  1. My first guess would be the TPS- have you checked it's resistance at WFO? The other part involved would be the injectors, but I can't imagine how that might create a overvoltage or grounding fault...
  2. Absolutely, but bhat's going to be a little harder to quantify, given the various materials and various radii of the parts of the clutch. The good part, though, is that the 'heavy' stuff is near the center.

    Corban Seat !

  4. It's a bit higher on the V11. Check this thread: http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=5121 Here's a discussion of valve specs- US, world, and Raceco http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=3235 This should REALLY be pinned in the FAQ section I kind of quit following this one, but there are several options (this isn't complete). MPH cycles sells a complete kit www.mphcycles.com under V11 stuff. Williamsburg made or makes risers, I think cyclecat made some. I don't recall which company, but one set cracked on IanJ's bike. You might want to avoid that particular brand. I put handlebars on my bike. It was easy and cheap. http://www.v11lemans.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=1061 Cheers, Jason
  5. Sorry, I can't answer that. I only weighed the entire assembly. It sounds pretty reasonable, though- the clutch plate is pretty stout and the diaphragm is steel. Together, they probably make up most of the mass. J

    New Guy From New Jersey

Welcome- I wasn't aware that the Cali had the same ECU as the sport- the V11sport has a Weber 15M. Cheers, Jason
  7. Bruce convinced me and he's right- it's a night and day difference. Gear changing is very predictable and precise now.
  8. How do you know the motor locked up? Not denying- just curious. You can pop the front alternator cover off and there is an allen head bolt which is used to turn the motor over (take out the spark plugs first). If the motor turns over, pop off a valve cover and check for valve actuation. If they move, the timing chain is intact (not to say it didn't skip a tooth, though).
  9. No- the first couple of years, '00 and '01 were silver engine cases. my bike-

    x-over problems

I had a serious hp dip at 3-4K rpm that were remedied by a Stucchi (seat of pants dyno). Vibration was also down in this rpm range, but I'll be the first to admit that doesn't make a lot of sense. AJ- my Stucchi was also a poor fit- try removing the entire exhaust system and fitting the Xover/headers up with everything loose at first. Lastly, add the mufflers...or not, if you like that 'nascar' sound Or- have Ferrachi make it good. They're a reputable company, and I'm sure they'll try to work it out.

    Corban Seat !

Seconded- that really is above and beyond, Tony. I'm sure that many will appreciate your efforts.
  12. Hi Edge, sent you an email... Cheers, Jason
  13. Yep, right at 10 lbs which includes the clutch, the transmission input hub, and the 6 bolts.
  14. Nice to meet you too, Dave! Congrats! Be sure and ride the 'great river road'...well, you'll be on part of it this weekend. Check out C9Y north of Dubuque...the best road in your parts and close! Cheers, Jason edit: see you at the rally saturday- Sonya and I'll be there (I'll prolly be on my Eldorado, though)

    Retirement

Sounds like a wet time was had by all! I salute your relaxation techniques, sir.
  16. Now that's below the belt...
  17. Say, do you know a fellow named Pete Roper? Seriously-don't be depressed- it's an internet forum. Sucess stories rarely get posted. You've been riding a Guzzi long enough to know what's what on them and the Le Mans is just as reliable and unreliable as your SP (I have a G5). It's just that the problem points are different, and we're still figuring them out. J
  18. This is a 'two continents separated by a common language' moment. Uh, what's 'studding'? 'Cause the picture in my head comes with music...bow chicka bow bow...
  19. Nogbad- thanks for the bit on roller bearings. I learn something new every day. Anawroki- with regards to Guzzi and valves- looser is almost always better. If warm idle is poor, or it continues to cough or sputter (particularly after high speed decellaration), then the valves are too tight.
  20. Bruce, did it look like this? http://www.avalon.net/~jrt/clutchjob/clutchjob.html I already scanned and made a pdf file. If your's is different, I'd like to see it. Jason
  21. Excellent AJ! I look forward to the results!
  22. Gibernau absolutely kicked butt in that race. That was some very impressive riding. I was sorry to see G lose it, but ultimately, Rossi proved once again that he is not just a man, but rather an alien-human hybrid. I wonder if some ointment would help the sting?
  23. 1.5 kg sounds awfully light. I put a RAM clutch into my Eldorado and it weighed in at 10 pounds (~4.5 kg). That includes everything, including the transmission input spline. FWIW, the Eldorado stock clutch assembly weighed 26 pounds (12 kg). Unfortunately, I don't know the weight of the 'new' sport clutch assemblies, but it is waaay lighter than 26 lbs
