  1. G'day mate. Did the club (s) mention any other reputable mechanics in your area who might be able to do it? $175 an hour sounds pretty expensive even down here and as LP mentioned... the workshop doesn't exactly, er inspire confidence. Good luck though. Cheers Guzzler
  2. G'day. I also had a mate with one and got to ride it back in the 80's. His one is still going strong too I believe. Mate there is a thriving owners club here in Oz but also very active clubs for them overseas so maybe contact them for advice. From what I know they are or can be EXPENSIVE to restore and like anything have their foibles so maybe specialised advice may save you $ ?? Try CBX world and ICOA both seem USA centric? Cheers
  3. Don't think I've seen that colour before..? Looks good. Cheers
  4. Ha ha. Don't hold back now mate! Hilarious.
  5. I just had a wee look but not enough time to watch all of it... Think you might be right about the public school twat ha ha . Anyways I don't think they ( Norton ) got it right with the standard Commando,To me the pipes are wrong and the tail lights embedded in the rear cowling look ah crap. Having said this, I think they got it absolutely spot on with the Dominator version, but this was under the previous management. (or lack thereof). That version is one of the best looking bikes I've seen. Cheers Ps I also prefer v twins though.
  6. The Greenie's booked in for a new set of shoes on Friday! Went with another pair of Angel GT 2's as this set has seen it all (apart from snow and Ice) in the 18K and never once did they misbehave. This also includes 10k of usage before the suspension was sorted and serviced so I'm bloody impressed. Cheers Ps can't wait!
  7. Ha ha I'm just about to replace mine this week hopefully. The current Pirelli Angel GT 2's have 18,500 kays on them and still handle ok..... My last ride to the office was cold and very very wet and still no slips slides etc and my ride home on the fun twisty bits were also wet and still no moments but I reckon they'll go downhill quickly from here! Bloody phenomenal really and will look to put another pair of these on! Cheers Ps I also run a 160/60 on the rear
  8. G'day Mick. Yeah it's usually in Carlton but has moved around a bit the last few years! I think it was in Preston not long ago but looks like I missed a chance this year eh. Cheers
  9. That's held in Melbourne here in in Oz... Never been in all these years so must make an effort one of these days! Cheers
  10. Why a Guzzi ? Why a V11? Because life is meant to be ENJOYED not ENDURED... Cheers

    V11 Special

I can see elements of the duc in it but more so of the Norton. Not sure what to make of it though....
  12. Yep. Not sure when it became legal but I've done it for many years! Most drivers are good and there are some very good ones who'll move over to give you more room, but you do get the odd ----head that'll try and block you! The commute would be a nightmare without it especially when it's hot! Cheers
  13. Ha ha We call them neck socks down here. Cheers
  14. Doh...just realised you checked the light! Sorry back to the normal programme. Cheers
  15. The brake light can be finicky without it being relay related too! I had a loose connection in the light assembly early on which made the light intermittent... Just saying. Cheers
  16. Ha ha, wonder what a greenie with 102.000 kays on her might be worth these days....? Probably bugger all, but priceless to me all the same! Cheers
  17. Mate # 1 ( Start ) is closest to the tank # 5 ( Fuel ) furthest from it. Cheers Ps these two NEED to be 5 pin relays but most of us put 5 pin ones in all spots!
  18. I agree probably relays... Mine has had this before I checked /cleaned them esp #1 and # 5 and blew out any dust etc from the relay base which sorted it. By the way toggling the kill switch can help but really a stop gap measure. Cheers
  19. Yeah, I reckon you're right mate. I also think it's a combination of things that finally sorts it out! Cheers Ps getting rid of the crap standard tensioner was definitely a factor and the correct gap on the phase (?) sensor plus ......ha ha
  20. Exactly where mine went too! Cheers
  21. Thanks fellas. Yeah, I thought the 160/60 looked ok on the rim too! Ha ha I'm not about to go dragging my arse down the road to find out how far to lean to get rid of the strips and will just keep on doing and enjoying what I'm doing! Cheers Ps as for scrubbing the edges in case you go in a little hot sometime.... Not sure but after x amount of heat cycles I doubt the edges would be any concern if not scrubbed.... ???
  22. G'day folks. I was flicking through Total Control by Lee Parks recently and came across a section on Traction. There was mention of a bloke on an SV650 who was achieving pretty good lean angles on his standard tyre which on the SV was a 160/60 jobbie on a 4.5 inch rim like our red frames .It then went on to mention that a 160/60 wasn't really designed for a 4.5 inch rim but for a 5 inch rim.In fact by fitting this tyre to a 4.5 inch rim it's pinching it to the point that you can't use the very edges of the tyre unless you crash! I've been running the 160/60 profile on mine for years now and have often wondered why I can't seem to get to the very edges of the tyre! I don't really think about it when I'm riding ( nor care a great deal ) but I also reckon I achieve decent lean angles and have about 15mm of unused tyre at the very edges so in order to sate my curiosity... How's your chicken strips? Cheers Guzzler Ps I'm pretty happy with the 160/60 profile and have no complaints really...just curious.
  23. Wonder when they'll carry a wee SUV on the trailer....or at least a couple of electric mobility scooters so they can run into town!
  24. I've had the chinese Rizoma rip-offs on mine for a few years now! Apart from the adjustability factor as Phil has mentioned they're ok and work for me. I cant remember the price but it was significantly cheaper than the real deal. Cheers
  25. Do let us know mate... Mine was sorted years ago as the bike was serviced by Brad Black and hasn't missed a beat since. Probably will now that I've mentioned it eh! Cheers
