  1. lauded as the greatest rock album of all time, Sgt Pepper was released 40 years ago today. So- to celebrate, I broke out the vinyl and played the way it should on it on my all tube-based system. Nice. but abbey road is still better
  2. I second that. And I'll add- sometimes you eat the bar, sometimes the bar eats you. Unfortunately, the weather was extreme at the IA rally and it's difficult to convince one'self to wear the gear. I'm glad you did and it was (and always is) the right decision. You should have come down for the Illinois rally this year- weather was great, for once!
  3. I had a BMW that sheared the threaded end of the cam where the points mount. I drilled it out, put in a stud and JB welded that sucker in there. Never gave me any trouble.
  4. I'd vote for a TIG weld, except that the alloys Guzzi uses are crap. If you weld it, then have it welded by a pro.
  5. I didn't know you had a get-off. Hope you're ok. I like the rear brake lever- that's a nice looking fix I would worry about the crankcase, though. If it's cracked, then it is structurally less sound and as a stressed member of the frame, that bears close observation. Keep an eye on it!

    Yeah, there's no indication of manufacture on the key itself. The only marking on my key is "154". I wouldn't be surprised if all the tekno bags used the same key (like old pontiacs...). If you can remove the locks, take them to a locksmith and have some keys made up. Or, call up one of the more established Guzzi dealers and see what they say about it. MPH is a site sponser and those guys are very knowledgable. Greg Field from MI should also have some good ideas. Steve, you do need help, and not just in the key department. Remember the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem. The second step is to allow friends to help you out. It will be a burden, but I'm willing to go the distance and give you a helping hand by taking one or more of your Ducati singles off your hands.

  12. If it really is a friction plate demounting (and that description sounds about right), then you will not be enjoying the ride very long. The clutch will rapidly get more grabby and it will feel like it's destroying your transmission. If a plate has completely separated, then it moves off center and you'll feel increased vibration. Also, if you have a riveted plate, then the rivets can eat into the intermeadiate plate or the flywheel plate..depending on which clutch plate delaminated. I would look into the cost of tools, new friction plates and also replace the springs while you are in there...or compare it to a RAM clutch which is easier to install (if you are a DIY fellow).

You and you and you and you aren't going to change anyone's mind nor convert anyone to your particular reasoning, so there's no point in going on. You're just irritating the natives. I just drove in from the Illinois Rally (great time, great weather) and I have to come to work on a Sunday morning, and I haven't seen my wife and kid for a couple days, so I'm generally grumpy.   15. Motorcycle Consumer News just reviewed the Norge and they liked it a lot- better than the Bimmer RT. It's a good read and a balanced review.
  16. Don't take this the wrong way, Nog....but I really don't need to know how it all turns out. Here's a picture of my students and myself as promised. Note their fresh, bright-eyed enthusiasm and my dull, washed out, worn down expression. actually- I'm as proud as any Pappa. These are good kids and they're familly now.
  17. Mine's mounted with the spacer...not that I like it that far out. If you can tuck the mounts in, it will look better.
  18. you can fit either aftermarket or stock mufflers to the Stucchi crossover. My guess is that the exhaust note will be louder even with stock mufflers, but I can't really say from experience- just from knowing that the Stucchi doesn't have any internal baffling (vs. the stock item). I'm running Mistral pipes right now. Can't really say if makes any more power, but it does sound better and that gives me the impression of more power. I am not running a PCIII.

  20. Remove the leads from the dyna coils and measure the resistance. Then compare that to the resistance of a stock coil. You might need to add a resistor to the dyna coil. I cannot remember what the Guzzi coil resistance should be...5K maybe? You better check.
  21. That was my second thought as well. My first, of course, is that the riders are doing ok and not too badly hurt.
