  1. I bow to your insightful remark, sir.
  2. I'll try to find out for you. BTW, it's Elkader, IA. And for those who might come to it (advert follows)- it's a beautiful part of the country with a number of excellent day rides. It also has all the corn you can stand to look at, a few eccentric museum owners, a big river, and at least one thunderstorm. Additionally, you have your dinner served to you by...I'm not making this up....the Iowa Pork Queen Now before you get excited, she's a little too young for you. J
  3. you mean government.com, inc. I've been asked about modifications, but I usually just mention my fairing. It isn't covered by insurance...neither are the bags for that matter. J
  4. You're freaky? Now I'm a bit worried.

  6. No kidding- I'm with Mike. After the jacket and the rock, I wouldn't have waited for strike three. Good luck with the next phase. J

    Oil Leak

Or it could be as simple as the mechanic reused the crush washer on the drain bolt and now it doesn't seal.
  8. Hmmm, I wonder if he'd be interested in trading for a Dodge Dart. Clearly one of the finest cars ever made.
  9. Glad to help. If I recall, you have a Le Mans- they connectors *might* be different and mate up without an issue, but it is definitely something to ask about when and if you order one.

    V11 Courier bike?

Or consider a dual-sport. They're better at taking curbs and they are nice and thin for threading through traffic.

    V11 Oil Cooler

Aluminum brackets were used on some of the earliest sports. They were phased out or were in the porcess of phasing out by '01. I have steel brackets...and a rock guard on my '01 sport.

Here's a few that are peripherally relevant- enjoy: A few clowns short of a circus. A few fries short of a Happy Meal. An experiment in Artificial Stupidity. A few beers short of a six-pack. Dumber than a box of hair. A few peas short of a casserole. Doesn't have all his cornflakes in one box. The wheel's spinning, but the hamster's dead. One Fruit Loop shy of a full bowl. One taco short of a combination plate. A few feathers short of a whole duck. All foam, no beer. The cheese slid off her cracker. Body by Fisher, brains by Mattel. Couldn't pour water out of a boot with instructions on the heel. He fell out of the Stupid tree and hit every branch on the way down. An intellect rivaled only by garden tools. As smart as bait. Chimney's clogged. Doesn't have all his dogs on one leash. Doesn't know much but leads the league in nostril hair. Elevator doesn't go all the way to the top floor. Forgot to pay her brain bill. Her sewing machine's out of thread. His antenna doesn't pick up all the channels. His belt doesn't go through all the loops. If she had another brain, it would be lonely. Missing a few buttons on his remote control. No grain in the silo. Proof that evolution CAN go in reverse. Receiver is off the hook. Several nuts short of a full pouch. Skylight leaks a little. Slinky's kinked. Surfing in Nebraska. Too much yardage between the goal posts. Not the sharpest knife in the drawer. The lights are on, but nobody's home. 24 cents short of a quarter.

    V11 push start?

Put a transil diode in and don't worry about surges. J
  18. Fernando- I don't think it's going to be a simple mate up. My switch went out one time shortly after getting the bike. I took it in to have the switch replaced- my dealer happened to have a Euro switch in stock (I can't remember why he had one). He was going to just put that on until he looked at the connector and they didn't match. So...I waited a month, got a US style switch; he sent the Euro style back. Sorry, Jason

    Heated Grips

Just an FYI, but here's another possibility- a doodad switch from aerostich. http://www.aerostich.com/product.php?produ...49&cat=0&page=1 Unfortunately, it's an SPST switch, but if all you need is on/off, then it should work (assuming there's enough space to mount it)
  20. you'll notice the headers are different lenghts- hence the markings. It'll be pretty obvious even if they weren't marked. J
  21. thanks for the info. I can see perimeter brakes being referred to as radial, but I don't see how these are. Maybe we should come up with tangential brakes. hmmm, then again maybe that refers to drums...

    ALARMMMMM

Zeb, sorry to hear that. Send notes to the French/German/Swiss/Belgian/Italian/Spanish Moto Guzzi lists. Best of luck recovering the bike and crushing the vile bastards that did this to you. Jason

    Fork Seal

If that doesn't work, you could try a suspension shop like Lindemann engineering or one of the others that have come up here on the forum. J
  24. Umm, pardon my ignorance, but what's the difference between axial and radial mount? Jason
  25. Thanks TX! Looks like a perimeterish frame up top, but why did they put the rear swingarm pivots so close together? Seems like they should have gone outside the driveline for a wider, more rigid pivot. Heck, it probably doesn't matter a whit. Cool picture, though- you guys are the best Jason edit- I liked the quota too. I wasn't aware it had the same style frame. Too bad it didn't sell better.
