  1. Dan, I wrote up a 'how to' adapt a set of bars to the V11. It's pretty easy really, and I used bars that were short enough that I did not have to replace the brake line. My cost was around $2-250US. It looks like the V11lemans webpage link is down (Jaap?), so here's some pictures on my website: http://plasterbath.chem.uiowa.edu/fairing/bars/bars.html If you want a more ergonomic position, I would suggest higher bars than I used, and also check out Ian's adaptation of Centauro footpegs onto a V11. However, you also should look into the risers option. The biggest disadvantage of mounting bars is that you have to drill out the triple clamp. It doesn't compromise the strength, but you do have two permanent holes. Cheers, Jason
  2. The marbles, putty, fiberglass, old stick, etc. still take up volume. It's a no-gain situation, Enzo. Sorry. Kind of funny, though Gary.
  3. Yeah, sorry about that. You could paint (powdercoat) them, but what's the point after having them polished? They sure do look nice though. I'll bet someone would pay a nice premium to put those on their Jackal/Stone/EV/etc. I found one old round-case valve cover in the garage (where'd that come from???). I'll try cleaning it up and anodizing it in the next month or two. When I do, I'll let ya'll know how it turns out. Cheers, Jason

    clutch slip

That's too bad. I had a very slow leak through the rear main seal on my '01- I'm talking so slow that it never dripped, never smoked. But...it contaminted the clutch and it slipped just like you are describing. Options (off the top of my head): -take it back and make the dealer fix it (hope it's under warranty) -fix it yourself (builds character) -plug up the drain on the bottom of the bell housing, spray a sh**load of solvent (brake cleaner I -think) into the bell housing and let that wash off the oil (Mark Ethridge method) -hope it goes away (not likely) -live with it (not very satisfying) J EDIT: Forgot to add- if you use the mark e. method, then you RUN the bike and excercise the clutch while the fluid is in the housing. Ay yi yi.

    What to wear

I really didn't need to see that. Why don't any of you wear silk undies? Too hot? J
  6. Alright, here's what I really think about this thread. BTW, it's 9:27am

    Oil filters

Someone should CC some of the relevant info to Greg Field, Tips Editor for the Moto Guzzi National Owners club. Cheers, Jason
  8. Can't read the yellow. Try red or green or sumpin' a bit darker. J
  9. I vote no on the eagle. The styles are just too different to cohabitate. Nice pic of you and Al, Al. J
  10. Antonio, Drain your gearbox oil and look for metal shavings or pieces. Fish around inside the tranny with a telescopic magnet. Also, put it on a centerstand, and rotate the rear tire by hand. How does it feel? These will tell you if you busted a tooth without taking the tranny apart (they're not unambiguous, but they are easier than dissasembling the tranny). If you do think you have a broken gear, fix it before you drive it anymore. Maybe you only broke the return spring if you're lucky? Anyway, my condolences. J

    MPG?

Hmmm, I get about 110 US miles before my light flickers, but I also get about 34ish MPG. BTW, 1 US gallon = 0.833 Imperial gallons = 3.785 L = 0.024 barrel of oil = 757 US teaspoons. J

    Oil filters

    You made your own filter?
  13. Guzzi speedometers are notoriously optimistic. On my Eldorado, at 65mph I have 80mph indicated. My other Guzzi's are similar, but not as bad. Even the newer speedo on the sport is optimistic, I would imagine. Is this something the Guzzi engineers specify? LOL. One other component to this- where is the speedo detector on the Concours? On the Guzzi, it's on the tranny- i.e. coupled to the rear tire. The rear tire does slip a bit at higher speeds, giving a faster indication than true speed. J
  14. Greg Field also mentions something about these 'drag strip' kinds of tests in his book. I believe it was in regard to the V11 sport, but I don't have it here in front of me. J

    Datatool

Why can't you unhook it? Cap off the wires and leave the led in place.
  16. Actually, thats an interesting set of parts. Most people swap out the exhaust first, then move to other parts. I'll be interested in what you have to say about it. J
  17. You get them for free? Heck, I'll take one at that price!
  18. Sorry, it was a little out there. Check here for the technical specs on the Gambalunga. The example I saw in the Guzzi factory was gray, with the art deco decal. http://www.dameijer.demon.nl/gambalunga.htm cheers, J
  19. Ditto. I got mine back from the dealer last night. Maybe shifts a little easier, maybe a little less driveline lash, but I'm not sure yet. Damn, but that bike sounded good when I first started it! J
  20. Al, think 'Gambalunga'. The latest "Robb Report" has an article about that bike and the bike has a slightly different graphic. Did anyone buy that rag? Could I get a copy of the picture if anyone did? OK, OK I'm cheap. I admit it. J
