I don’t think I ever put more than 4.8 gallons in mine even after running it out of gas...
I think the consensus is that there is less than 5 gal of usable fuel.
FWIW I usually only get 36 mpg on mine...
I have no reason at the moment to remove the rear wheel or any thing back there. But I’m wondering what the standard practice is for spline maintenance on old Tontis?

If I was having tappet/follower issues would I see the valve lash close up fast?
The plan is to break in the cylinders (500 miles) retorque and do the valve lash. Change oil and filter again.
Then just ride it.
The profile seems like it should be flat and I couldn’t feel any detectable gouging.

Even though I’ve got her all buttoned something has been eating away at me.
I checked the cam followers and found a spec or two of plating missing on two of them. I’m talking like smaller than 1mm near the center and I couldn’t feel a ridge with my fingernail.
Am I asking for trouble?
