  1. Windchill, The only issue with the Guzzi stand, and others that lift on those mounts, is that it is pretty easy to gouge the aluminum pork chops if you dont fit the lift properly. Just be careful the first couple of times you use it, or don't worry about nicking the paint. Either strategy works. J
  2. Oh, so it's the oil thread, is it? Is there a 'tear your hair out' smilie? Any oil is good oil. I've got hundreds of thousands of miles on plain, cheap-a$$ gear lube. I've got a bunch of miles on Mobil 1 and I've heard/read people swear by Redline. Synthetics generally have better wear properties and those with molydisulfide have better lubricity. How cheap are you? If your cheap, use anything and if you're not cheap, use synthetic. Just my opinion. J

  6. I've had good luck using a dremel tool and an appropriate sized grinding wheel or burr. It just melts through the plastic- no grabbing. As with a drill, you need to go slow, but I've never had them crack. Cheers, J

  11. Hi Jaap, Don't just let it dangle- given the robust nature of Guzzi electronics, it would probably catch on fire.     fbf pistons

    One of the few problems I had with my bike was the the left-hand switch gear quit working. What does fuse 6 control? Could they be related, i.e. the switch has grounded out? Dang, Carl or somebody posted a key for the fuseblock, but I cant find it right off. Cheers, Jason

  17. Well, I'm really glad you checked everything out. Loss of the front wheel would be exciting, to put it mildly. If you are feeling energetic, then you probably ought to 'Carl-Allison-ize' your bike by checking and greasing every electrical bullet fastener you can get hold of. The ones under the tank are particularly prone to oxidation, then they fail, then the bike does weird things and this guy starts showing up: Not pretty. Cheers, Jason

  19. Hi Mr. Bean, Glad you are enjoying your bike! They are a lot of fun. I think a spare relay is a good call- you might not use it, but it takes less space than a MZ cable. A spare plug is also a good idea, but I've not heard of plug fouling as a problem on the V11. I would put the crappy tools that came with the bike on a shelf to collect dust, then replace them with a decent tool kit, just replicate what came with the bike with better quality, and one of those multi-tip screwdriver tools. Oh, if the front wheel bolt came loose, take that as a hint to check all the other fasteners you can get a wrench on. Cheers, J
  20. Nice line there. What's the idle set to? Can you use the idle advance to keep it running when you come to a stop? If so, maybe you just need to step up the idle (should be what...1K or thereabouts?). Does it run off the line well? Any backfires, pops, etc? If so, then perhaps the TB's aren't synched correctly, or the dealer set the CO levels incorrectly. Can't help you with the paint. Cheers, Jason
  21. Welcome Aquila, There really are a lot of options for exhaust- everything from factory to aftermarket to homegrown. If you're interested in the Guzzi Ti cans, you might check the classifieds on this board. Arbi K. had a set for sale, and you could get them cheaper than from a dealer. Cheers, Jason
  22. I don't think you ought to worry about year models so much as individual cycles. Sure, every year has it's own 'problem area', but the problem bikes are few and far between. I've got an '01 sport- no problems to speak of. Cheers, Jason

    Worn Rockers?

    If you're looking to buy a V11 lemans or sport variant, then there's no need to worry. That model still uses solid lifters. If you're going to get an EV/Stone/etc variant, then the valve issue should be worked out shortly, and you still don't need to worry. Hey, its a win-win situation. Jason
