I run Maxon clip on clamps under the top yoke with the OE tubes. Very aggressively prone. As a cheap intermediate step, have you considered a Renthal 658 bend? http://road.renthal.com/shop/road-products/road-handlebars/road-se-bars?product_id=1988

The difference between + & - You gotta play your cards rights. http://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=3&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CDEQtwIwAg&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3D5aZ69V1Db28&ei=wOnjU5OtD-K57AbalYHQAw&usg=AFQjCNHivrQt4sYe23xIyYzDehsdhZmqeg&bvm=bv.72676100,d.ZGU

VX800 actually, and yes the Griso's are much better. Do have to watch them in traffic though.

I do for track days and on the lead up to. I leave the under top yoke bracelets on all the time. I put the over top yoke bracelets on for normal road use, but that have to be removed if the tubes are in the lower bracelets, as the hydraulic wells foul.

Some of you may recall I fitted a new dash a while back. Well, another bane of the V11 I wanted to resolve was the mirrors. The original mirrors don't favour removal at the collet well and I don't like the ideal of removal at the handlebar clamp. Having had one of the collets disintegrate on me, I have set about looking for alternatives. Having the new dash which is quite angular, I decided to try and mimic this in the mirrors and have something functional too with out breaking the bank. A bit of searching around and I opted to give some Griso mirrors a try from Gutsibits. Fitted now, they perform well at all speeds, give splendid review vision and were cheaper than the V11 ones and appear to be a better design. If you are going to be doing a lot of commuting/filtering/lane cutting (which I am not on this bike), perhaps a tad wide, but otherwise a good choice me thinks. Comments positive and negative welcome.

http://www.starbrite.com/en/startron Has anyone tried this stuff to protect the V11 plastic tank?
-
Great news, and thank you for reporting back.
-
Have you got Ethanol poisoning. The V11 tank will only stand up to 5% Ethanol contamination. Many countries are now running up to 10%. The effect is the plastic the tank is made from swells. Hope I'm wrong.

Gonna be playing this game myself in in the coming week. Got all three springs, just got to summon up the "get up and go".

Can't hurt the weight distribution.

It doesn't use the sensor. You tell it how far you trust to get on a tank. When you fill, you reset the trip. 30miles before you reach your safe limit, it starts blinking at you. I set it to 160, so I get an alert as 130. If you forget leaving the pumps, it thinks your still empty, acting as a reminder.

Here's the speed sensor on the rear brake hanger. Calibration of the Translogic can be done on a paddock stand with the bike in 6th. Using the old speedo as the standard, you can set the translogic to it easily. Less of a faf than riding it alongside a mates bike and playing with the dash button to set it up on the hoof.

As if by magic now I can. Here it is on a home made backing plate in demo mod. I am leaving the plastic coating on the aluminium until it is anodised. Early impressions are good to excellent.

Well it's on, up and running. I was gonna share some pictures, but I don't see to be able to at this time. Has there been some changes whilst I have been absent. Used to be able to.

Adding lightness. Bit of an oxymoron there me thinks. LOL

For got to mention, my R850R I found need the sustension upgrading. New Hagon front with adjustable damping. New Hagon rear. Replacement torque are with adjustable length. I used the Hagons to raise the ride height 10mm both ends. I used the adjustable torque arm to raise the rear a further 15mm. It did handle alot better like that.

I picked up the TransLogic Mini Dash this evening. I have ordered a second hand OE plate that that the clocks sit in from Gusibits. They should be here next week. I will take my time fettling the TrLg on to that plate. I have a track day in 3 weeks at Oulton Park, so once that's done I'll set about installing it. Watch this space.

I have had a BMW R850R 2001 alongside a V11 2003. The 850 was a great bike. Egonomics were great, BMW luggage extra's were great, fuel usage was good. Now, I am a rider more than a wash and polisher. I could see the engine coated BMW rotting underneath me, but the V11 held up much better. I was a motorcycle courier for 5 years on Suzuki and Honda's. I saw folk using BMW boxers and they all had major problems. Engine, gearbox, clutch and bevel box. I never couriered mine but I did have a gearbox seal go in the first two year under warranty. It required the engine and gearbox to be seperated. Glad I didn't have to pick up the bill. In 2010, enough was enough and I got shot, although did not loose loads having had it for 8 years. I have now the 750 Breva to replace the 850 BMW. I won't be having another BMW until I see a quality turn around. Mind you, I wouldn't have a big block Guzzi later than a V11/Quota either.

I like the look and price of those, closest match to the original that I have seen. I assume that they are weatherproof? I can see if you are looking to just change one clock out, then the pricing looks attactive. However, I am looking at a complete change out. The TransLogic does the indicators, oil, high beam as will as revs and speed with lap timer. The pricing than does not look so bad.

GR, What and where is the speed sensor on your bike? Thanks

Bill's comments are not without merit. The first thing to establish is the dimension of you current bars and then look at your options.

Renthal make some narrow Fatbars that are popular for road use. See here scrolling down for the dimensions and how to compare them to your own bars. http://www.renthalroad.com/File/fatbar.aspx They also make Fatbars for a range of off-road bikes.
