  3. Apologies, reading that post again the numbers for Monster and V11 are similar but PC706-211 is not the Monster part I had. A bit of number blindness there: not sure what that number is for. Your local DynoJet dyno centre should be able to advise and confirm its suitability as they work with them all the time but I couldn't get any guidance from DynoJet UK themselves: my centre said that a lot of PCIIIs are the same but with different cables and fittings and that many are interchangeable. Check with them. Edit: these guys, amongst others, are offering that part number for the early V11 Sport http://www.newportcycleparts.com/categories/engine_fuel/dynojet_pwr_com.htm so I think it's a pretty good bet...

I don't have the box with me to check, but my PC III was for a Monster 900 ie and had a very similar part number to that for the V11: I think that's what you have there but not sure which is which. The Monster PCIII is the one many suppliers put forward for the V11 as the 'proper' one for the V11 is in short supply and the Monster one fits, it just won't come with any V11 maps. In practice, the only difference is the length of the cable: the Monster is apparently several metres long! Coil the copious cable supplied up and tuck it away and get a DynoJet centre to tune it.   5. If removal of the bracket doesn't work out, last time I looked there was one on the 'bay @ £45 (GBP). I've got one spare with a rattle (a piece of mesh loose inside - works better that way, honest Guv) but it would cost a load to ship to you from Blighty, more than the value of the item itself.
  6. That's the crossover support bracket on mine! Goes between rubber bushes: funny arrangement but I personally wouldn't remove that so lightly... Too late anyway, I guess...

    I found that its skimpy nature means it'll probably take just as long to fit as the full overcoat, so you'll need to factor that into your 'short trip' schedule. Not exactly clip on and clip off, but cosmetically a huge improvement.

    OK, got the pics for the Bagster Easy Road. On opening it very much looks like it's designed for tanks with welded seams as it has hooks at the back, and of the three pairs of straps provided, two pairs are also very much of that type. I used the third pair which can be looped around the pet-cock and fuel return valve. The hooks at the back actually do fit on the rear tank bold mounting plate and seem reasonably secure although I'd prefer to fabricate something a bit better suited. There is a strap at the front that goes down below the headstock and back up again. As you'll see from the pics, there is a long oval hole that fits pretty well around the early V11 tank 'chin pad'. Tensioning the straps was a bit of a trick but it seems pretty solid: depicted here with a Bagster Tech City tank bag. Doubt I'll be road testing until the spring: so far it's looking good, though, especially at £38!

    Just taken delivery of this and went out to fit it straight away. I believe it may be the answer to our prayers, Rossi. Shows the tank well and fits the bag pretty securely. Don't think it would be rock solid as the full Bagster tank cover but for shorter runs, well only road testing will tell for sure, but I think so. Will post pics and details of fitting when I have them down to size.
  11. We have a (generally) mass produced ale here, Boddingtons, that sounds quite similar - at least it's a very long time, if ever, since I've had a 'real' version. Not at all strong and quite creamy although that's in part down to the way it's gassed. Would love to encounter a 'real' craft beer equivalent.
  12. Believe it or not we do have a few small populations of those critters in the UK. One of those populations lives in a rail station platform in Essex, for example. That said, having been to Slaithwaite in Yorkshire ('up North')... yes, you're probably right.

    Jofama is very similar to my sw motech bags connection cargobag. That fits better than my Givi pack with the Ventura rack in the way.

    Thought the Bagster option suited me best as I have three bags already and a worthwhile trial at that price. Will let you know how it fits on the earlier tank when I get to try it out. Could be a few months if the weather turns....

    Ok that looks pretty good and I'm guessing it's stable if yr recommending it. The Sat Nav bag is a Hein Gericke item designed to fit it then?BTW Trevini, do you put one strap of the throw-over panniers under the seat as the makers intend? The reason I ask is that that was the source of a whole load of weird electrical problems as that under strap messed with relay and fuse banks. I've abandoned the use of that style of throw-over for that reason and use the all-in-one cargo pack style of luggage instead now (I'll grant you not much use if you have a pillion though)

    That's a definite candidate and not too pricey for an experiment. The main question is whether it'll do the job without flopping one side or t'other: a thing I've had with universal tank bag covers like this in the past. I suspect it'll be fine on some bikes and useless on others depending on the shape of the tank. The V11 'chin pad' on the earlier tanks won't help in this regard.

  21. That assumes they will have faintest idea what that means, bike thieves being generally pretty dim (exceptions allowed): considering the consequences is just too many steps for most of them to compute, when they're already at 90% capacity trying to read the patch.

  23. Have you tested the alternator output AC? I had problems with AC voltage output only when the engine was warm and was not getting sufficient charge to the battery at higher revs, sounds a bit similar. Not exactly the inverted readings you report though.
  24. Careful with these Electrex reg/recs: we've identified a tendency to leak a trickle and flatten the battery if the bike is not run for a couple of weeks. Just had that problem yesterday when I tried to start the bike and forgot to keep on trickle charge. If you follow their recommendations and run a fat red wire straight back to the battery, rather than using the standard V11 loom red wire, add a large 30 amp blade fuse holder into the line (as you should anyway) and pull the fuse when you leave the bike standing.
