  1. I had that bolt come loose one day and the linkage wedged itself somewhere. I was in fourth about twenty miles from home. Middle of FL in the summer, fearing my transmission was kaput. I was so relieved it was something simple. From 0-70mph in fourth gear is no problem.
  2. She could ride my square head.... Budump ching
  3. No... Next week likely. I finally have some nice weather here. But no forks, hopefully it was worth the wait. Expect a full report when I get a few miles on though.
  4. EPM Performance here in the states are selling their 460 (basic preload/rebound) shock on the cheap! Just $499 shipped domestically. Weight specific spring, 5yr. warranty and a free first service! Helluva deal I think. One is on the way for my old girl.
  5. Second pic, the light diffuser star lookin thingy.
  6. I gave it a shot couldn't find anything... Sorry
  7. I remember something to that effect also Footgoose. I think it was pretty recent.... Wait til Docc the super searcher is on the scene, he's gotta knack for finding old threads.
  8. I would definitely check those wires coming from the stator. They have a tendency to get weak and lose connection. As Antiquar said clean/groom and check all relevant connections.
  9. Either myself or Kiwi-Roy are going to tell you to MIND THE MAIN GROUND! On most it's behind the seat lock attached to a transmission bolt. Clean it up and use some dielectric or Vaseline to keep corrosion out. Also congrats on owning one of the best looking bikes created!
  10. Looked at the poor girl still with her forks in the shop.... 50s this weekend. I'm no good at riding wheelies though.
  11. My bike isn't clunky but there is some very minor play, both in the rear drive and the reaction rod itself.
  12. Interesting thread. I've got a question(s) though, when can a guy tell when his stock reaction rod
  13. Good to hear GS! Time to go ride that v11!
  14. Well done sir!
  15. As someone who owns both can you tell much of a difference between the two, GM?
  16. Never had a problem removing the rotor without a puller. My crank is not tapered. Holding the ring gear takes some fiddlin but is doable.
  17. The only real tricky part is the rotor nut removal, I use a screwdriver on the ring gear through the porthole while torquing the nut. Some say to store the rotor in the stator too. Apparently they lose magnetism over time. Depending on age/mileage of your bike consider timing chain tensioner too. I wussed out on replacing mine last time.... Make sure you've got a crank seal handy too. This wasn't the super informative thread I thought it was my apologies....
  18. Yeah, Scud just curious. I'm not using the coupler on the new ring. The couplers were still covered in oil, kind of unnerving thinking that oil might be breaking this zinc/chromate whatchamacallit down.
  19. The yellow "chromate" is flaking off. Just wondering if there is a 14yr life in the chromate Guzzi used or do I need to find what kind of oil this guy used.
  20. I'm waiting on parts and getting prepped to finally change out my upper sump ring/flange so that my kickstand is working properly. Anyway a few months ago I bought a used upper sump ring/flange. Today I was stripping off some of the hardware in preparation and found the finish bubbling off the oil cooler line coupler/nipple things. The part with the sealing washer. Finish is really coming off. Obviously I'm not using the part but what could have caused this? Should I be worried?
  21. Just read this thread. Hylomar works great on the new gasket.
  22. Agreed. There is something so wrong yet so right about the blue Sports!
  23. How are the vibes with the woodcraft clip ins?
  24. How do you like it so far compared to the VFR I see in your garage?
  25. I've always felt the front end to be a little vague on my 02 Lemans. The handlebar conversion probably doesn't help your description of front end feel. Steering stabilizer will definitely quell some of the instability. I've always had a stock seat on my bike, one of the best seats I've ever had on a motorcycle stock or otherwise IMO. Otherwise she's a damn fine looking machine! Congrats!
