  1. I am about to replace my timing cover and I don't feel like my regulator and stator has many more dis-connect/re-connects left in it. The stock connections were always weak now they don't even stay put. I know some guys have replaced them with good old spade connectors but has any one sourced a 3-2 or 5 wire connector that works in this application? Really anything while I got it apart?
  2. Gonna try to get my timing cover replaced before you guys get down here so you don't have to see my bodged side stand leaning on a wood block that I have to keep with me... Among other things on my list of tank-off/bike in pieces things I should do.
  3. Stator just slides out after you undo those three 4mm? hex bolts, the rotor is just magnetic keep that inside the stator while you're working. Get yourself some "Hylomar Blue" to dress that gasket it is actually a pretty tough spot to seal with the timing chain whipping around there flinging oil. Have a spare seal for the crankshaft too.
  4. That might be cool Rosso and Nero
  5. All I can add is that for me the light (blue) did weep very slightly out of the trans. I did some research and found out that "v-twin transmission oil" is the exact same as "heavy shockproof" available at Cycle Gear. This is what I use and keeps me weep proof.
  6. Also I'm running the "titanium" map modified slightly. PM me if you want the titanium map.
  7. Recently I had bought a set of cans from a member here. He had done some modifying, removing packing and basically opening the cans up a bit. When I installed them it seemed like I had lost some midrange torque (nothing scientific). Then I started messing with Tunerpro basically upping my fuel map by quantities of 5-10 (whatever these quantities are). My question is this 5-10 too much? I seemed to fill in the flat spot at 4k nicely and midrange seems better. Spark plugs are brown and black, but nothing here is scientific. Just a dude with a laptop trying to tune this thing.
  8. That's interesting. Didn't somebody find a Honda Civic pressure sensor that worked for our bikes?
  9. Sorry Scud, wasn't trying to go panic mode on you buddy. All I'm saying is that if I was the last person to change the oil, okay I will accept that it could be a false oil light under low rpms. If I haven't dropped the sump to see what it looks like I might worry. That being said if K_Roy says these switches are unreliable...well he knows better than I do
  10. Oh yea the oil sensor topic....
  11. I could be wrong but I think the higher the oil temp the leaner the fuel-air mix. Do not ride that bike with the oil light going on! Pull that sump and make sure your oil filter is tight with only one gasket on the filter.... Dude I'll pay for your oil! That sensor detects very low pressure. Pull it off and blow on it you can hear it trip, takes next to nothing.
  12. Is there much difference between the dual plate (lemans) and single plate (scura) clutch? I always thought if I'm going to add a second bike for around 5k it'll be another spine frame.
  13. No, like direct current hot.
  14. Neighbor kid was bored so I taught him how to adjust valves on a Guzzi (valuable lesson right...) anyway threw on fresh plugs and started her up. I got a nice reminder of why I need to replace my rashed up res. covers. Didn't know 12v could get so hot! Wow!
  15. I'm all ears.

    Brand-new Scura

Scud if you're interested the "Rustoleum High Heat" flat black is good enough to touch up. I'm Going to try and paint my replacement timing cover which is only available in silver I guess.
  17. Finally ordered my black caps via MG cycle. Along with a timing chain tensioner and some gaskets. Finally going to replace my gimpy broken timing cover and see if this tensioner helps my idle smooth out... Btw Moto International has timing covers for around $95 us. They are silver but that's what BBQ paint is for.

    Brand-new Scura

Like death and taxes eventually our 02' bikes get it. Mine isn't as pristine as yours but I've found BBQ grill paint at the hardware store that is real close and works for touch up. I will try and get a brand for you when I'm in the garage.

  22. Love it!... Unfortunately all I can bring is wrenches, no whiskers here. But I'm in.
  23. Love it!
  24. That's a huge bummer Roy! Be sure to make guest appearances around here now and again.
  25. I've replaced my resistor caps, but I wonder if the ignition wires themselves ought to be replaced after "so long?" Still original Docc?
