presto it works. Until the next time it pops out! Does anyone know if there's an upgraded replacement part as I don't want to pay good money for OEM with a built in fault. Cheers Pete

Hey All, As a very new V11 Sport owner, I was hit by a bit of character on SUnday when out with the missus. The speedo simply stopped working. I tested all the parts using a cordless drill on anti-clockwise rotation to get enough speed to get the needle moving. It looks like the cable is 100% fine and the clock itself. The Black plastic gearing that mounts on the gearbox seems to be the troble. I took it apart only minimally (removing the two pins) and gave it a good old clean and lube and rebuilt it. The pin which connects to the cable seemed to click in and I tested the gearing by attaching the gearbox drive pin to the drill. Hey presto it worked! So as always a great excuse for a test ride...1.4 miles later no speedo Is this a common V11 fault. I suppose I need to buy a new gearbox to cable black palstic thingy right? Still the using a cordless drill to diagnose the problem made life super easy. Cheers Pete

Hello, Has anybody got any V11 ventura brackets for sale? I've got some Ventura bits but would consider anything you may have. Thanks Pete

Hey Mark I've got a totally unmarked standard stater motor cover that I took off to replace with a carbon if you're interested. Otherwise I think Twiggers in Lougborough has a couple in stock, that's where I got mine from give Elaine or Mark a ring on 01509 263967 and tell 'em I sent you from this forum. Hi Jerico, and welcome...I too fairly recently got my first V11 sport and loving it. Totally enjoying the standard cans to be honest but really tempted to feel the noise...where did you get your Miw's? Pete
-
Thanks for the word of caution...this one's got a watertight and full history from Twiggers Moto Guzzi and excellent ownership pedigree as the first owner was the late John Maris, a fact which makes ownership of this particular bike even more special.

Mmm...getting time off, that old chestnut

OK both is good love the verde legnano Port, burgundy, claret...all have good associations as a colour

Track could be fun and would sound amazing. Lydden is a much nicer/ friendlier track and probably far cheaper too. I could lay on a band no problem coz I'm in one and know loads more. Pete

I know this thread has gone a little quiet, but possibly for next year as organising might be difficult now, but my home county of Kent is very well located for folks from all round Europe (Dover, Ramsgate ferries and Eurotunnel of course) and has some beautiful coast and countryside, amazing beer and food and a relatively good (in UK terms) climate. Fantastic country roads for ride outs.... Just a thought Pete

Thanks Guys... The Thruxton doesn't have the power or build quality either...I really wanted to be patriotic, I even lived near Hinckley for 8 years and still couldn't bring myself to buy a new Triumph. Ho hum. Thank God for the Guzzi!

Hey All, Having had endless plastic covered bikes, although the last few have been italian V twins...I decided to get a little more back to basics. I saw the press for the V7 cafe calssic and thought it looked great so took one for a ride. Having just stepped off an RSV mille I was pretty shocked by the lack of power but enjoyed the bike none the less. On returning the bike I said to Mark at Twiggers Moto Guzzi in Loughborough UK (brilliant dealership and oustanding spanner work) that it's a shame it doesn't have 30-40 more bhp. Instead of trying to sell me the V7 or force a brand new griso/ 1200 sport on me he said 'you need to get yourself a V11, but don't ask me for one as they hardly ever come in part-exchange' An interesting and refreshingly honest approach to sales! After a great deal of searching and almost giving up and buying a 1200 sport I at last found a 2003 V11 sport in the dark red/ claret colour (does anybody know what the colour is called?) in showroom condition with 4,630 miles and full, coincidentally Twiggers service history - Mark even remembered selling the bike originally. Of course I bought it, took it to Mark for some Pirellis, plugs, pads, fluids and full service simply because it had been so rarely ridden. She's now mine and I have been blown away by how small, light and nimble it rides (yes that's whjat I said and I'm not a big guy). I'd been lead to beleive this was some prehistoric pile of iron. This is complete nonsense of course. I've been a state of the art sportsbike rider for over 20 years and I think the V11, whislt not an RSV4 is plenty good enough for fast road riding...better in fact as most tools these days are for the track and are too focussed for the road. The sound is infectious and the looks sublime...in my part of the world we call this a 'proper bike'...I'm glad I've grown up to appreciate this wonderful piece of engineering art. You're all very lucky and enlightened people fellow V11 riders. I feel a collection coming on...Coppa Italia, Tenni, Scura R, Le Mans and definately a red framed verde legnano...these things beg to be collected I'm happy to have joined in the fun. Best wishes Pete PS I nearly bought a Triumph Thruxton until I found the V11...I'm sooooooooooo sorry please forgive my laspe of judgement!
