No, can I crank with the plugs disconnected?
-
So I basically did a high-tech version of what Marty recommended using a bore scope/inspection camera. Key on, prime pump, cycle kill-switch 3-4 times, nothing never a dribble of fuel from the injectors. I know that I was told that there should be a squirt from the injectors at start up. Am I getting closer?
-
Chuck, i am leaning towards the injectors myself. What makes me think she's rich (I will gladly be wrong) is that my plugs when pulled have been black. The way I understand fueling is that at idle and low RPMs motors have to run somewhat rich, so maybe inconclusive. Also after she backfires there is most of the time a vapor coming out of the exhaust. Also also the way it revs and the way it reacts to throttle seems to my not wise mind that it is certainly not lean. It reacts somewhat smooth to inputs, revs dont creep and when it's running can smell fuel... a little.

I found wire 23/24...
-
Fresh omrons last summer. I have tried rotating them and tightening bases. I'll try again though....
-
Tried fresh fuel, again. Checked TPS, again. No change. What is wire 23 & 24? The ECU is grounded where? I'm pretty sure it's running rich, would a bad ground effect that? Getting bummed about this, it's just not making sense....

Ok, it's purdy. Thanks

The pump sounds as good as it ever has. I'll measure there too. Thanks again Roy. We should have a Thanks Roy emoji

I honestly didn't look yet. That is very interesting info though. So, uh 12v directly to the injector might've been a little much?
-
For cleaning the injectors all I did was spray some contact cleaner in the nozzle side, in the back then I attempted to back flush them by energizing them with a battery and spray at the same time. I'm not sure I was successful. I did measure fuel coming back from the regulator, is that the same? Good point about re-fouling the plugs. I only tried to start it twice since I put in new plugs but....
-
Aaaargh! I really don't have admit this, but the fuel injector wires were switched. Sadly it made no improvement though... I'm going to drain fuel and get some fresh-er stuff. I still haven't re-checked the fuel injectors themselves seeing how I did clean them. Is there anything tricky with putting those back together? (besides not wiring them wrong!) I'm almost at a loss here....

I do actually have a couple TPS, but I did have a little concern about my timing sensor. I'm going to try a couple things tonight and if I can't get her I'll pm you. Guzzidiag does show fault codes not sure if the 15m (or whatever our ECU is) can throw a code or not but definitely another avenue to check.
-
I've replaced the o-ring on my timing sensor atleast three times now (don't ask) the wire (cable) going into the sensor has seen better days. I think I found a cheap replacement from an Alfa Romeo. Think I'm going to order this for the heck of it. http://m.ebay.com/itm/151457753481 As far as I can tell Scud it was plug and play but yes it is the whole front harness. Mostly lighting and the tach coil. The two harness' looked identical.

I did pull the line off the regulator and it gave me about 1/2-2/3 of a cup when it primed. I've never measured the timing gap and have replaced this o-ring before. If things get desperate I'll measure it. I'll have to check if I've got a meter that measures DC amps. I removed the pump wires one at a time am pretty sure polarity is correct. I did check my coils and verified they are correct. Btw Carl's wiring diagram has the coils labeled backwards. I will verify my injector wires also. HT caps? Plug caps/wires? Yes they are new I will try the old ones. Thanks again guys for all the help. 70f again today some decent rains cleaned up the roads too. This is killing me...

I haven't changed the TPS since last year when she was running sweet. Closed I'm at 157mv at idle I'm 488mv. Idle air screws are closed per Meinolf's instructions. I was balanced perfectly. Here's a quick list of things I've done this winter related to electric/running: New plug wires Cleaned groomed greased electric connections New air box with clean k&n filter New used gauges and associated harness from 01 sport Cleaned fuel injectors Replaced fuel lines fuel filter O-ring for timing sensor New Stucchi x-over

Ok just to re-iterate what she's doing. Starts with a good amount of cranking and some throttle. Throttle held open partially she runs and purrs like a kitten albeit around 2k. Give her a bit of throttle she responds really well (when warmish) then it dies immediately when let off the throttle. Doesn't idle down revs don't "hang" just plain dies. Usually with a super loud backfire. I have checked the TPS a couple times. I never did watch it that carefully but that is a certain possibility for me to look at. Checked coils, everything is good there. Re cleaned and triple checked my wiring, all good. There was a tiny piece of dirt on the timing harness. I've got to charge up my battery now before I can try her again. So, Lucky Phil. 996 Corse eh? WSB? Are you like Troy Bayliss' mechanic? Had to ask. Feel free to ignore. Ha!

The fuel injectors, the input on the coils.... Can't think of any others... I guess the diagnostic and the TPS, but there nowhere near each other.

Lemans I, III, 1000s' and v11's. All are sweet seems the III's are rare. My birthday is in a couple days if anybody is wondering what to get me...
-
Your scaring me Scud. But when it was running the exhaust felt its usual powerful self. Always welcome Docc! The sad part is winter has lamented for a few days and tomorrow is nearing 70f! I'm on daddy duty until the head honcho gets back but, what if I somehow crossed up the input wires on the coils(R to L, L to R)? Would it even run?

Believe me if I was in the market for a v11 I would snap up "Champagne Wishes" asap. Timing sensor is connected with 661 ohms of resistance Fuel is fresh non-oxy 91 proof Good point on the rags, I had one in there while the air box was off and the rags are gone. I double checked. Just saw a 13 KTM 350xc on cal that was screaming my name!... Brand new manual petcock is wide open and clean as can be. I'm going to try and clean out these injectors again...
-
Stumped on this one. I tried reloading my map, checked fuel pressure, no change. I'm going to try checking the fuel injectors again...

Ghezzi-Brian are super helpful if you e-mail them. Yeah the website sucks though.
-
If anyone needs a dash harness I've got a used one, yours for price of shipping.
-
Yeah checked that too...
