  1. +1 Me too.
  2. When I bought my V11 sport (2001), I got a tshirt from the dealer with a hand-drawn V11 sport on the back. It was a pretty good representation. No idea if he still has any, but the dealer was Ned's Auto and Cycle in Riverside, IA.
  3. Nice ride. I'm trying to carve out some time/money and repaint my '74 Eldo. They are great motorbikes.
  4. I finally had a chance to see one of the new V7 racers at a vintage bike nite (of all places). They are pretty nice looking bikes. i still prefer the 'cafe' or standard versions, but that's just me. Wife has a 750 Breva (one of the first dozen or so brought over). I agree with Pete Roper's assessment as to looks, just not quite as vehemently; it sure is a runner.
  5. I can give my endorsement for Mark E. as well. He's crazy as the day is long, but he is also honest and a pro-Guzzi dealer.

    Hiho Playmates!

There are a couple folks on this forum who have done something like that. Look up Jihem and a French fellow who's name I can't remember, but his very trick V11 was stolen 4-5 years ago. Good Lord, I sound like hick giving directions. 'Take the second left after the old Johnson place. It burned down two years ago, but everyone in these parts knows where it used to be.' Got it- Zebulon. The train is on the track, but I'm not sure where the track goes...
  7. Glad to hear she is moving again. You've done a yeoman's job on it and I'm sure you'll appreciate many, many good miles from here on out (touches wood).

    V11 MAD

    No, he's MAD
  9. Crossposted from the Loopframe list. Here's a bikemaker for the Luddites among us. I'm not sure these even run on petrol- maybe kerosene or lamp wick? http://www.mwv2.com

    Exhaust Option

I've read that this set can add up to 10 hp on the top and bottom end.
  11. Best of luck to you- I hope the treatments cure you right up. J
  12. Or get GUZZI valve covers- first item on this page: http://sportcyclepacific.com/featured.html
  13. OK, so this is a bit tangential to the subject. Given that the speedo gears are not readily obtainable, but made of plastic, wouldn't these be a good candidate for 3D printing? Anybody have a 3D printer? I'm keen to get one, but I can't quite justify it.
  14. It isn't a LeMans I. It is probably a pig compared to one, but it can be significantly improved. The SP fairing and lowers are considered among the best designs ever. They are a bit aesthetically challenged to some, but they do work well. The SP is a mid-performance bike for Guzzi (so a tractor compared to the inline 4 crowd). Along with the G5 (my favorite) and the Eldorado (also my favorite), it is one of the most comfortable touring bikes ever made.
  15. What if the teeth are going just by age reasons? Hubert Juice, perhaps?
  16. BTW, Dynavector MC high output or Linn MM, or what? I'm in a quandry. I prefer MM, because it is simpler and is more 'universal', but a lot of purists say that MM is the better solution. My MM sounds just fine. As an aside, if you are into DIY, and don't mind soldering a board up, then try an Aikido. I haven't made the phono stage yet, but the preamp stage is unbelievably quiet with a huge dynamic range. I'm impressed. I'm in the process of building my second phonograph...maybe I ought to put a MC cartridge on it and build a step-up stage. I dunno- I'm ready to be done with it- I just want something that will word perfectly forever . Have an orange. That takes care of most of this scura-business
  17. You know a proper and regular dose of vitamin C prevents this affliction, right? Sailors have known this for eons. Why are you land lubbers so slow?
  18. Ah, I'm glad you are well enough to ride. Sorry to hear about the sketchy employment. That's a problem a lot of folks have had. I'm lucky and I'll admit it- our daughter is getting a good education right now, because my wife has a job where we can afford it. As it turns out, the easiest way to get a good education in STL is to pay out the nose for it. Some school districts downtown are not even accredited. She (daughter) just started elementary so we have a long time, but eventually she gets free tuition at my University- one of the few perks of the job. Still, I doubt I'll take advantage of that, although I might take a few courses myself.
  19. Weird. Guzzi never made an inline 4 in that direction and certainly didn't mate it with a shaft. Actually, looking at it- it looks like a V8ish (but still longitudinal)...like a Motus? Damn you Skeeve, I need a glass of whisky now. Maybe Jim is right- the guy just put some model pieces together??
  20. I'm sorry to hear that Mike. I've had to move to more upright bikes as well, but for more chronic rather than traumatic reasons. I hope you heal up well! (healt up well? held up well?) Do you still have the Jackal that you were converting into a cafe bike? Jason
  21. When you change the oil, do yourself some cheap insurance- Put a big ol' hose clamp around the filter to keep it from unscrewing itself.
  22. I am personally not a big fan of low head cap screws, since they have less 'meat' for the allen to fit into. Would a button head cap screw work for you? They have a gentle rise that makes them look lower than they are. Vanity perhaps...but I like a gentle rise, wink, wink.
  23. ditto on the above + get yourself some good riding gear. I've had motorcycles for the past 30 or so years and I (we) have raised a kid while riding. She rides in the sidecar for now, but will be on pillion when she gets a bit longer in the leg.Just be careful, don't trust cagers and reference the statement on good protective riding gear. You'll enjoy the Guzzi. They are good bikes when sorted out and the sorting is easy.
  24. Wishing you good luck!
  25. Christmas? What are you talking about? With this heat, it's obviously Walpurgis night.
