  1. 36mpg. I beat the snot out of mine, doesn't seem to effect efficiency much though.
  2. Doesn't sound like knocking. Mine has always made more noise on the right side. Not sure if it's that loud but it's hard to tell from the video. No advice on the fuel pump if you're stumped I'd have been stumped a long time already....
  3. Ignition switch is where your key goes under the dash. There are a few contacts in the switch itself also check the solder joints while you're there. As Roy said remove and clean the main ground (gearbox wire). Two coils, up front by the oil cooler and horns.
  4. Sorry, hope you're doing well.
  5. How does you ignition switch look? It's a good idea to take it apart and clean it/lube it every now and again. What is battery type/age? I'm sure you've checked running voltage.
  6. Wow! I thought we harbored some spine frame obsessed here.
  7. Got a "sneak away short ride" in today. Yes honey I can go to the store....Some times those quick little rides are precisely what the dr. ordered!
  8. Don't some Scuras have a "limited edition type number plate", some don't? Any correlation? Or am I thinking wrong model altogether?
  9. Where does it go? Pretty sure it was added.
  10. Gauges look sweeet! Kinda kicking myself for buying the almost new veglias this winter...
  11. Aye. What he said. Pay special attention to the large shoulder bolt going into the bracket. It actually threads in there a bit. Then tighten up the nut on the backside. A lot of stress on that bolt/bracket.
  12. Congrats! Patience is not one of my virtues... That wait would probably drive me crazy.
  13. I believe that's right. Hard to tell from the pics. Just adjust it back and forth a few times with the cable. You'll figure out how it works.
  14. Very good info. Thanks for sharing!

    Decent Tune-up

I could never get a steady idle at 1050. I'm usually where Docc is at.

    Decent Tune-up

Did you balance the idle? Most people use the air bleeds for balance at idle then the linkage for above idle then back to air bleeds. Finally Robert will be your mothers brother! What don't you like about the way it runs? 1050 rpm is a little low imo.
  17. Do you still have the US emissions plumbing hooked up?
  18. Buell x1, m2?
  19. You just run a wire from the regulator case to a timing cover bolt. Bam! You're done! Even I can handle it. You can get fancy with a star washer or anything else but a good clean connection is all you need.
  20. She gives then she takes... Bummer dude.
  21. I've always used a small amount of Hylomar sealant upon reassembly. The o-ring probably started out as round...
  22. And DO make sure the o-ring is seated all the way and the bracket is flat as can be on the sensor. Trust me....
  23. Too funny! On Monday at work I was chatting with my co-workers about motorcycles and a guy says something about the fear of hitting birds is too much for him to ever ride. I told a couple stories about guys I knew hitting birds but I'd never hit one. Of course on my way home that day aboard my bike I tagged a red winged blackbird. Yes, for some reason that part of the book stuck with me too, every time I see a red winged I think of that. Not sure how much that ties into your story Docc but thought it was funny. The ghost of Pirsig!

    Remap

Many complain about the torque dip between 3500-4500 rpm. In my opinion these bikes are meant to pull above 5k during spirited riding. So they should never be under tremendous load below that. On the other hand it's a big twin! Should be roarty and snorty from the bottom to the top! Cam timing, etc. I know.... That being said an aftermarket x-over and a different map have made mine a bit more roarty through the lower revs.
