  1. "Whisk", yes. As in whisk you away to oblivion. "Key", no. As in key to sobriety.
  2. So what are you saying? We 'Mericans drink like Wussky's? Thanks for the comments. I'm really enjoying this. I can't say I have a strong preference or aversion for a particular style yet. Fortunately, I like them all. Haven't tried Speyside, so I'll give it a go. Never heard of Red Breast, so I'll ask my Somallier about getting it. When I was at CalTech, my wonderful, beautiful wife bought me an entrance to a Scotch tutorial and tasting hosted by a representative from Balvenie. There were different ages, different woods (the Madeira casket aged whisky was different and quite good), etc. A real fun time was had, I think.
  3. Laphroig will tarnish your injectors...Good stuff, though. I am working on a bottle of Talisker right now. Oh- I have a bottle of some McAllen that's "oak cask" something or other- pretty good stuff. Hey all you Scottish-type people- I am always up for suggestions on new Whiskys.
  4. Dammit, you owe me a laptop keyboard-
  5. Actually, that's pretty normal for the type of clutch you have in the Scura. It's a single plate type clutch as opposed to dual plate style that is found in most of the V11 variants and they are loud. You can see some pictures of the internals of the two types on the mgcycle webpage (http://www.mgcycle.com/clutch.html) but it's not real useful if you don't know how a clutch is assembled. By the by, your clutch resembles the RAM clutch most closely. However, you may or may not have a real problem. There is a documented history of a small fraction of Scura flywheels coming apart. If it comes apart...it could ruin your engine and ruin your day. Even if it's a small fraction, if it is you, then it is 100%. Do a search here for exploding clutch.
  6. Really long shot, and doesn't match your description, but also think about the timing chain.
  7. A Malanca? Actually, it looks a lot like a MZ.
  8. If anyone gets it, my money is on Martin or Mike. And Martin's been curiously absent. hmmm...A Bridgestone 350?
  9. I saw this link on another website- looked interesting. http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/windjammer/...ind-blocker.htm supposedly blocks low frequency wind buffetting- might be good in conjunction with ear plugs and it might be a pretty nice addition in winter...
  10. You mentioned the obvious (to me) solution- the 'buttons' need to be cleaned periodically or else they ain't floating rotors. It's common to every year. That's also (one of) my problem right now- I have pulsing brakes (pretty mild), but I checked run-out and it looks ok. I suspect there is some cleaning due. This doesn't mean you don't have warped rotors, but I think the later (during and after 2001) rotors are not as prone to warping. You have "triangles" in the brake spokes, right? Those are the better ones than the 'circles'. ok, actually it is more accurately described as a 'sector' instead of a 'triangle', but I'm sure you get the point, lol. Damn, I'm a nerd.
  11. Just hit it with some clear coat paint. Wont last forever, but you'll have an idea of whether you want to keep it. In any event, I bet a smoother, shinier cover would look pretty nice without being too high on 'bling' factor.
  12. I have a Honda Trail 90 that I promise won't get you into trouble. Unless you have a girlfriend. You meet the nicest people....
  13. Oh, Nogbad we beseech thee, don't bastardize the high standards set forth by stumpers and this forum alike. For all we can see, it could be a vespa (unlikely) wrapped up in airtech products (also unlikely). OK, how about a Honda CBX250? Also unlikely, but a cool bike nonetheless.
  14. Damn, I can't bring myselft to do that. I get up to the yellow and that's about it. Huey, I'd say Paul is about right. I don't know of any oiling issues with the bike in general. It's been working well for about 40 years now. The design on the V11 is kind of sketchy with the pickup as far forward as it is, but a real problem with the pump or galleys is pretty rare (I have heard of the woodruff key shearing on the pump on one bike). Another problem I've heard of is reinstalling the main bearing with the oil galley not matching the source. Not cool. Look carefully at the bypass valve, and make sure the oil filter is screwed on properly and it should be good to go. If you have the equipment, it would be a good insurance to measure cold and/or hot oil pressure just to satisfy curiosity about the above-mentioned items.
  15. Lead musket balls? If so, please be careful and wear a dust mask and work outside with plenty of wind( away from you) when you take the bars apart. Lead dust is quite toxic and neurotoxic. I put superbike bars on mine and don't really notice any increased vibration. I thought about using some lead shot also, but in the end just isolated my bars with some rubber washers.
  16. THANKS George! I've been looking for those for a year now. It's some fellow in Sweden or Denmark, isn't it?
  17. Well, after it sat for 4 months, I did recharge it. Seems to be fine though. I may have jynxed mine too, but Ned's is just down the street and has them in stock, so I'm feeling brash and devil-may-care.
  18. What kind of motor is it running?
  19. +1 I like's ya both, but Huey is asking for help- let's give him some. Ya'll take your arguments over to global warming (shudder).
  20. Yep, the Sport seems to be doing well. I even still have the original battery! I have access to a MIG, TIG and gas welding, so it sounds like I have lots of options. The tank is still airing out, but everyone's advice on backfilling with argon is well noted. Big J, your method intrigues me...but no thanks. Dr.Gil- I'm happy to help.
