WORLDWIDE, THERE EXIST 4.5 BIOLOGICALLY PRODUCTIVE ACRES PER PERSON. IF EVERYONE LIVED LIKE YOU, WE WOULD NEED 2.9 PLANETS. We have lot's of farmer's markets 'round here. That helps. Flying a lot doesn't. I want to see helicopterjim's score!

Ah, that's where I got mine- from Greg's site a la John Schwartz. Thanks Twhitaker

    Battery light

I thought this alternator was a little higher output than previous ones, but on earlier Guzzi's, if you weren't running above 2K rpm, there wasn't enough output to charge. My initial guess would be that there is some oxidation built up on either the three connections at the alternator, a ground wire, or at the voltage regulator. If the light goes out at higher rpm, it's not an immediate crisis. It's almost certainly not your battery.

    Nuts N Bolts

I sent an email to jedione68 that I have a list of torque settings (pdf file) from the V7/T/T3 line. I'd be happy to email it to him- or anyone who wants it for that matter. Most of the values are going to cross over for standard settings. send me a pm or an email if you want it.
  6. Naw, that'd be Tennessee. Nothing but redneck farmers here (they're the same all over the world). Soybeans and corn, baby, beans and corn.
  7. Holy antiquated technology, Batman- that's freakin' cool. If he comes through Iowa, he's welcome here.
  8. Joe, there's only one way to answer this question and that is through careful, controlled scientific experiments. Here's what you need to do- Attach a pod directly to the intake on the left-hand side of the bike (left as you are sitting on the bike) Attach a pod to the intake runner on the right-hand side of the bike Go for a ride and note whether the bike pulls to the left or the right. If it pulls to the left, then the 'direct contact' pod application is favored, and if it pulls to the right, then the 'pod on intake runner' is favored. This analysis is derived from the fact that the intakes point backwards and the resultant vacuum will slow you down on that side. Take it easy at first, don't veer off the road and be careful of trees. I'll send you a bill.
  9. You could write a tell-all book and cash in on the advance. New bike parts? Hell no.... new bike. Seriously- I have a lot of respect for Debs and you.

    Nero Corsa- TWEAKED!

Yep, You might consider reading this thread so that next time you won't consider exactly the right part. Instead, some duct tape or perhaps (my favorite) a zip tie.
  11. dang guys, take care out there and wear your gear! Glad you are ok, Tom. As others point out- mechanisms are repairable, people aren't.
  12. Take a look at the magnetic tip on the oil drain plug. If there are metal flakes, then worry- otherwise, it could be water like what's in your tranny. The transmission is prone to picking up water through the breather; a couple of threads were written up on this issue. Not sure what to tell you to prevent it. This assumes you get the bike up to operating temperature, etc. To get to the front grease fitting, you need a swivel head grease tip and some patience (the first time). It's easiest if you raise the rear of the bike so the wheel hangs down as far as possible, it's easier to get to. Also, some people have ground the end of the tip down.

    Uploading Photo

Not to hijack the thread, but since Martin brought it up (HE hijacked it ) About every other new page load fails here at work- I get a 'server not found' type error. Refreshing once to three times fixes it. Doesn't seem to be happening on other websites. Anyone else getting this type of behavior?

    Nero Corsa- TWEAKED!

Actually, you don't want a real strong bolt in there. If you were to (diety forbid) crash, then you want the bolt to shear rather than the argal shifter. By all means, take it to the dealer to have them sort it, but if you do it yourself, just use a regular (6mm?) bolt and a tiny drop of red loctite on the threads. You'll never worry about it again.
  16. excuse me, but I've never walked into a haggis. tripped over one, maybe.

    oil temp

Usually 80-100, but it gets up to 120 on occasion (traffic jams). Dead of winter, it rarely gets above 60.
  19. As a backup, and I rather hope that MG USA comes through on this, reboot guzzi spares just posted a classified for a V11 to be parted out. BTW, the Kaw is a hoot to ride, but not unbreakable. I augered mine into a sand dune the other day and just about wasted the radiator. Also, the idler spring needs to be replaced as soon as you buy one. But other than that.... they're pretty good bikes as far as I can tell.
  20. Sorry TX, I thought it was only the Mac download that wasn't available yet. I didn't check the PC.
  21. update: I just read about google:earth, which appears to be similar to what Jim described. Apparently, it doesn't work for Mac's just yet, and I'm not sure about PC's: http://earth.google.com/index.html
  22. Not necessarily Richard. I have pods, and still get vapor lock on a rare occasion. One easy preventitive measure to take is to have a full tank. The recirculation of gasoline disperses the heat to some extent.
  23. Hi Craig- if you tape a piece of cardboard around the driveshaft tunnel (extend the tunnel), then it will catch all the fling-off and you don't have to clean up. J
