    Brand-new Scura

I chickened out replacing my tensioner last time I had the timing cover off. I did get myself a set of plumbers sockets that you could put a crescent wrench on. They would/will fit over the crankshaft. Sorry that's all I can offer.
  2. Looking to replace my front rotors or discs if you like. I'm also going to replace my pads at the same time. Current rotors are about a tenth past the stamped min. thickness (3.6mm?). The Chinese rotors are tempting but I have a hard time using them in such a critical area. Used Ducati with good wear left seem plentiful on eBay. I have EBC metallic pads on currently and am pretty sure I'm going with sintered this time. I didn't really like the metallic pads. Any recommendations? I'm a pretty hard braker and would hope to find something better than current. But I'm pretty sure I can't afford cast iron eyeball stretchers unfortunately.
  3. Been into gnarly old racing singles lately I.e.: Velocette Thruxtons, Ducati Desmo 450/350 and always the Yammie SRX-6. Maybe my Guzzi has been running a little too smooth for me.
  4. Jaap, how's the brick working out for ya? I've got a leaky brake fluid junction box to replace next weekend...eight hard lines into a box the size of a D-cell battery. Fiddly work.
  5. Wow that's a huge bummer! I've seen her and posse at least 6 times.
  6. I don't know much about aero planes, but every time I ride the v11 I feel like I'm chasing down the Luftwaffe in a P51. Yeah I'm still a twelve year old in 34 year old body.

    Zinc chromate

That's awesome! In an age of Rossi's fresh helmet design for every race.

    Zinc chromate

So why were these old dustbin faired bikes covered in (theoretically) zinc chromate? It's what they had on hand? Or, are these old dustbin fairings steel? Which raises other questions like, why? That stufffs heavy?
  9. Glad you got her up and running.But... First bike?... 1100cc's? Oh boy.
  10. Gaskets are the same. Guess I'm wondering about rocker height/position.
  11. I'm thinking about swapping my valve covers for earlier Lemans IV/V, 1000S or Cal III type. The more square metallic (magnesium?) style. These should fit my v11 right?
  12. And some blue loctite!
  13. Thanks for the input guys. Might try my hand at a used mid-size compressor.
  14. Yes please. What's the story/stats on that? She's a beauty btw!
  15. The correct way to vote is to take your Guzzi there.
  16. Under a few hundred (us$) probably just 110. What's the advantage of air tools? I've never had access to any, pardon my nativity.
  17. Tool review ok in this thread?... if not start a new. Question is: What's a decent air compressor? Not looking to operate impact guns or anything. On a bit of a budget. Old and crusty or new and shiny?
  18. Ha! The SoCal spine museum. There are Guzzi dealers who have less parts than you Scud. I'm just a little jealous....
  19. I think he forgot the word way. Turns one way and not the other...
  20. Does the oil light come on at all? The oil light is just a micro switch activated by pressure. When you shut your bike down there might be pressure in the circuit yet. They are kind of flukey though and it might just be shot, but they're cheap too. She sounds good to me.
  21. Not really into vehicles with more than two wheels. But I could have fun with that!
  22. That was a funny video! Honda or not.

    Brand-new Scura

Pretty sure they're bare on my bike. Maybe clear coated but I doubt it.
  24. You have to understand that you are forming a relationship. It takes a while.
  25. She's not overcharging i.e. bad regulator? Otherwise every eight years you gotta replace a Maxi fuse... So be it. Super frustrating though.
