  1. Ok good, there is a hammer in the background.... Scared me for a second.
  2. Uh-oh, I don't see any "speed-holes" in the airbox lid? Is there an after shot?

    Parts Bike

How did the exhaust fair? I might be interested.
  4. I've always wanted an old loop. I hear that the chrome cylinder bores can be a pretty major issue. I watch these pretty regularly. For price right around $3500 for a reasonable rider all the way to $15k+ for a restored beauty. Plenty of projects to be had for under a $1k. Btw I personally like the patina on that one.
  5. Takes a real man to dress well, ride a large air cooled bike, burbling along in first gear and all this in southern cal. Impressive, many frosty beverages deserved.
  6. Yeah sorry I'm late to the party. benvenuto!
  7. I'm not a fan of big riding groups either. I gotta say though, 400 eclectic motorcyclists burbling along through a metro area is probably a sight to behold!
  8. So next weekend I'm gonna hit up the "Slimey Crud Run" near Madison WI. Never gone before don't know a lot about it but it sounds like good folks. If anyone is around I'll be at the starting point in the morning. Details here http://www.slimeycrudrun.com Pseudo famous Moto scribe Peter Egan has been known to attend if that will motivate anybody. Pm me if you wanna meet up.
  9. What Roy said!
  10. Love my Chase/Harper bag. Lifetime warranty!
  11. If you have weak cranking on startup I would be absolutely sure to check the main ground strap. Should be behind the seat lock on the right side. Clean both mating surfaces and keep it sealed with Vaseline or such. Very important! Trust me.... If it were me I would check battery voltages too: before start up should be around 12.65+ at idle 13+ and over 3k close to or a little over 14. Congrats btw you are not the only one who stares at there bike when unable to ride, usually I accompany with making motorcycle noises too. It really adds to the experience.... Enjoy!

    Gone Guzzi

Major bummer! So sorry to hear that. Glad you and your family were safe.
  13. Tried it again using some anti-seize. Made it easier didn't gain much though. No leaks just resting hard on the left muffler bracket. My experience with the performance of the new FBF x-over mostly echoes what others have said about it. Maybe a little gain on the top end and seems to help the "4k torque dip" a little too. I'm happy don't think I'd pay retail for it but it works. Let's hope this one doesn't crack....
  14. I saw a brand new 2000 v11 at a dealer in Mpls when I was 18. Finally scored one a few years ago. I know the "look"...
  15. Subframe. I misspoke I thought it was swing arm. That's some serious dough for the subframe, 90s titanium 2010s carbon fiber... Personally I like titanium aesthetically along with finely carved aluminum. Makes sense why your such a cornering guru now!
  16. That is so cool! Titanium swing arm! I used to have a customer that was an avid bicycle racer I asked him the same what the difference was between him on his $20k+ race bike and the steel frame bikes he raced in the 70s. He was like maybe a second on a relatively long sprint (30 miles or so). I'm sure it's harder to say with a bicyclist but still interesting. Thanks for sharing
  17. I always ask people with highly modified machines. Looks like these guys started life as 750ss'.How much time do you lose on a lap after all this beautiful kit compared to the way Ducati delivered them?
  18. More appropriate, my bad.
  19. Wow! Pretty gnarly! I'm sure there are some really nice parts I can't recognize but it puts a smile on my face either way! Were you the pilot of these beasts? Sorry to thread jack Cabernet...
  20. That is interesting, I've always wondered why I seem to ride certain bikes one way and have more pucker effect when riding other bikes the same way.... Enough about technique what's this Harris Ducati all about? Can I borrow it? JK
  21. JRD, check out Shep's on 4th st and 20th ave or so in st Pete.
  22. Ok, was hoping I wouldn't have to bend the headers... I'll try one more time front to back, thinking relaxed as Bob Marley in a hammock factory.
  23. Consider yourself sponsored!.. Let's stop this disease that has doctors doing terrible things to us men!
  24. I just picked up an FBF X-over from a member here, very happy btw. Fitting the piece is more of a pain than I thought it would be. I know the idea is to "relax" this exhaust system so everything slides on nice and easy fits tight to help with expanding/contracting and hopefully reduce cracking. I have a couple questions here. When loosening the collar at the head to header should I replace the gasket? It doesn't leak but looks to be aluminum? The only way I can get this thing remotely close to lining up is stressing the headers a little, the gap between the studs on the collars is a little uneven about 1/8" difference top to bottom. Is this considered relaxed? Last up how far (guesstimate) do the stock mufflers slide on the aftermarket x-over? Seems much less than stock about 2" or so?
  25. Yes you just mechanically synch the throttle bodies. Doing the TPS reset/TB balance will likely make the biggest improvement for ride ability on your new V11.
